Important clarifications: 1. This is NOT a sponsored video, I reached out to the companies and some gave me a discount code cause why not. 2. Apparently this came across like a long infomercial to some people. That sucks. If you think I was dishonest, that's fine. Continue to be skeptical, I'd do the same. 3. Don't make purchasing decisions just based on this video. If in doubt, don't buy. Clearly, I'm an idiot who's just documenting my newbie experience here. This is not a review video. It's more like an introduction to the topic as I explore it myself for the first time. Some people asked for my final opinion on nootropics and frankly speaking, I don't have one yet. I'll continue using them at times (they're all sitting on my shelf now, so why not lol), but as of right now I don't like the idea of taking substances I might depend on later. That's why I've never started drinking coffee. Who knows, might change. Make your own opinions 😁
@laurabenjamin3 жыл бұрын
@Leon Hendrix Thanks for taking time to clarify, as I do think it's important for creators to find well-aligned sponsors. I can't speak for others but the disappointment and "infomercial" feeling for me was that your number 1 option also happened to be the one that had an affiliate checkout code. It's easy to read that as, rather than an impartial review of different nootropic products, you're potentially receiving an affiliate bonus for having positioned their product as the "best" or "#1" answer out of those you tried. Whether you went into it with that intent, or even are receiving an affiliate fee or not, the impression is made by the sequencing of the video and the one product being the only one with a discount offer. If it had been otherwise clarified in the story, or had there been multiple links / ways for people to try all of these at a discount, it would likely have been received much differently. It didn't come off as totally dishonest or disingenuous, and you're not an idiot - you've obviously been successful in your career so far. Just look at this feedback as data for how different people can read angles into your communication that you hadn't necessarily considered or intended. Keep up the great work.

If you go to sleep bofore you are tired, take the cold shower in the morning and exercise every day you will be sharp and healthy without any pills. For example, I did regular swimming workout, then I noticed that my brain worked better. Its is quite logical: when swimming the brain is at the same level as heart, the blood flow to the brain is very good resulting sharper thinking. All the processes in our bodies are related to blood circulation, if this works well then anything else will work too. The pills, coffe and energy drinks are like a loan, that you have to pay back in the future. And the payday can come unexpectedly.

For anyone curious about consistently trying these brain enhancing drugs, I highly recommend that even with the lower dosage brain enhancers you use sparingly only when you feel you need it. The brain naturally adapts to its internal environment, so if you use caffeine and a drug cocktail to make the perfect head space to work. Eventually your brain will expect that as the norm and you will have serious difficulty functioning without constantly using these drugs. There is no drug that will teach you how to learn a language in a day or juggle chainsaws or something. Intelligence isn’t a momentary state but rather a skill achieved through mental training and practice

Getting a blood test done can reveal a lot. On my first visit to my current Primary Care Physician, she was very thorough in getting to know my personal health: she went over dietary habits, physical activities, and sleep schedules and asked me for information about energy levels, ability to focus, and general mental status. She also ordered some blood work and reviewed family history to get the best idea for where I was and what I could do for the healthiest lifestyle. To end the trip she drew some blood and ordered me to come in for a review once the labs came back. I had been slightly lethargic, but it hadn't felt too crazy or like it was really impacting me during the day. After going through my blood work, she zeroed in on some areas and next appointment gave me suggestions to adjust my diet. Zinc, vitamin B, and vitamin D were the big 3 I needed, and following her recommendations had a MAJOR impact on my focus and productivity. From work to the gym, it was huge: the thing is, though, it wasn't some magic pill or life hack, just knowing what your body needs and respecting that each day. It also wasn't an overnight change and it took a few weeks to get my levels to the right spot, but the difference with hindsight was so stark.
@DylanBFishkeeper2 жыл бұрын
@Michiel W For some reason your comment only loaded after I replied to OP. Depending on how helpful your PCP is, you can ask them to do some blood work to see what your levels are as you're not sure how well your diet is covering your nutritional needs. Mine isolated a few key nutrients I was deficient in and was able to recommend dietary changes and supplements I could take to cover for them. Alternatively, you can also look at daily recommended values for a person of your build and compare that to your typical weekly diet to see where you're likely over/under. Weekly outlooks are better than daily as you get a better macro view of your habits and it can help you plan to fix it (meal prepping is great for both saving money and getting a well-rounded diet).

Seriously, the placebo effect is well represented here. I propose that most of the successful people noted in the video were already successful prior to taking any 'super' pill. Sure, they probably took vitamins and minerals plus a few other well-known mood-enhancing stimulants that have been available for decades in the typical health food store, but I rather doubt that they could name a single legal substance that had provided them with truly enhanced mental abilities outside of caffeine. I'm also sure that many of those persons also lost a lot of sleep, ate poorly, and only exercised occasionally too while they were pursuing their passion! There is no magic pill for success, despite what the marketing on the bottle asserts. It all involves hard work, discipline, persistence, and a can-do attitude...with a little luck and being in the right place at the right time thrown in for good measure. Other than that, having a marketable talent or a healthy inheritance helps too...
@RandomInternetStranger3 жыл бұрын
This is very true. I don't think it was entirely a placebo, and there was clearly caffeine in most if not all of the pills used in this video. It's a curse because of the un-healthy things people put in pills and tell others to buy, the blessing is that people put stuff into pills which actually works and tell others to buy. As a psychedelic psychologist who's passion is studying consciousness I took a look at their stacks. While they don't put amounts, there are some ingredients that are certainly effective to a certain degree. It is cheaper and more effective to buy the individual ingredient supplements and keep a journal of how they effect you to create your own stack. I am very surprised to not see adrafonil in a single one of their stacks. Adrafonil, or the better prescription version modafonil, is probably the most potent nootropic on the market. I didn't see noopep, nor any choline stacks. The marketing is insane with these products.

There are very valid reasons for not using modafinil...The wide spectrum of negative reactions with other common/widely used medication + bad side effects reported in medicines like Modiodal for example , make the substance not that desirable in nootropics. I take a low dose though, started a year ago. Only taking 15mg extended release, so not too powerful. Pretty much the difference I feel is that I just don't get groggy in times that I used to get groggy. I'm sure if I took a higher dose I'd feel more of the focus part of the drug. I just don't want to become dependent in feeling a certain way all the time. I just like the fact that I don't get groggy, nothing else feels different really, so I think I'm going to stick to 15mg.

It’s a trip how everyone’s brain is different. I got diagnosed as an adult recently with ADHD (32yrs old) and I take 40mg Adderal extended release daily. I can almost not focus or be productive on days I don’t take it or forget to take it. My life had always felt like I was running in a race with my shoelaces tied together that I could not untie. And all my life everyone passing me by would just tell me to untie my shoes, or that I was lazy because I wouldn’t just untie them. Now, I was able to get really good at running with them tied, but getting diagnosed and medicated made it to where my laces were now untied. I’m still not the fastest, and I now have to learn how to run again, but the difference is night and day. I was almost resentful at first when I finally took the dive to get diagnosed as it made me wonder what all missed opportunities I may have passed, or where I could’ve been as an adult with my shoes not tied together. Wierd rant but just trips me out how the brain works, and how everyones brain is different.

@@wadavis2011 I love the metaphor you used. "My life had always felt like I was running in a race with my shoelaces tied together that I could not untie.", nice... Definitely a great way of describing how stuck one can get when having ADHD. Yeah the mind is such a powerful thing. There's a lot of truth (within reason) when people talk about being able to manifest something tangible into their life through the power of attraction and belief. Like if you think it, and it will come. Although there's more to it than just willpower and positive thinking, but the mind is very powerful in that since. I'm 31, and I can tell you that I really wasted the first decade and a half of my life. I really did, and I'm still trying to get out of the habits I have created over the years that have held me back for so long. I'd say Adderall, even though I initially stated in my op that all it does is get rid of the grogginess I used to experience. That's somewhat untrue, because even though I don't feel any extra effects. Since I have started taking Adderall, the rate at which I have felt progression in my life has gone way up. I am being more proactive rather than reactive to my situation. I am now actively working at bettering myself and the root of what has held me back, rather than just always reacting to it. Not sure if that's just a coincidence or a direct result of taking Adderall, but I'd like to think Adderall has contributed.

But finally I took the dive and set up the appointment. And trust, that was one of the most difficult calls I had to make. I felt like a failure for not being able to fix my life without medication! I was told all my life that I was lazy, too unfocused, too hyper, always in my head, and worst of all, that I had a lot of potential that was wasted. The process is long and tedious to boot. Took me multiple psychiatrist & psychologist appointments $$, and over a month to do! But man, am I glad I dialed that phone! At first I was sad, and angry at realizing that none of that was my fault, and that I my brain just needed a little help. Worse even is that my parents were told many times that I should probably get tested for adhd and they would get mad at the teachers for even mentioning it, and refused to get me diagnosed. Who knows where my life would’ve ended up. I would never trade my life for a different one and all the challenges made me a stronger person. Off the shelf stimulants are used as catalysts to boost the effects of the natural nootropics. Choline is made into acetylcholine - your brains memory chemical - It also helps your brain communicate with all of your skeletal muscles( the ones you can control, - not the heart ) so that helps your muscle memory and the control of your entire body in general . I take Alpha Brain, the 40$ product and many of it's ingredients inhibit aceytyl cholinesterase (like Huperza A from the Huperzia Serrata plant - used in herbal eastern medicine), the enzyme that breaks down acetylcholine. So your brain has way more acetylcholine floating around! I haven't tried focus aid but I will have to try it now! :D Huperza A has a similar pharmacology to memantine - a prescription drug that is used in treating alzheimers disease! You’re absolutely right about the second secret, and it’s something I’ve learned by reading on my own and listening to people in the design world. The sooner you can find your niche, the better. And that niche is the intersection of what you’re good at and what you find interesting. The reason why it can be so off putting is because you’re essentially exposed to the same type of problem over and over again which sounds... not enjoyable. Very monotonous and boring. And a number of people change too soon just because they’re just going through a rut. But the benefits you reap by being an expert in a field are absolutely worth it. The different areas of your brain are kinda like your muscle groups. If you want to grow your biceps you need to target them with curls. The more you work out a certain muscle, the more you can increase blood flow to those muscles and you will begin to build a "mind to muscle" connection. This connection eventually will give you greater control over that muscle and more sensation there. The same concept can apply to the brain in certain ways. Memory for example, if you want to flex your memory muscle you should target memory by playing memory games, or by learning memory building exercises and practicing them routinely. Focusing intensely on the processes of memory, without any distractions, is similar to physically flexing your muscles. Now find a way to increase the blood flow to these areas of the brain while you also target the areas with a solid workout and your set up for success. A good healthy diet that promotes blood flow to the brain is your best bet. But if you want to take it up a notch you can get "smart pills" or "brain pills" to aid in the process of working out the target areas. But you need to do your research to find out exactly what the smart pills do to your body, and decide whether or not that particular process is even beneficial to improving the target area of your brain. Otherwise taking a pill that momentarily increases "brain power" is like smoking meth. Eventually your body will become dependent, and with dependency comes very many harmful side affects. Obviously you don't want that 🤣

This is spot on. I am extremely passionate about intelligence and have studied the training of fluid intelligence and nemory for months, and indeed studies, often confused as "you can't train fluid intelligence only specific skills", show that fluid intelligence is highly compartmentalized and thus a general and highly diverse approach is likely the key to increased "g" / general fluid intelligence. While studies are very early on the more important and larger areas of the brain such as the frontal cortex, unless I'm mistaken the memory center of the brain, The Hippocampus, has even been shown to replenish it's own brain cells throughout the entire human life-span rather than solely in childhood, and there have been vague hints for the cortex as well. It may turn out this "adult neurogenesis" is extremely negligible, but hopefully that also means that rven beyond the neuroplasticity of surviving brain cells, adults have just as much potential for training intelligence as children, barring the extra EXTRA boost kids get during early childhood that is. Furthermore, the brain alone consumes roughly 20% of the human body's total oxygen, and it has apparently been observably proven that cardiovascular exercise can increase IQ, so I'm personally taking up a weekly sprinting routine to hopefully up my blood-oxygen levels for the fluid-intelligence benefits.

@wanderer.antonio This is very interesting and I really appreciate the question! You asked the right person cause I spent 6 years in the occult largely specializing in 1940s'-era Hermeticism and I've spent the last 3 years worldbuilding an everything-fiction studying everything from quantum/nuclear/chemical physics to psychology and economics • Do I believe the universe could be a simulation? The empirical evidence leans starkly towards "No", as without invoking all kinds of unfalsifiable "add-on"s to life, the universe and physics as it is doesn't seem to accomplish anything significantly meaningful, and what it does accomplish (some good sapient lives and stories), it does extremely inefficiently with vast missed potential • it will just lead to the creation of more and more detailed abstractions of the original "approximated" logical tools and recognized patterns Well most of physics doesn't really change though, I guess you're mostly thinking about Quantum physics but there's almost certainly an end to that regression just simply due to the swarzchild-radius, cause typically particles are the total energy/mass of their components minus some losses, and if you just keep adding extra mass to smaller and smaller particles eventually you'd get a black-hole, so unless there's some very very bizarre physics at that scale we're likely near the fundamental limit of scale already. As for everything else, the speed of light has never changed; the coupling-constant of gravity has never changed, Science may be currently growing but eventually it's giving every hint it'll one day be an obsolete field with no further improvements proven when the various mathematical formulæ can perfectly predict every onservable phenomenon to the last planck-length. Other things could exist, the math could be inaccurate, but if those things are never relevant to human life in the span of existence then it's no more provably real than a pink flying elephant and there's no benefit to speculating much about it. I've studied these fundamental limits of physics for years and slowly pieces them together to predict the maximum physical potential of technology as close as possible and I call it the "MPP era". I've been writing a worldbuilding project in the MPP era for years now and it has radically changed my entire worldview and ideology 😁. • (IE) nah nah I wouldn't make this at all. I'd make a reality of infinite bliss or something. There is no rational basis for this sorta pain and struggle when physics could be simply modeled in a different manner where people could simply have their cake and eat it too. But at the least I'd add a consistent and fulfilling tech-tree that allows humans to tap into more than 0.0000000000000000000001% of reality's potential. This reality by all evidence can't be made by any sort of benevolent intelligent entity, or even a cruel entity since there's way better ways to torture innocents. The evidence simply suggests it's a random accident • (the support paragraph) well it isn't fundamentally ordained that humans should or must do that, in fact, if you sit and judge what Reality's intentions are for humanity based on it's actions, it just paints the picture of a mindless amalgam coincidentally resulting in a pretty mid bur survivable reality. First of all, humans will likely never reach beyond their galaxy at all because the universe is expanding faster than the speed of light and the gravity of the galaxy alone is what holds anything together to attainably static distances, and even then, at literally 99% the speed of light it would take 99,000 years for generation-ships to reach the outer-rim anyway. And a great point I'd like to add to this is, if something wanted humanity to achieve great things like that, why wouldn't it simply create existence with both mass and anti-mass so they could create warp-ships and fly there in 3 weeks? Why wouldn't they allow gravity, the folding of space itself, to propagate superluminally like the expansion of space in Real Life and allow teleportation via an assembly of black-hole pistons remotely pulling the unified-field into the exact nucleosynthesis of your own body at the other edge of the universe instantly? While it could be anything, the most empirically likely reason of course, is that this reality is a random accident and humans are lucky there's any potential-energy to survive on at all

I did a 10 day purified water fast in 2015 (was trying for 30 days though) at age 46 and the first 4 days became more and more difficult... but after 4 days (96 hours) I woke up with the most incredible natural high and mental clarity and tremendous energy and limitless focus and memory. Everything I experienced from all of my senses was PURE BLISS. I wasn't hungry AT ALL. Prior to that I was suffering from extreme fatigue and Parkinson's-like symptoms for several years. After the 10th day I started to experience hunger so I slowly drank some coconut water and small amounts of fruit until I was able to eat a full meal again. I hate how people heard "The Placebo Effect" from some KZbin video amd assumes that they're now an expert on the topic. It's almost as if they were tricked by the Placebo of knowing about Placebo's made them think they know everything about Placebo.
@PhilosophiceRetardari3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you scroll down and like 2/6 comments are about placebo, it's just dumb, the placebo effect cannot make you have energy to the extent of caffeine or more hardcore drogs like cocaine. And after seeing the video is fair to assume is at least as strong as caffeine, tho it looks it has a more powerful effect.
@Enderplays123 жыл бұрын
@@PhilosophiceRetardari The placebo effect CAN actually make you feel like you have the energy, which is why there is such a thing as a blind trial even with things such as vaccines. Hell, even some cases of chronic migraines, child hyperactivity, insomnia, were dealt with the participants knowing it was all going to be all in their head. They got into a decomissioned MRI machine, it rolled for a few minutes, and the problem was gone. That's exactly what most of these nootropic companies bank on. They give you caffeine, which makes your adrenal glands release adrenaline (it's all caffeine does, which is why the guy kept getting the "buzz", stronger as the pills were more expensive [and undoubtedly had more caffeine], and people dependent on coffee get angry as hell and constant headaches when withdrawing from intensive use, going as far as even insomnia, paradoxically), they add some vitamins and amino acids (because if any of these are low on our organism, we might feel drowsy or find it difficult to focus), and then, when your heart is pumping with the caffeine, your body has those little extras that were missing, and you feel the buzz, you top it all off with placebo. Cue productivity, you're feeling good and hyped. It's not a matter of "Oh it's a placebo so it doesn't work", it's about "It's a placebo, which is why it WORKS". Many peer reviewed studies have shown time after time that it's all that it is, and many companies in the EU get shut down all the time for stretching the marketing too far. The secret of being successful isn't spending 400 dollars every now and then on strawberry flavored caffeine pills. Work effectively, which means have a schedule, be physically healthy through diet and exercise (gets the nutrients and the blood releases endorphines AND adrenaline during and after the exercise), and focus on one mastery. I don't know the whole composition of those pills, but to be freely sold without prescriptions and pharmaceutical licenses, it really can't be anything but a supplement, which really calls it out. Increase food variety instead and the same nutrients will be supplemented by it, without the post caffeine crash. That's all there is to it, unless there's an actual neurological imbalance (like adhd for example, which I have, and have first-handedly [albeit anedoctally] felt the effects of both the placebo, and the insane rush of focus of actual amphetamines that I got prescribed. It feels nothing like the nootropics I've ever tried, since they are directly affecting the dopamine reuptake all the way inside the brain instead of just getting you pumped to do stuff with adrenaline). Also, @mabi mabi was probably referring to the Dunning Kruger curve. The burst of bias and confidence about a subject that is most seen in those less informed about said subject. This video would only be useful as a very basic test, if someone gave him just the pill and he said how he felt without knowing which one it was. It's hard tricking our subconscious, so even if we are wary of the placebo, we often are still caught by it.
@ishrendon64353 жыл бұрын
@@Enderplays12 but even then placebo is still a mystery you cant just say placebo as if you know what placebo is. As someone who is in medicine we dont know why placebo works or how it works why is that when you have confidence in a substance it can change the effects of it. Why is it that modern medicine created by brilliant people in many cases is no better than placebo in treating patients?? Who knows?? We might find out in the future

Things I've taken from this video- 1. Brain boosters can potentially be very effective in the short term. 2. Sticking to the fundamentals is the key to success for most people. 3. Specialization can be the key to exponential growth. 4. Reflecting on and focusing on what will make the single biggest impact is more effective than trying to find the dozen or so smaller things that will divide your attention. 5. Elon Musk works according to his own set of unique rules and shouldn't be copied unless someone has already mastered these basics, and also has no need or desire for anything but the purest purpose of their company or service to work as effectively as possible in the world. Elon is the exception to every rule, not the rule itself.

I’ve done a lot research on Nootropics. One of the things I don’t like is that a lot of these just have caffeine, zinc, some form of green tea extract, and b vitamins. If you just get the raw ingredients, you’ll do better. There are exceptions. Vasayo makes a great brain pill called “Neuro” which just has really good ingredients in it, and doesn’t focus on stimulants. It’s part of my daily ritual, as well as Rhodiola Rósea by Nature’s Way, and L-Theanine (super important). Funny enough, taking fish oils daily also improves focus. It’s more of a background thing that’s just important to do. If course, I also take b-vitamins, and vitamin d, and a bunch of other stuff. But the ones I mentioned here are ones that I have isolated, taken on their own, and noticed huge differences.
