Hello guys! Firstly hope you enjoy the video, secondly, I can only apologise to the avid Sam viewers, I’ve let us all down and didn’t continue my sets with partial reps, all my sets were to failure in terms of full ROM but WWSSD… continue with partials. Either way thanks for all the support in 2023, here’s to an awesome 2024 helping each other 👊🏻

Just wanna say, it's incredible to see you responding to so many comments, even the ones that are slightly negative. Love watching your gym videos, inspires me to keep going gym. Also, like some others have said, I think you could've gone to complete failure with partials, if you wanted to copy it exactly like Sam usually does in his videos. But failure is obviously different for everybody, great video nonetheless!

You said ‘When I stop at 8 reps, it’s kind of embarrassing’ it’s actually not, if you get 8 reps and no matter how hard you push, you can’t get 9, that’s optimal training, 8 reps builds muscle just as well as anything else, even 6 reps, reps per set don’t matter as long as you get enough volume from the rep range, if you do 3 reps to failure per set, you’ll need more sets to get the same muscle growth, but 3 reps in itself isn’t worse than the stereotypical 12, 12 is just more convenient for most since it doesn’t take as long to maximise muscle protein synthesis doing that, but what’s most important is training within like 2 reps of failure, usually when it takes like 3-4 seconds to complete the concentric with maximum force output, that means you’re near failure, also ‘partial reps’ are done not out of choice, but because you can’t physically get another rep with full range of motion, they’re not necessary, but can be a good way to get a bit more volume in, with some of your sets in the video, I feel like you could’ve got a few more reps, I’d recommend going heavier and going to failure, even if you only get 5 reps the first time, then next session you can go slightly lighter, it doesn’t matter, you’ll have a much better gage of how close you are to failure and you’ll know if you need to change the weight by doing that just once.

@@MiniChalk partial reps is not the same as failure, people have differing definitions of failure. I couldn’t do any more full ROM reps in a lot of these cases, people seem to be misattributing failure for not performing partial reps, which I’ll take the L on not doing those in the video for, but I definitely hit failure on many of these exercises.

You are NOT training like Sam Sulek! Your form is too good, you're controlling the eccentric, while still going to failure at what, 8 reps? That's great for building muscle and beginners will gain a TON of muscle from Controlling the eccentric and failing at 6-8 reps. You can still gain muscle training like Sam, but if you're a beginner, it's not the best way to train to gain muscle. Can YOU move the full stack WITH a 25 or 45-pond plat added on as well? No. Sam is using VERY heavy-weight! So of course he's ALWAYS gonna have new stimulus for muscle growth. You will just injure yourself in the long wrong. So remember, Control the Eccentric, and pick a good enough weight where you fail at 6-8 Reps. And watch the empire grow! I LOVE Sam's videos btw I'm not hating on him, I really like the video where he's doing Tricep pushdowns, and a Pitbull walks by him in the gym. That boi boutta make some GAINS lol
