As a 22 year old i did 11 second in 100m, now as a 60+ year old i for fun tested 100m and got 18.3 seconds. That was a brutal wakeup of what age and laziness do to you. Next year my goal is to go below 15 sec, wish me luck.

Great video. One thing, at that level, while trying to get a tenth faster, the real valuable part of all the training is to maintain the speed you actually have and make that speed consistent day in and day out. Don't know much about sprinting, but know a lot about powerlifting and know several world champions. At that level they, aren't always setting PRs (even over months or years), but the consistent high level they've attain is what keeps them winning competition. I mean, take Usain Bolt, it's not like he as setting WRs every time he ran, but his top consistent speed was higher than his competitors's fastest consistent times.

It looks like you've been misinformed about training on sand. I train on sand with my athletes and the improvement they've felt has been astronomical. However, the key is to train in bare feet, which will build a ridiculous amount of strength/juice in the lower limbs (which are notoriously weak in most people because we wear shoes from such a young age). My athletes say that when they've sprinted or jumped on sand and then gone back to the track, they feel like they have 'rocket-powered' legs.

The thing that is fun about these videos is that the big progress happens in the first phase because it's all so new, but it soon dips off the farther and farther you go. Getting a second faster is nowhere near as easy as this, and this wasn't easy either.

Don’t run a time trial in the curve unless you were gonna use that to accelerate into the curve (but that defeats the purpose of a 100 time trial) and when you land when you run you need to land on your toes, not of your mid foot. Mid foot is good for distance but not for sprinting. And using blocks would be a lot better then going from a standing start. And shoulders looked tight but that could’ve been just based off your build (I’m a college runner btw, I’m not trying to just critique w/o having experience)

I would have avoided the huge 45 minute warm up on your final time trial day. A few drills, a few range of motion movements/swings, then maybe one acceleration up to top speed, then a bit of rest, then bam. I would also have added more core strength endurance work in your gym days. Russian twists are great for oblique strength which you desperately need when sprinting. Otherwise, amazing job man this was an entertaining watch and goes to show how improvements can be made.

It's like when I run road mile races. I didn't really run track in high school and only took up these road races in my 40s, so I don't have a great foundation, but have done well in the past. I'm 51 now and couldn't train this year for the USATF national title events in Des Moines. I told the people at the start that I've only got about 0.9 miles in my legs right now. I'll be damned if I'm going to fiddledick around for 20 minutes sprinting 20s down the street. :D

I have no idea what I would run today and I don't even care. I used to get torched by the faster football players, but watching this vid and I'm feeling real good about my 11.5x runs of yesteryear.

The crazy thing about this is that the fastest mile runners run whole miles at a faster speed than him at his initial 100m sprint.
