I recently completed 75 Soft, an adaptation of Andy Frisellas 75 Hard Challenge. For the past 75 Days I drank over 3 liters of water, worked out for at least 45 minutes (with one day a week allowed for active recovery), stayed under 2000 calories, only drank on social occasions, and read multiple books!

Okay as a librarian... PLEASE utilize your library hahaha. Free books & if you don't like them you didn't waste money! Also, free streaming services, free library of things, free resources... we have under-the-desk ellipticals that get checked out like crazy! All for freeeeeeeeeeee. I mean, you have to return them but... still worth it!!

Also also as a librarian, check to see if major cities in your state provide free cards to all state residents! You might be able to get ebooks faster than hard copies :)

I notice most people who don’t have any easy time reading are always reading self help and nonfiction, maybe a good fiction book would help you get into it. Reading can be fun too! I think nonfiction gives people more pressure to retain a lot of info almost like studying for a test as compared to reading fiction which can be relaxing or like getting into a great movie or show. Thanks for sharing your experience with the challenge, I might try it!

I know this video is older, but a tip for non-readers : Try books of short stories, essays, poetry, etc. It helps to have a shorter form.

Love this take on a more manageable 75 Hard. Feel like this will lead to more manageable, lasting lifestyle changes vs. a super intense, restrictive challenge 😊 Also, girl, Barnes & Noble is crazy expensive! Def hit up the library or Half Price Books (in-store & online).

I totally agree! I hit a lower weight and have actually kept it up a month later compared to how I did with 75 Hard! I’m glad I tried it. And I was shocked with the price… definitely need to find a half price books and get a library card to keep up with my reading!! Thanks for watching 😊

Feel like this is much more achievable than 75 hard. You do have an advantage of having gyms this accessible. Definitely think need to have equipment ready to make it easier.

The one thing that really sinks the 75 Hard/Soft rules for me is reading a physical book (And I love reading! - I'm currently on a 120+ day streak). I like reading hard copies sometimes, but I would never have read this many days in a row carrying around a physical book. Ignoring the last 20 years of technology to meet a reading goal just seems ridiculous. We aren't banning people from using treadmills or forcing people to make their meals on campfires to prove they are serious about meeting their goal. Libraries even have free digital books. Amazon has thousands of free books using Kindle Unlimited. There's no reason Jennifer needs to spend $100 on books. Ok rant over... Tips for spending less on physical books - Use your library. It's literally free in most places! If you like a book enough, buy a copy after you've finished the book. I only buy physical book copies if A) I might read it again or B) I will likely recommend and loan that book to someone I know. Shop at secondhand bookstores. This can still get a little expensive, but at least your dollar is typically supporting a local business.

Don’t get trapped in their ‘rules’. I think the physical book part likely meant don’t listen to an audiobook. I would 100% include kindle and consider that a success in the program.

I personally prefer a physical book and planned to read actual copies if I did the challenge. I spend more than enough time in front of a screen and unplugging would be a nice break.

@@BrynneC You are a person with absolute free will. Don't give away your power. Re-reading books allows us to capture things we may have missed. I think the only 'rule' I would follow strictly is that it be non-fiction. At least that is my opinion. I have been through years of therapy to remove dogmatic thinking out of my life. It is a daily process, but I realized that I am also allowed to choose things and don't need permission/approval from a program or the person creating the program to satisfy ego.

I appreciate that you showed actual numbers on a scale so many of these big weight loss KZbinrs don’t. Great job Jennifer, very inspiring! Additionally, besides free books at the library (I prefer purchasing books), I always look online first to find a used book before buying it new. Thrift Books, Abe Books, Wonder Book and Video and even Amazon.

Just found this challenge and your video and I am SO INSPIRED!!!! You make me want to go out and buy a treadmill! lol But I will just head to the gym!! I think 75 hard is primarily a mental challenge tbh. Also it’s just unrealistic for some people. I don’t have 1.5h for workouts, I have 2 small kids and a full time job.

Started my 75 soft yesterday! I’m so excited!!! I did modify mine to ramp up- I’m extremely sedentary so a full 45 every day is hard so 20 first 3 weeks, 30 second 3, 45 last 2, and also counting steps to ramp as well.

You’re doing great! I will say the calorie burn estimate on workout equipment is pretty off. They usually overestimate calorie burn. I personally cut their estimate in half when I log in my fitness pal. I wish I had an elliptical - it looks like a great workout!!

Just realized that this 75 soft regimen is the diet and exercise guidelines of the American Diabetes Association and the American Heart Association… basically what the doctor would advise their overweight, diabetic or high blood pressure patients. Idk why we gotta create new names for these things when the information has been free online for years now.

It's so sweet when you start getting rid of that unwanted weight. I lost 42 pounds in about 12 weeks and have kept it off since then. My main issue was that I exercised daily, but struggled with my calorie intake. It was just impossible for me to eat less. It felt like I wasn't in control of my actions. My journey got 10x easier when I started taking Phenq pills. Eating less became possible, it felt as though my hunger disappeared and I also had enough energy to exercise. Best feeling ever 😊

Jennifer, congrats on all your success! Wanted to share that my lifestyle change really came when I began resistance training with heavy weights. Muscle burns calories all day long !!! Like me, I can tell by your food selections, you have a serious sweet tooth and most likely deal with some sugar addiction issues. 15 months ago I removed all sugar and all artificial sweeteners from my diet. Wow, it’s been a game changer ! I have no cravings at all. Eat plenty of protein and good fats, don’t feel hungry and finally have peace of mind around chasing that sweet taste. All that cardio creates a pretty big increase in appetite as well. Congrats on all your success!

The best thing I’ve found for sweet cravings are Fudgecicles. They are only 40 calories per popsicle! No sugar added and so delish

@@scf7334 🙄 It has sorbitol (which is a sugar alcohol found in fruits and vegetables) and polydextrose (which is a soluble fiber). Not that I care about artificial sweeteners. There’s nothing wrong with sugar alternatives. Especially when you’re weighing risks vs rewards. Obesity is much more dangerous than sugar substitutes.

lol - Defensive, aren’t you? It’s not just about obesity - it’s about health. And generally, sugar substitutes aren’t good in and of themselves. Can they be better than sugar in some instances? Sure, but as a whole - they’re not healthy. Calm your tits next time someone just makes an innocuous comment. It wasn’t that deep.

I think that is the secret to, people don't know that even top athletes have them days of not wanting to train for whatever reason. Funny part is I don't even think about sporting or anything related until I'm on me bicycle and once you already done a mile you fall right into it.

Perfect timing! I did not add weight training during the challenge but would like to start incorporating weights soon. I love watching KZbin videos so a lot of time I would just watch stuff on my laptop and walk on my walking pad or would work (editing videos or my job) while walking! 😊

I hope you’re enjoying 75 Soft so far :) it is a little tough to get used to the walking pad and typing at first, my biggest suggestion is to start at a VERY slow speed and do that for a while then when you get used to that put the speed up slightly and do that for a while and gradually overtime work your way up to a faster speed! :)

I have personally found that even with just incorporating walking on the treadmill into my daily routine has been game changing and I have combined that with 16:8 intermittent fasting (although I will be honest and tell you that I am not always super diligent about sticking to the specific 8 hour eating window although I do try my best). The challenges that I struggle with are: 1) I am the world's pickiest eater (I do not like a lot of vegetables and the ones that I will eat are only consumed if they come out of a can and I do not like a lot of the lower calorie | lower fat meat options like fish ~~ can I just put it out there that I am not at all a fan of fish); 2) I am 58 and let me just put it out there ~~ losing weight as one ages definitely increases the overall challenge; 3) I am short (5 feet 1 inches) and I have had double knee replacement surgery so walking on an incline at a higher rate of speed makes my knees burn so badly and I feel like I am literally on the verge of being out of control. 2.7mph is as fast as my legs can go without the fear of tripping or falling and at that rate of speed I am not comfortable with letting go of the sides or the grab bars. I started my weight loss journey in May at a weight of 211 pounds. I fell off the wagon for a bit while my husband was on vacation because I was not diligent about going down and walking. But I have walked every single day since June 13th with my weight being 197.4 pounds and as of this morning (June 27th) my current weight is 189.4 pounds. I am admittedly frustrated that I am not really noticing any changes in my appearance or in my overall body composition, but I am determined to keep going despite the challenges and just do what I am physically capable of without putting pressure onto myself that would ultimately make me give up. Great job and such positive energy!!

Just want you to know that you will lose the weight off of your organs first! I’ve currently lost 30 lbs and there is no difference other than I don’t look 9 months pregnant when I’m bloated! You’ll start to notice little differences, your fingers will look smaller, your face, you might see more muscle definition but it’s definitely going to show! Take progress photos, I’m going to start doing with them soon, just haven’t worked up the courage to do so yet!

Do low intensity workout like a leisure outdoor walk for your 45 minute workout. It’ll help with the painful cramps also if you get them. Good luck! 😊
