correct it is like a 1 or 2 frame window to correctly block it, plus Jubei can make it harder by mixing up the timing. This guy is truly a god for getting that block in an online match

Respect to you jmcroft for acknowledging the air counter at the end. Designing a fair counter is about active frames, not everyone can have catch frames that are a bajillion frames long. I messed with Wu a bit on ranked, the active frames on her counter feel generous but the recovery frames are painful to watch.

He is just so screwed by Genjuro. Can't anti air his jumpins, no reversal to get out of pressure, being big means that he's super screwed by ricochet cards, rekkas close the distance that earthquake generates.

EQ is low key strong as hell. He has a lot of little tech that catch ppl off guard. His instant overead is pretty good. 5k into fire breath. Among more.

[As a scrub] playing this feels like the old days in the arcade when I was a kid, when no one went super technical about 1frame combos or optimum damage. There are little to no combos (like 1-2 normals into special). It all comes down to reading the opponent. Unlike combo-heavy games like DBZ, where most comes down to "seeing the combo routes" and offensive pressure. One of the most devastating punishes is a simple standing heavy punch. Imagine that! But you can't just throw that out or you will get to eat it yourself. Or getting read and lose your weapon... even a cornered, defending opponent is scary, man. :D So getting in is super easy. I would even say its the best game to start fighting games. Mastering a fighting game is always difficult. :D

I'm loving ShamSho but I've noticed that jumping seems to way less risky than I thought it would be for a game about big hits. It's not uncommon for people to be jumping incessantly, which I normal don't mind if there are hard ways to call it out. May just be part of the learning experience but I'm hoping there is better anti-excessive jumping tech than you have to meet them in the air all the time because I could see that killing my love for the game very quickly.

This might be a silly question, but what is Jubei's appeal as a character? I mean I get that he's a bad ass eyepatch guy and all, but just in terms of tools, why not just play someone who may be better like Tam Tam for instance? I know not everyone is a tier slave, I just want to know if I'm missing something that makes Jubei uniquely appealing.

Big brain feelings. Jubei has narrow application but great specials that reward you very satisfyingly when you make it work. Parry is obvious big deal, but even the double fireball or counter horizontal dp just makes you feel like you read your opponent perfectly when you counter hit with them.

EQ command grab is actually garbage and has less range than a normal grab, and does less damage after the confirm heavy after a normal grab
