All season luka has been an above average defender and so has kyrie. As a massive Durant fan since... well... forever... this has always been my biggest gripe with his game and mentality. He just WON'T takeover any time. He always let's the game come to him and that's so bad when the team needs him to exploit the mismatch or be the go-to guy. His handle is sloppy. He needs to play through pindowns, roll man (but he can't screen to save his life) or mid to low post. But he's to prideful of a guy to settle for plays or whatever the coaches think is best. He believes he can still get whatever shot he wants and truthfully, 8/10 times he still can, unfortunately they're not going in at the same rate they used to in playoff settings as they were years ago. His "downfall" and lack of adjustment in the postseason since the Milwaukee series in 2021 has been so hard to watch as a fan man.

Not sure what you meant about DJJ starting over Josh Green? DJJ has been starting over Josh for a while, and Green’s injury late in the season basically guaranteed that DJJ would be the starter. Also not shocked by the Mavs going to small-ball because neither Gafford or Lively have been great on the offensive side of the ball. Lively has been better defensively, but the Clippers have made it a priority to play those guys out of the game with their PnR coverage. Also that great Kyrie behind the back pass was actually becuase the Clippers were trying to hound the ball from Lively, and it looked like they were going to steal it. Then Kyrie gets it before a Clipper can and makes that ridiculous pass. Also I thought that Luka bounce pass to Kyrie at the end of game was pretty crazy as well. But liked your thoughts and excited for game 3.

Before this series began, I said that the Timberwolves would come into this series having learned from their mistakes against the Suns in the regular season. I said that despite the Suns having their number, they were gonna rely on their defense, and they were built to defend what the Suns like to do and take advantage of what they don't do or don't have. Lo and behold, here we are. I'm not gonna put this on KD completely (that seems to be the popular theme), but his playmaking-or attempts at playmaking-have been non-existent through these two games. He's never been a great playmaker, but he surely can do much better than 3 assists across two games. I can't really blame him, though, because Booker and Beal have both been pretty lame offensively, and nobody else is a reliable option. Allen's injury just makes things more difficult for them. I won't knock Frank Vogel too much because this roster simply does not fit his philosophy. His most success years were with teams that had good-to-great defensive players. This Suns team has almost none of those except maybe Royce O'Neale. Not to say that they don't play defense, but they certainly don't have a lot of personnel known for clamping down.
