I enjoy your videos and the comedy skits you do with Mr. Eats. You two remind me of Lucy and Ricky. World class comedy I tell ya. I would like to visit Japan but I probably won't. I can learn about Japanese culture online and save a bundle. And you'll have one less tourist on your crowded subway. The restaurant bus is a good idea, hope the food was good, take care!

My Son and I had been planning on visiting Japan in December to spend Christmas and New Years, but some health issues cropped up for me.😭 I'm beyond disappointed, in fact I've cried many times over this. I need a miracle to happen! Maybe we'll do it in 2024. I'd enjoy the bus restaurant, I'm sure. I'll have to share this video with my Son, though I doubt he'd enjoy it. Haha, it's time to humour his Mom though, so if I go, he's definitely coming along. Besides, how often do people get such a great view above them?

HA! That was unexpected.... me and my family group stayed in a hotel/inn just a couple of blocks away from Yasui Kompiragu Shrine back in our trip in 2018. xD And I didn't even know it was a "break-up shrine"... ROFL I immediately recognized it because of the entrance, pretty unusual. It had this drab almost brutalist looking entrance to it, followed by a parking lot, and only deeper inside you have the shrine. It looks more modern and urbanized shrine in comparison to others. But we entered the temple from the side, so it didn't look as... sad perhaps? This is also very close to Gyon, which we went on foot from there. It was a bit too packed with tourists, we didn't even went up to Kyomizu-dera because it was too packed full of people, plus we had already visited it in our first trip to Japan back in 2008. They have a stone or wall with a hole thing inside the shrine (Yasui Kompiragu I mean) there that pregnant women are supposed to go through for luck... xD They didn't tell us anything about breaking up. xD Fun story - I booked the stay in Kyoto completely wrong. We spent a weekend there, in the midst of a hurried and confusing planning I had to do for all of the 6 members of my family (mostly at retirement age), I think I missed a zero or something and this weekend 3 day 2 night stay cost over almost 10 days of stay in Tokyo. :P Kind of a shock when we got there, I only realized the mistake when we were already at the lobby. Part of the family didn't have enough cash on hand for it, so we had to redistribute the money, lend some, and balance things out or we weren't staying there. :P It's the problem of having only me planning the whole trip and have to constantly make yen to dollar to our currency conversions... I screwed up at some point. But I kinda don't regret. Each double room was basically a full small apartment, they even had combo washer driers in each individual room, which just coincided right at the time we urgently needed to wash our clothes anyways. It was also far more comfy than the regular tiny Appa executive hotel rooms that half the group were staying so far (the other half stayed at a relative's home there, basically sleeping in a tatami floor). One of my uncles thanked me for booking that place because it had a full comfy bed to sleep on, he was a bit tired of sleeping on tatami floor with futon. :P Despite being pretty urban in the middle of city center, it was a pretty nice and calm neighborhood... weirdly enough, it's not exactly in Gyon, but that area has the streets and feel of Gyon - narrow streets, short blocks. It's right at the border of it, that's probably why. I'm pretty sure that also, the place we stayed is meant more for couples and newlyweds that will want to walk around in Gyon with kimono and whatnot, not a bunch of retirees... but whatever. xD I think it was right next to a love hotel. xD Only makes sense that right next to the break-up shrine, you have a few streets with love hotels... :P
