We always turn it into soup, not quite like that though. Usually just boil the bones with some other stuff to make a stock, then add in some veggies and the leftover meat and you got chicken soup.

Plenty of people in the States buy those chickens to use in other recipes as well, so its not all that odd to see you throw one in a hot pot like that. That actually looks amazing.

Notice how while talking to the camera in Costco, Mrs Eats respectfully lowers her voice to not bother other people. I love that. Here in the US any random KZbinr would be talking all loud, to attract attention, as if they thought of themselves "we are Hollywood stars".

Not at all. Countries throughout Europe and Australia ( I cannot attest to North America) offer FAR more delicious, healthier, and fresher options for sandwiches ! From rye to multigrain to Turkish breads, to far fresher, bigger ranges of veggies & meats, without ANY of the awful sweet, sugar - soaked goop that the Japanese love to encase in vacuumed plastic packaging ! No beetroot, no carrot, no Swiss cheese! The list goes on ! And the ‘bread’ they eat ! As soft as cream ! Fit for kiddies ! And DREADFULLY sweet ! Btw, octopus is NOT AT ALL limited to ‘ Japanese food ‘ ! You obviously know NOTHING about food in Greece, Dalmatia, Liguria, or much of the Mediterranean ! Sigh….i really shouldn’t watch this channel ! The arrogance & presumptions are simply colossal ! Still, ignorance is obviously bliss, isn’t it ?…😂

I found a wonderful Japanese item in my US costco, Bachan’s Japanese barbecue sauce. I will literally put it on anything, it is soo good. I find it interesting that aside from being filled with Japanese people and lots of Japanese products everything else about Costco is identical to anywhere else. The building, the shelves, the layout, the signs etc.

That sandwich in bread idea is a take on coffin bread. The Vietnamese way to hollow out a loaf of bread and stuff it with something. It’s the Japanese way to use something. Yeah the coffin bread name isn’t great but it comes from how it looks without the lid. But in actuality it’s a take on the old French toast thing where old bread is used in some way to avoid waste. You should see this one Costco in Oregon somewhere as it has a freezer section of whole animals. Very few people even know what to do with that but whole animal roasting is a thing. Unusually large amounts of Wagyu beef has been coming in lately but it’s American Wagyu from California and Texas.

American Costco food court had done away with the onions and deli mustard for the dogs, the bun is smaller with the dog sticking out at both ends and with no sesame seeds, and the pizza has changed in preparation. Plus they only have cheese and pepperoni pizza available. And there are less items on the board like no more cheese burgers.

Take the chicken, break it down, use the meat and skin in the hotpot (maybe half the skin plus half the oil from the bottom of the tray) then use the remaining bones and oils to make a really nice chicken broth that you can use to flavor curry, hayashi, miso soup ect. (add some konbu and dried しいたけ if you want) those chickens can really go a long way. I think if you just hotpot a whole bird you will get a lot of small bones, kidneys and other things from the inside of the bird,

The idea was you do like restaurants. You buy in bulk, freeze, eat over a period of weeks. Or as my family did, we got aunts and uncles, grandma, and split the food up. These days, people just go there as if it’s a regular supermarket. I’m sure there’s a correlation between the opening of Costco/Sam’s Clubs and the ride in obesity. Even in Japan the rare times I see fat people are usually at Costco.
