In this Street Photography POV, Sarah takes her favourite Leica Monochrom and 28mm to the seaside town of Blackpool in the north of England. Take in the sights and sounds of the resort as she shoots on the streets during the last weekend of the school holidays. The first day we had GoPro issues so the video footage is from the second day. Photos from the first day are included.

Really appreciate your videos. I find them very relatable and informative. I love your photos, too. I think what resonates with me is your shoot from the hip mentality, which has always been my go to technique. Although I’m getting more into engaging with the subjects I’m shooting, I also feel like the candid moments are best when people aren’t aware they’re being photographed. Your videos give me more confidence in developing my approach more. Thanks!

Once again, (and as so often) I admire your extraordinary powers of observation and the fact that you always notice such special motifs and moments in the midst of these crowds and capture them with your camera. All of this in a respectful manner. I like your cheerful and empathetic way of communicating with the people around you. That is one of the reasons why I always enjoy following your photo walks and look at the results with great interest. 1:36 is one of my favorites among many others. Stay healthy and cheerful, Sarah! Many greetings from afar - Monika

Agree with many comments but sometimes found myself wishing you had stayed with a subject a little longer and explored it a little more - different moments, different perspectives, etc. Not all the time, but sometimes when the scene feels like it's beckoning for it - or so I felt in a few instances.

If you’ve ever been out with Sarah, you will know that if the situation calls for it, she will stay with the situation. If she doesn’t, there is a good reason for that. / Jeff

@@WalkLikeAlice Of course that's one of the many things that distinguishes photographers from one another - whether or not they 'hear' a situation 'call' for more attention . . . and how they respond to it. That's the wonder of subjectivity.

Settings aren’t anything special. Set the iso for the environment. Aperture to f5.6. Shoot in aperture priority. Sometimes I’ll zone focus and sometimes I’ll focus. I don’t tend to think about the technical side when shooting.

Always fascinating to see the number of people who are comfortable being an a&& on a social network or comment section. There is absolutely no chance they would say this to their face in person, but with the safety and anonymity of a random screen name they have the “courage” to do it.

I had a 25mm Voigtlander viewfinder on the cold shoe of my Lumix S9 with the 26mm pancake, helped a lot in the walk and shoot style as the S9 has no viewfinder. I was surprised how useful, but weirdly that was then the deciding factor on selling the S9 and going back to Fujifilm X series. I'm happy to use the viewfinder less much lighter X-M1 though. Sorry a bit off topic!
