Hey Huub!! great video!! the first time I fell on one of your videos explains how to sail in 20min and l loved it how simple and clear but also your sense of humour about all the words related to sailing are so different to our daily language! I have been on a sailing journey very recently and so I will have to rewatch your video about sailing!! I met my boyfriend on a sailboat on my last lesson with a sailing school and our plan is to experiment what you have experienced!!! thumbs up on not drinking anymore, I hope you keep going strong about it!! This vlog was very enjoyable for many reasons. 🙂 Your first mate seems to like learning how to handle the ropes on your boat, to being a chef, and to being in charge of inflating all of the inflatables. I like your style of sharing. I'm 58 and finally bought my first sailboat. At 19 I sailed from Florida as far as the French west indies for 1.5 yrs. And always had dreams of sailing and living on a boat. But life happens and sometimes life doesn't always happen the way you'd like. I went to the Netherlands in the mid 90s to work for a few years. Then spent the next 20 years in Barcelona Spain. I raised 3 great young men sometimes alone but made the best of it. Now back home in the Florida Keys living on my boat and running a fishing charter business with one of my sons. Now waiting on the youngest to finish school and have them both here to share this journey and do some traveling. The moral of this story is, it's never to late even if plans change. Keep up the great videos I still have much to learn and channels like this are a trove of experience and information. To all who have a dream to do something like this.. Chase that dream becuase it won't chase you! Fair seas and safe travels! ⛵️😊

I have been watching lots of your videos. You are an amazing person. All of the adventures you have tackled. Your learning curve for sailing has been amazing. You are so capable at whet ever you do. I am a life long sailor/cruiser. Sailing instructor etc. and commercial captain. You rock. That was a very tough route that you took. I had an Alberg 35, so know your handicaps and plusses . Definitely the school of hard knocks. I have sailed to Colombia. Loved Cartagena. Panama is excellent cruising. From where you are, a fantastic down hill sail in your new cat! Re doing something I had no idea about: I moved a few thousand kms across the country 15 years ago. I don't drive and at the time rode my bike everywhere and when I decided to move my first thought was "how will I get my bike there?" Shipping it seemed like a pain in the ass to me so I decided to ride it. Somehow I thought that would be easier.😂 The morning I set off the bike was loaded down with so much crap I could barely balance it, I had to walk up even the gentlest of hills. Within a week I had thrown away more than half the stuff I was carrying. Took my time, spent a month traveling 2700kms and had the best time of my life. Since then I've done several short trips and also bicycle toured Japan for 6 weeks. Fell into something having no idea about it and decided I loved it. It's wanting to continue that lifestyle of traveling that's got me interested in sailing, as much as I love riding my bike the idea of letting the wind do the work instead of the wind being the bane of my existence (ride into a strong headwind for 8 hours and you'll know why I say that) really appeals to me.😂
