Well done that man for posting this great vid. I'm pleased you got to see the wild camels on the drive down. I love it here in Siwa. That's why I sold up and moved here a year ago. What an amazing place. What amazing people. What an amazing life i have now. There is no end of things to do and see. Whether it's a visit to a hot spring or floating on the salt lakes or going on a desert safari with traditional cooking and music or walking round town or the sunsets from Fatnas or looking at the star studded Milky Way or going on mountain treks or visiting the Oracle, Mountain of the Dead, Alexander the Great's tomb or....there's no end to it and you definitely won't get bored. I'm sure Gabriel and anyone else who's been here will agree, pics and vids don't do the place justice. Siwa isn't just an amazing place, Siwa has an energy that i cannot put into words. It can only be experienced. It can be a bit of a trek to get here from Cairo especially for us older folks but, well worth the 10 hour taxi drive (£110 or £150 by micro bus) which we booked through local expat friends. Cairo taxis will cost much much more. Otherwise, there is a Cairo Siwa bus. Costs less than our taxi but a lot less comfy! For now, Siwa Airport only does chartered flights. Best time to visit is October to end of May. The summer is VERY hot. We clocked 49C on a couple of days then averaged out at 44C. January is the same as a good British summer (without the rain) with the evening chill which is eased by sitting by an open fire with some great company. the Safaris will cost depending on numbers and if overnighting. just about everything else is walk-in. In addition to Gabriels' vid, I hope this helps any would-be visitors.

Nice Shirt. This guy is an inspiration for all backpackers in the world. He is a genius at finding cheap hotels and shows that to travel you don't need money, you just need intelligence and the desire to travel!!!
@JC-lu4seАй бұрын
You most definitely need money; as much as backpackers think they're top of the tree in terms of travellers, flights, train and bus tickets, food, drink, insurance aren't free plus some of us don't want to be homeless any longer so we have rent/mortgages to pay as well.

He finds great deals, but I doubt his lifestyle is cheap. Just the plane tickets every month must be around $2k.

Your an amazing man, the amount and up to date videos you post is just THE BEST, as far as I can see most u tubers are posting videos long after they have left an area, this means there is no point in engaging with them, no point in suggesting places to visit etc.

My preferred routine is to wake up, film, edit that same footage in the afternoon or evening, get it uploaded and hopefully post it sometime before going to sleep. Then I wake up the next morning with a completely clean slate, caught up and ready to get started on the next one. I hate having mountains of old footage backed up.

Did the bus expirence from Sharm El-Sheikh to Cairo. I think it was like 8 or 9hrs. Siwa to either Hurgada or Sharm is like crazy long by bus. I think 14 to 19 hrs but you can then go diving in the Red Sea. Best in the world. Siwa salt lagoons look awesome at least in photos. The other option is Libya which is only 50km away, but getting a visa will most likely be a challenge.

Nice vid tx. I know you've been to those high interest Dynastic temples and pyramids etc, but most of us weren't watching then. It would be great to take us there if possible plse. The recent controversy about their real ages and purposes etc now makes that stuff so much more than just suposedly tombs for pharaohs etc.
@GabrielTravelerVideosАй бұрын
I agree, they're definitely worth a revisit, especially since that was fifteen years ago and I have a better camera now. Not planning to on this trip but I'll consider going back sometime in the future. I did revisit the pyramids a few years ago: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJCYdKSkoriIfM0

Ok great, as well as the pyramids there's so much more amazing stuff to explore there. For example Ben from Unchartered X talks about those mysterious boxes at the Serapeum or how Ramses statue has perfect symmetry cut granite, evidence of power saws used for stone cutting blocks and massive lathe use etc. Lots of great video content for sure.
