@lunahahnemann78856 жыл бұрын
Lu Kaplan very true indeed that having a monkey as a family member is expensive like with human children, takes up a whole lot of one's life time like with human children, and involves a huge demand of absolute, unconditional, ultra patient dedication just like with human children. See, having a monkey as a family member is just like having a human child in one's life, an extended child who will live and die as one. That is the major difference. On the flip side, a monkey will NOT cost millions in college tuition, amongst other issues. There is always a give & take with these choices. So, if a monkey OR a child ends up in the hands of the WRONG person, it SURE will be a disaster. Hence the sociopaths out there doing mass shootings, serial rapes, et al... The point is, ANY dependent life that needs the help of a human being to live with dignity will turn out A DISASTER in the "wrong" hands, be it a dog, a cat, a hamster, AND a _plant_ . I honestly don't see the point with the insistence _against_ monkey ownership when we, as a species have a track record of not being good parents to anything... There will be good animal owners and bad ones. There is way too much hype surrounding "not owning monkeys". It helps scaring off bad humans who will just turn around and be bad to dogs and cats... 😒

Maybe those 'temper tantrums' are actually the poor monkey trying to tell you it wants to be FREE, with it's own kind, in the trees, not having to piss and poop in a diaper 24/7 and not kept on a leash and in a cage? Jesus. Poor thing.

Terry Melvin well considering the alternative for him, it's very much so living. Canines are not necessary if he isn't living in the wild. They are used when fighting primarily. Also being neutered just decreases his need and want to mate. In actuality it is much kinder to his psyche than to let him be a virile male and then deny him a mate, THAT would be cruel. @camo21566 ай бұрын
The amount of people praising her in the comments is disgusting. "But at least she looks after him really well!!" She bought this monkey from a breeder, separating him from his mother at 3 WEEKS OLD. That is horrible. In the wild they stay with their mothers for up to a year or more. A lot of the blame should of course go on the breeder in this situation, but she is enabling the breeding by purchasing an animal from them. Aside from that, he lives in social isolation apart from interacting with humans, and one other capuchin monkey who isn't even the same species as he is. In the wild, white-faced capuchins live in groups of 10-20 individuals. She is keeping him in her house like a cat when he is a wild animal that should have a large outdoor enclosure. Even that wouldn't technically be enough considering these animals travel up to 3km a day in the wild, but it would be more adequate than a small indoor cage. It is never okay to keep primates as house pets, I do not care how well people think they are taking care of them.
@camo21566 ай бұрын
I know this video is 5 years old, but this horrible trade is still going on to this day. @mchevre Жыл бұрын
@@soldatolacrimosa1868 There's a huge difference between cats and dogs, which naturally become independent from their mothers pretty early on (although 8 weeks old as is typical is definitely too early for separation), and a primate like a monkey who by nature will rely on their mother for MUCH longer, and both the mother and baby form a deep emotional bond with each other. There's a reason primates don't have litters, and usually have either single babies or twins - it's because primate babies are so dependent on their mothers for so long, thus nature selected single births and deep emotional bonds. So when a tiny infant monkey is taken from his mother to be sold as a pet, there are two victims. Both mother and baby are traumatized. The baby, hopefully, recovers and re-bonds with the human - but it doesn't make it okay. Cats/dogs? They walk away as soon as they can wean the litter. Birds? As soon as it can leave the nest, buh bye. Reptiles? They often don't even bother to stick around after laying the eggs Amphibians/fish? Squirt out the eggs and cya Primates are very different, and are much closer to the relationship between a human mother and baby than they are to any other pet example you could compare them to.

MonkeyXander but surely these wild animals belong in the wild. Surely you would not reccomended others to keep wild animals as pets, captive bred or not. If the demand is not there, then they can't be exploited by other responsible owners and all monkeys can have a more natural life in the wild. They can't exactly climb trees, meet other species and roam for miles from your house. Clearly, monkeys prefer a wild life as a wild caught one would never adapt to a caged lifestyle.

You're my favorite monkey mom on youtube. You're more dedicated than some of the others that just seem to want the fad pet. My daughter was in Honduras last July, met a Capuchin monkey named Paco. Paco lives near an orphanage where the mission team volunteers. She sent the most adorable video of him loving how she was holding/cuddling him. They were down there again last week, she once again spent time with Paco and felt he remembered her (perhaps through smell). He was so unbelievably sweet, loving her up while she held him. Sending you love from Massachusetts! ❤💕❤

Primates are not pets. That one needs a group of monkeys so he knows or at least monkey friends. It isnt a baby, he is a primate needing friends of his own kind. I get so sad to see monkeys as pets. 😓

Normally, I've seen people who buy monkeys spoil them with unhealthy food and little animal-appropriate enrichment. However, Stephanie demonstrates a great deal of responsibility with her capuchin, Xander. There are plenty of toys, an large enclosure/cage with many toys and climbing bars/swings to keep him entertained. I would be interested in viewing how Xander behaves with any surrogates/dolls Stephanie has provided him as this behavior would be the most indicative of Xander's mental well-being.

I owned a capuchin in 1972. He had been owned by Johnny Cash. He bought the monkey for his daughter who totally wreaked the little monster. I worked with him for a year but there was no way I was going to fully domesticated the wild beast. He was fun, but exhausting.
@2323sark4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely obscene keeping an intelligent sentient creature like a monkey as a pet. They should never be kept as pets or treated like a human child. It’s abuse of the worst kind. Keeping monkeys as pets needs to be outlawed as soon as possible and these despicable breeders shut down

So what does a " happy" Monkey look like? Yeah he looks happy now but wait until he hits puberty and is denied the life he should have, the right to seek and choose a mate......he'll rebel, he'll masturbate constantly and he'll bite. He's a wild animal and he's in captivity. There is no such thing as a happy captive monkey.
@jinnidog54803 жыл бұрын
@@JusticeFortheSilenced I agree the monkeys should b left with mom to be free.
