A Farm triangle in the lost Petra city would have helped quite a lot. Would still suck as a city, but would at least be a city. Could have a 4 farm cluster there at the north. Debatable if worth the worker charges, but I think it would be worth. GG .. very well played. nice content
@matsiv57072 ай бұрын
probably not worth the worker charges. If you don't have decent workable tiles, no point in having food surplus to make population that just costs amenities

i noticed you never check what free eurekas you got from libraries, i would have thought that thats pretty important to know so you dont need to go for e.g. an armoury as early also, if you go internals anyways and have moksha 2, why not go straight for moksha 3 aswell especially with faith buying districts?

Herson, do you think it's worth going out of your way to get the inspiration for Feudalism? As Babylon, you might get enough Palgum value to justify 2 builders into 6 farms. I can see how this could be a significant tempo loss, but I was wondering if you know of you or anybody else attempting it at least.
@beraor42962 ай бұрын
if you have an etemanki city its ok but outside of that.
@matsiv57072 ай бұрын
mostly if you have Etemenanki. I had one game of babylon where I had a 7 tile floodplain+etemenanki and it was worth making a couple builders to improve it. If you try to force farms with little value you waste 10 builder charges (because you made 2 3 charge builders)

How do I get good at Multiplayer civ without needing to have a calculator by my side to know district costs and hidden mechanics?

@morpheus242 ай бұрын
Make a tally mark list with two columns. It's super effective.
@beraor42962 ай бұрын
This kind of optimisation is really not a big deal. The fact that its a "hidden" mechanic and it involves "math" makes it looks like its way more than it is. Cause well, "hidden" mechanic (which are in the milion views on yt at this point) and counting to 6 or "math" are both ego inflating. But you can make it simple. You need an equal amount of districts completed than unlocked then you can discount a district you havent build yet. Use the empire lens (by default you press 9) to see your districts. If you want a guideline to apply it more easily. On a standard com hub game, you can get 3 com hub in your starter cities. Discount the plaza cause it ll be 3/3. With games and recreation thats 4/4, you can discount a campus. Thats 2 easy discount you can get, the third one is not hard either but it depends a bit more on how things goes for you. Just look at when you get iz and theaters. After that you ll need to pay more attention and most people wont bother but up to 6 disctricts unlocked its "mathematicaly" pretty simple to keep discounting. You have to keep in mind that the formula update on civic tech completion or settling a city. The issue is having the right pace to discount things, getting district completion and unlocks in line so you dont waste turns waiting for discount while district just get more expansive as you unlock more techs. Which is how you get good, not by learning how to discount but by having a proper pace (settle right cities, work and improve the right tiles, be on top of your amenities etc...) So all in all you can discount nothing and still do more than fine. There are more things you can do before ever bothering to discount anything. Anyways dont sweat it.

Why did you settle the Petra city in the second location rather than where you were going to settle originally? The original location seems like it would be a better Petra city: captures mode desert tiles, has access to those two desert hills on the east, and the elephants. Could you explain a bit?

The fact that the whole metagame is based around some invisible aribtrary formula for district discounting is so cringe
@dcreaper29432 ай бұрын
can you elaborate on this? Newer to the game
@beraor42962 ай бұрын
All formulas are invisble and arbitrary but good job on the key words. The issue of it is being unintuitive and has some weird twerks to it. And no the whole meta game doesnt revolve around discounting. Not like its hard to discount a few, but yet it doesnt matter as much as you think. You shove 3 turns worth of production in the best case. Thats really the least impactful optimisation you have to learn in this game.
@beraor42962 ай бұрын
@@dcreaper2943 You can get a 35% production discount on specialty districts base on the amount of districts unlocked, completed and placed. Herson has a video on it. In most cases, people ll discount 2/3 districts.
