When I was 22, I moved out of my VA town with $500 in my pocket to Florida. Everybody, friends, family, etc. told me not to. 2 years later I took out loans and went to film school, once again against everybody’s advice. 10 years ago I once again packed a car and drove out to Los Angeles, where once again mom and siblings tried to tell me I wouldn’t make it. I made it just fine ( not without struggles, of course) but I did fine. I met my wife, changed careers had a son and still fine.

@@iexist7408 Proverbs 16:25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Be very careful about following your heart, especially when it comes to men. Always use your brain first. Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

leaving my parents home and living on my own was the best move I ever made. I'm Hispanic, so one's parents expect you to live at home until you get married. I said hell naw, I'm out. It was scary, challenging, and caused a bit of friction, but it taught me to fend for myself. That said, I've been watching your videos and I am so proud of you with the progress you've made. As some have written in the comments, don't give a shit about what others think is best for you. Real friends and people who care about you will let support you. You are doing nothing wrong by wanting to seek adventures, to explore the world. Do what you want to do and what makes you happy. My youngest brother suffers from anxiety too, and we've been trying to break him free from his chains, but still he refuses to. All that to say, you've now tasted freedom. Don't stop now. Life's too short to not do the things you want to do!

Eventually I keep going and I kept finding happiness against what people thought was best for me. When I truly feel free even if it’s something different than normal. Got an old car so I could learn to work on it as my first carand nobody else did. I tried 3 different things before finding the businesses I’m doing now. Nobody seems to understand, but I’m happy. Good job girl👍👍👍

Thats a perfect example of why you never tell people your plans and ideas. A lot of people dont mean to do it but they sow seeds of doubt or negativity in what you are wanting to do which could mess up your plans before they have even begun. Heck they csn even sabotage stuff (crabs in a bucket mentality) You just plan and prepare then do it and inform people the very last second you can or even not at all until its done

Very inspiring video. It reminded me of a time of my life in my early twenties during which I was forced out of my comfortzone after I finished school. Back then all males in Germany would either have to join the army or do civil service for 9 months and even though all my friends chose the latter, I really wanted to know how army life was like (I guess I watched to many war-movies with my dad when I was a kid). As a person who also suffers from anxiety and feels extremely uncomfortable around large groups of people this was a huge step for me. I broke down in week 2 because I was often in total panic-mode and sometimes could not comprehend the simplest orders, so my superiors just thought they had a very stupid individual in front of them. Nonetheless, I pulled through and the whole experience gave me a confidence boost in the end and also fond memories to look back at. By now I've returned to square one due to some poor life decisions of mine (or lack thereof), but seeing a couple of your videos and what an impact this leap of faith had on your mentality, I come to realize that I have dug too deeply into my comfortzone over the years and regular jumps into cold water are required to spark the passion for life. Thank you for sharing this moment with us.

Glad to hear you went anyway. I've had an anxiety disorder for most of my life but like you, I wanted to see the world so I didn't let it stop me. I went to San Francisco, New York, and Pennslyvania alone in my early 20''s. Not really intentionally, a friend was supposed to join me but he broke his leg like a week before and this was only a couple of weeks after 9/11. Hence, my stress level was through the roof, but I didn't want to waste all the money I invested in the trip so I went anyway. I'm glad I did, I met several people along the way and learned that I can do hard things alone, even flying which I still to this day don't very much care for. Since then I've been to Italy, Thailand, Canada, Rio, Argentina, Bali...I'll stop there. Traveling doesn't kill your anxiety but it does make your world feel less small and I think there's a lot of value in seeing how other people live. It reminds you of how much opportunity there really is out there. Keep doing things for yourself. That's the way it should always be. The older we get the less other peoples opinions matter anyway.

That is awesome! I see you starting to come out of your shell. I am proud of you for this. Believe it or not I had never been on an airplane before until I flew by myself to the Philippines from Kentucky. I had no idea how to navigate an airport before that, and everyone was telling me how dangerous it would be that I am going alone and that I am going to a foreign country. I literally went to meet my fiance for the first time in person and stay a month in the Philippines, and when I was there I had the time of my life, I got married and we ended up making our first child. So now I am going to be married for 5 years this September and we have a 4 year old son. I went back last year and stayed a few more months and I make trips while we are waiting on the government to process our spousal visa. Anyhow, I was scared, shy and got very little to no sleep at all on the flights. But I got to have layovers in Japan, China, the Philippines..and I don't regret it one bit. To think I almost gave in to my fears and almost didn't get on to the airplane. Bye the way I was 36 at the time. I am glad that you found a guy and I hope that everything works out well for you. Just be safe in all that you do and GO BE HAPPY!!!!! You deserve it!

Hey you! I feel like I always have pre-decision anxiety. I just recently made my first vacation alone. Like I had many before but they were always together with someone. A group, parents, friends. But this time I went totally on my own. I had to do everything on my own. From planning to execution. And it was for an entire month in Lisbon. I've started learning portuguese some time ago but just on duolingo so not really much of a basis anyway, as I think duolingo is nice for engaging in language learning in general but it doesn't really teach you any of the necessary stuff to lead actual conversations with people. For that you have to go where to native speakers are and talk to them. So the vacation was both for me. To go on an adventure and relax from my day to day life and also learn the language, the people and their culture of Portugal. Things go quite differently in Portugal as opposed to here in Germany. So I had to learn a lot and quick to adapt. I specifically went to stay somewhere with mostly only locals and not tourists or touristic organizations in the vicinity. I wanted to experience day to day life as the locals do. Also I have been on airplanes before but it's actually been quite some time. I think the last time was in 2004 so pretty much the first time since 20 years I went by plane into another country where I haven't been before. There wasn't anyone telling me not to do it - except for myself. And I feel like it's almost impossible to win an argument with yourself. I procrastinated on taking this vacation for months. I actually had it planned for last year but always would find a reason not to. And then at some point I just told myself I'm going to apply for educational vacation and once that is done I have to take it this year. And then just one thing followed the next. I applied for the language school, got an airbnb and then planned everything else on the go. I also had a lot to do about my tech, I had to factory reset my iPhone and set it up anew and because I had never done that before and was also switching apple IDs it wasn't as straightforward a process as it normally is so I also procrastinated on that until I was in Lisbon. Could've done that way before. But hey in the end I got everything sorted out. I even rented a car there to explore the near area on my own. And I hadn't driven a car since 2016. I did a lot of other things that I had either not done in a long time or never done before during that month. I think it was one if not the best decisions of my life. My portuguese improved by a lot. During my last week I could already confidently lead some basic day to day conversations with the locals. It gave me a lot of faith into my abilities and thus raised my feeling of self-worth by a lot. And all of a sudden the entire world looks different. Our reality really comes down to our perception. And we have a lot of influence on our own perception.

7 days is a pretty long trip! Good for you too meet your friend on your trip and that they were very accommodating. For the people particularly concerned with the decision to take an exciting (in country) vacation, understand that traveling is one indulgence that can expand your perspectives. Yes it’s expensive, it can potentially have some danger, but many alternative outlets to broaden yourself and seek independence can be much less healthy. I really believe anyone without any desire to travel is really limiting themselves. Don’t get me wrong, our guts and impulses can absolutely get us into trouble (it’s definitely happened to me), but this trip seemed pretty tame. Next time consider a road trip with a friend that might also want to travel to a place you might not expect to enjoy (if your car is dependable enough to not expect a breakdown). Some places I visited in the last few years were Mammoth Cave in KY, Birmingham AL, Duluth MN were all places that blew my expectations out of the water. If you bring a friend then you can split gas and hotels and also have a second mind there in case something bad DOES happen. Not sure how KZbin brought you to my feed, but it was nice to hear your story. I wish you the best and hope your friend in California makes the trip over to PA, you might be surprised how pretty he finds it (I’ve wanted to visit for a while).

Nice to hear you went to CA and had a great time meeting your boyfriend. People in general want to hold you back chasing your dreams and judge. You just have to learn not to care what others think and do what you think is best for you. Your parents aren't doing much of a favor for your self esteem and confidence. I think you would grow a lot in many ways if you look for a place of your own and be independent.

You should do more solo trips closer to home first e.g. Washington and film some bits for your channel (you can always dub in your vocal track later, no need to speak in public). The important thing is doing things you want to do at your pace, don't let anyone say otherwise! New to your channel - looking forward to seeing more content and watching your channel grow 😃

I’m 73 years old now. When I was in my early 20s, I broke free. On weekends, I would get in my car and drove to Pennsylvania to be with my girlfriend. My girlfriend lived here in New Jersey until her mother made her move to Pennsylvania. I went there every weekend to see her. But she married the other guy. But at least she was nice enough to invite me to the wedding so that I could take her wedding pictures. I didn’t go, of course. My life was shattered. But I got on the airplane and went to Africa. I went to Egypt. I went to Sub Saharan Africa. I saw France. I saw Italy. I saw Greece. I went to South America alone. If I didn’t do those things, I would still be tied to my mother‘s apron strings getting spanked at the age of 73. . Enjoy your travels.

I'm glad to hear and witness a considerable visible transformation since you last spoke! Just remember you have the power to set the boundaries that shouldn't be crossed concerning you! Third parties can easily detect as another person's vulnerability and loss of focus that can lead to a possible abuse of the situation? I would suggest that you speak to your parents about your relationship with your new- found boyfriend! Parents can sometimes be a nagging bunch but most times can speak wisdom into your life,if you will allow them! They rightfully take their responsibility as parents and as protector of you, serious! Be open and work with your parents so that they can advise and guide you in the situation? In hindsight I think they will appreciate it that you have put your trust in them. Whatever you do , don't let the depression recur and don't wilfully invite it to control your life again! Your boyfriend I assume knows everything about you but do you know everything about him?

When you are an adult and parents are telling you what you can do and cannot - thats just toxic. Of course, to a degree ... people can put boundaries, but that really feels likes "life intruding" ... never listen such stuff - Ignore and do what makes you happy. Also, if we never fight our fears we can never grow stronger. I know you have pretty hard time struggling with socials and stuff and thats okay. But not growing is really not. Allow yourself to grow and dont listen to "stupid boundaries" that are really unhealthy - and seem a bit cultic. You are an adult. Much love fellow human!

Solo travel is awesome. At the end of the day, the place you are travelling to is likely not anymore dangerous than where you live. There is a youtube channel I follow, Alina Mcleod , that I follow. She has been travelling the world solo for quite awhile now. I'm happy for you that you took this leap of faith.

Sorry that your parents are like this, but it makes me realize how lucky I am with how supportive my parents are, wven though I am in a similiar situation with my life you (used to be?) in, so at least there's that for me. I can't imagine how much more humiliating my life would be if I had mocking parents.

My first big trip, and first time on a plane, was also to California. It felt so surreal flying from the Midwest to the West coast in about four or five hours. It takes that long to drive across Pennsylvania, so traveling to the other side of the country in the same amount of time was wild. Since then I've also flown to the Netherlands, which was just as surreal.

That's a wonderful step that you took. I saw your previous video of you claiming to be a "Loser" which I disagreed that your not a loser. No one is a loser. You have proven that you're not and Congratulations for your bravery by stepping out of the shadows of perpetual self imprisonment. I could sense the exhilaration of your decision. It was the probably scary to get out of your usual comfort zone at first. That's all that I'll say for now. I don't wish to hog-up the comments section and it's very late. I'll check on your other KZbin vids postings later. Congratulations again.

Forgive me. I am at present going through a series of crises with accompanying panic attacks; these for the first time ever. Your manner and voice seem to have calming influences. You may be aware of too much time spent on your channel but I trust you may understand. Good luck with California.

My best decision was to solo travel around SE Asia, Japan, Australia for 1-2 years when I was in my mid twenties. Loads of great memories, and a lot of personal growth and perspective. My second best decision was to become self-employed working remotely. Hard at first, but so much easier on the mind and the body compared to a traditional job.

So happy to hear this! THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU NEEDED TO DO!! FUCK YOUR PARENTS! You should be living for yourself, not your parents. You should be doing what's best for you, screw everybody else. Your trip sounds FANTASTIC!! Sounds like you got a lot of the major "California" things out of the way! Especially Disneyland, that is a MUST. It's so great to hear you have a boyfriend! I put a comment on your "virgin" video that an online relationship is totally fine, you just need to be able to meet them in person. Which you DID!! Great job! Screw your parents! Listen to your heart, which told you "it's ok to meet this guy. you're gonna be fine", and you were! He bought you a fucking promise ring AND GAVE IT TO YOU ON TOP OF A FERRIS WHEEL!!! I wish I got to do something like that with my wife... He sounds like a really great guy, so don't worry about anything. Don't think it's silly to disconnect from friends or family. I've had to disconnect from several close friends, and I haven't talked to my brother in 6 years. My brother is responsible for most of my abuse, and I have absolutely NO interest in repairing the relationship. My wife has hounded me to make amends, and I just tell her "MAKE AMENDS?!?! Why the fuck should I be making amends? He's the one who abused ME"... I kept my wife secret from my family for 3 years. I had the same problem where my family would tear down anything good in my life, and I didn't want them to ruin this relationship. So they didn't get to meet her until I knew no matter what they said, she loved me enough to not leave me. I know it probably doesn't mean much coming from a random KZbin comment... But I'm SOOOO PROUD OF YOU!! This was a big first step! Now get out there and take another!

I'm really glad you managed to travel and do what you wanted to do. And I'm glad everything went relatively smoothly and safely. It's also a good thing you could tell your sister about it, at least, so if anything happened to you, at least she would've known. It could've been worse and you had to go there all alone without anyone knowing it. Still, it'd still worth it. You can't always hide from the outside world. In Russia, we have a proverb: "fearing wolves means not going into the forest". And another one: "the one who doesn't risk doesn't drink champagne"😅

I think you definitely did the right thing hopefully everything works out well for you going forward. My mini leap of faith was going to do an enduro riding day on my own. It was a group event put on by Honda and it was excellent.I met lots of really nice people and really enjoyed my time. It was only one day but it was amazing fun. I definitely have more confidence since doing that even till this day many years later.

It’s ok to be from a religious family, it’s ok to have anxiety although it sucks, I’ve had it too, and it’s definitely ok to explore new places and experience new adventures. Just use common sense and be as safe as you can be without dwelling on that alone. Enjoy your life girl, your a beautiful young woman and most important HAVE FUN OFTEN.
