Jack Conte, CEO and co-founder of Patreon invited me as a guest on Digital Spaghetti, his KZbin show that unpacks creativity and filmmaking. ‘Bloody oath Jack’, I said, but only if we do something cool beforehand. He mentioned paragliding. ‘Boom, mate’. I said. Let’s do it. So we did, before chatting. This is the air before the long cup of tea and an insight into the creative flare for business.

Jack made the awesome platform Patreon for artists like me to sell my wares and engage in a community of legends who dig my stuff. It helps pay the bills and keeps the creative stuff coming. It works out to be the cost of a sourdough loaf a month, and I don’t just appreciate it, I freakin’ love it. Big thanks if you’re keen to join the team. www.patreon.com/beaumiles

Beau - my goodness. What an amazing record of our morning together. So good that I had to watch it TWICE!! Not just because the storytelling is so strong, but because I know how much editing and work it requires to make me not look like a dork. You’ve made magic!! Having this record of our hang has me smiling ear to ear. Thank you for the kindness, your willingness to jump into something new, your free spirit, and for your continued exceptional creativity. As a paraglider pilot I can say that you did bloody well on your first day of training Beau, especially since you kind of got dropped in the deep end by Jack! If you caught the flying bug and want to see where it could take you then I reckon that the ‘hike & fly’ and ‘vol biv’ disciplines would be right up your alley. Hike or run to the top of a mountain with ultralight gear and fly down, or go on a cross-country flight, land high in the mountains and camp before carrying on the next day. The sky’s the limit (but make sure to get proper training to build your basic skillset before getting too ambitious)!
