I can attest to your review. I’ve been using red light therapy every single day for the past 3 months, and it has caused a drastic change in my skin. My skin was glowing; it can also fade pimple marks and hyperpigmentation. Also, my friends noticed that my skin looked so clear and healthy. I suggest applying green tea and hyaluronic acid before using the device to achieve great results ❤

I agree with everything you said- I put on the mask + neck LED every morning while meditating for 20 minutes. My mood is better, too. People comment on my skin quality often. I have been using NuFace micro current for 5+yr. 5 days a week- just before my makeup. These devices don't take much time- just a habit either at night or morning. Thank you sooo much for making this video! I bought the Omnilux mask a few months ago before I saw your video, wasn't consistent with it. Used about once or twice a week. I (had) fungal acne/folliculitis on my right cheek for a couple years that would not go away. I used different products to treat it but would come back. I also remembered I read an article about led light therapy killing fungus in a science lab experiment. Folliculitis is very tricky to treat, generally speaking. Because of your video, I decided to be consistent everyday using the mask in the morning. Within a week and especially the second week, my folliculitis had been healing. I no longer have it anymore. I've also notice my mood being more positive. Having more motivation to finish tasks and accomplish my goals. So Thank you!!!!! For sharing and the inspiration!!!!❤🙏🏻🌻✨😊 I will continue to use everyday!!!!🙋‍♀️✨🌻❤

I have mild rosacea and other redness from occasional gluten/sugar sensitivities and I find that this mask has definitely helped minimize the redness and overall texture of my skin. I also have been using prescription Tretinoin for the past year as well and OTC retinol for 6 years, which has definitely helped with texture. Love your video! I started using an OmniLux mask about a month ago, and have seen subtle skin improvement so far. I also started using it on my hands, for osteoarthritis -- mine has an inflammatory effect although it's not rheumatoid arthritis. The skin over the arthritic area is red from the inflammation. I've found that after using the LED/IF mask, the redness was gone the next morning after using it the night before. The redness started to return maybe 24 hours later, but by using the mask on my hands everyday, the redness doesn't return. (I've since purchased the hand-mitt version for this purpose.) I've had that inflammatory redness for at least six years, so seeing it disappear is amazing !!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that continued use might help other autoimmune issues.

Am 54, wear sunblock every day since I was 24, I do tretinoin and vitamin C, botox for forehead and crow's feet, and conservative use of fillers. I am told I could pass for 30's, but time isn't kind and I can tell you I have benefitted financiallyand professionally from working to appear youthful. Sad, but true. It does matter. Thank you for this upload. I am a licensed esthetician who is more than familiar with LED therapy. But I had no idea it had the potential to have cognitive benefits in addition to topical. I wonder if this actually has something to do with the technology itself, or if it is from the mental aspect of having a self care step in your routine every morning. On a non speculating point, it makes sense from a scientific point of view that when the leds went out on one half the results would be notably differnt between the two sides of your face. LED therapy isn't a trend or a gimic. By nature it will always provide results if at the right wavelength. There are no if ands or buts about it. It's a clinically viable and widely used treatment with basically 100% success rate in clients if used regularly. So for those skeptical, it's absolutely worth it. It's one of the few at home technologies that I would endorse. And get the at home version and bite the bullet for upfront costs. As estheticians we charge from $150 up to over $500 for one LED light session. You need to use this consistently to see results. One session a few times a year won't do anything. Saying it now makes me feel guilty for charging that. Yes, a device could be $500+ but you buy it once. You'd spend close to 50k a year at the low end going in for treatment everyday. Which is how you'll get the best results. Doing it at home is much more economic and ensures you'll keep up with it in the future

I also microneedle my scalp once weekly and red light my scalp. They 100% improve my mood, and I have also used it on two injuries. A snapped UCL and a 3rd degree burn on my hand. They both healed extrenely well and fast. I think I had a large pimple on the back of my arm that took longer thsn my burn to heal. I’m going to do a more comprehensive skincare video soon, but for both my rosacea and acne, red light / near-infrared light therapy has been a huge help.

I’ve been considering getting a red light mask :) my only concern is near infrared. Have you seen any of the research that shows near infrared can damage skin? I know far-infrared is good for us. But yeah, I’ve read a few studies about NIR which has me hesitant. But I’m also wondering how beneficial simple red light LED without the infrared would be if I found a mask that didn’t use NIR 😅

I work for a young company called PassivaPLT that has developed a new way of delivering photobiomodulation therapy (PBMt): Through a material that converts ambient light (sunlight, etc) to specific red and IR lightwaves and can be added to creams, sunblocks etc. We're in the process of partnering to bring it to market. I know this sounds like a shameless plug, not my intention, but I'm excited about what we're doing.

I also love my LED mask, I have the Omnilux, pretty expensive, but as you said, we use them almost daily (I use mine probably 5 times a week), so the cost/use is not that huge... Like you I have very sensitive skin with rosacea and I have noticed a significant improvement in the last 3 months, my skin is so much calmer and clearer, especially after I had developed some horrible cystic breakouts (which I assume were caused by the collagen supplements I was taking), and also after spending some months in the merciless African summer. I hope I will also get to see results on some very fine lines that have appeared under my eyes (probably due to that African sun I was mentioning). I am also using the mask on my chest even though it's for the face. One question though, you said you use it for 20-30 minutes everyday? Apparently using it for too long could potentially be damaging - Claire Johnston on the Honest Channel has some interesting videos about this.

Hey👋 so I have no way to “measure” my mood but between using a light mask and actually going into a red light sauna regularly, I’ve found that red light makes me feel bright and energized. Not sure how to explain it any better. :) I would recommend finding a gym in your area that has a red light sauna (some gyms do!) and testing it out for a few days! This way you can assess for yourself how it feels before investing in any red light devices. Everyone’s experience is unique. Beyond gyms, there are also specialized clinics that have red light therapy rooms. Not sure where you live but I’m certain there’s going to be some way to test it out somewhere. ❤️

I'm not so sure about the face masks as skin health be it from the face or anywhere else comes and is an indicator of overall body health. I'm sure this helps somewhat, but first you need to eat right and don't forget to hydrate as recommended. Water helps release all the toxins from the body and once you do that your face and everywhere else will visibly improve. Also, don't forget to sleep as this is the time the body and the brain repairs itself ! You are young so your body responds to the healing effects of the wavelengths to a much greater degree since you don't have decades of toxins which have built up in your body. Us 50 year olds do. I've been trying to eat better and not drink so much coffee instead of water! Once I get that under control I'll probably try this at some point!

why do you use 20-30minutes? its says 10minutes is recommended and adding more time wont include any more benefits to the skin. be careful because the time is calculated in relation to the irradiance level of the device and too high irradiance is not beneficial to the skin, if you like long sessions you should check out the dermalux as that is recommended for 30minutes as the irradiance is lower because you lay under it as opposed to direct on the skin

Thanks so much for your comment. This is a really great point, I initially read somewhere that it's difficult to "over do" photobiomodulation, but I'm not sure that's true. I like to meditate between 20-30 minutes when I wake up and have noticed amazing skin benefits (with no perceivable drawbacks) following this routine. But to be safe, I will now switch to ten minutes on my face and ten minutes on my neck until I have done further research. :)

@brookekasprzyk4850 11 ай бұрын
Doing it longer means a higher dose, and you are treating deeper into the body. I am not entirely sure if you are treating the skin at 20-30 minutes (40-60 Joules of energy). These masks are designed for around 20 joules of energy for 10 minutes, which is ideal for skin health. But honestly there is no wrong way to do red light. If you like how your skin looks and how you feel, then it is fine! There’s a lot of research on overdosing the skin cells in order to reach deeper tissue but your skin looks great so it must be working!!

Great video! I have been reading all of the studies on red light therapy for wound healing and how it increases cell division and the mitochondria energy production of cells. i get a lot of superficial wounds from working outside on my ranch and also have some joint/muscle/tendon pain issues, but i have not had time or money to invest in a red light unit, so I have gone outside with the sun, now that it's just about summer, having very powerful intensity, which also has red light. Yes, even though it appears as white light, the red and far red light/infrared is in there of course. Sunlight has very high lux/lumen values that I'm thinking would far exceed even the artifical units. Since you maximimize vit D synthesis at 3 to 4 minutes of exposure from UV, not the 7 to 8 minutes that they say results in burning, i do not think this will have any DNA damaging or aging effects since I just lay on each side for about 4 minutes. When you exceed 3 to 4 minues the sun actually begins to degrade some of the vitD that has formed according to a Scandivian study i read giving the 3 to 4 minutes time span as optimum. Plus I drink green tea before going out and the polyphenols are known to protect skin against UV-B damage. Then after 5 pm when the long rays of the sun are more predominant (higher in red light compared to blue or UV), then I go out for longer to maximize more red light without any worry of UV at that time. There may some UVA., but i do not think its enough to cause damage or burning. I have noticed incredible healing effects of joint and muscle pain, and my skin looks very smooth and healthy from this sun/red light therapy.
@TheScienceofSelfCare
@TheScienceofSelfCare Жыл бұрын
Interesting routine. Thanks for sharing. I try to avoid UV exposure as much as possible because I have very fair skin that burns super easily. Since infrared light is the complete other end of the spectrum and there’s no evidence that red light can be harmful, I feel pretty great basking in A LOT of it whenever I can. My skin loves it.
@brienq
@brienq Жыл бұрын
@@TheScienceofSelfCare I've decided to abandon this routine. Even though they say 3 to 4 minutes is not enough time to burn or damage the skin, I did have some damage since I posted that message. I developed a raised small pimple like growth on my leg that is itchy and looks like some of the sun keratomas I got from years earlier due to over-exposure. So there might have been some DNA damage - no more sun for me! Even after 4 pm when the UV-B is gone, I read there is enough UVA that is known for damaging DNA even though it doesn't cause burning or redness. I'm willing to try the red light therapy alone and take the natural vitamin D from cod liver oil. There are a large group of people who believe your supposed to only get vit D from the sun or at least natural sources like cod liver oil, not the synthetic capsules. However, I do not think they are taking into account that there are some people that are sensitive or notice cell damage (permanent changes are evidence of DNA damage which accelerates aging and has skin cancer risk).

5:33 Your left side of the face is naturally smoother than the right... For me, my right side is naturally smoother than left... We all do have such subtle/vivid discrepancies either naturally or simply because one side has more problems/acne.. usually the side we sleep on which leads to fluid retention, less Lymphatic drain and even spread of bacteria on that side. I have given red light masks a good trial and the difference (if any) is not enough to give it any credit like I would to say derma needling. Also, with lights we need to be very cautious because the margin of error is high due to the uncontrolled/undetected nature of home devices. Not the correct wavelength and it may cause hyperpigmentation or be completely useless.

I don't see how red light could cause fat loss, even though I'm watching Claire's channel... The LED masks do not generate heat in the skin, which would cause the fat cells to atrophy, so maybe a defective device which was worn everyday for many hours could potentially cause some issues, but if you have a good mask and use it like it's supposed to be used, I don't see how you could have this issue.

A couple questions: 1) the instructions state to use on clean skin or with certain serums. Do you think using it first thing (assuming with lotion overnight) has slowed the effects? 2) my main concern has been potential negative effects on the eyes, as I use it while doing things around the house. I have some mild retinal issues/aging eyes and wondering if you’ve seen anything in the literature re: this, when used 10 min a day. Thank you!!!!!!!

Red light definitely has an effect on the retina and most masks have a circular protective barrier in the eye whole area… However, there are certain applications for red light to be healing for retina disorders… There are specific ways in which to use it properly, and most of the clinical trials were for people with macular degeneration. I can’t link anything because I don’t have any specific articles, and it’s relatively new, but Google macular degeneration and red light therapy. :-)

That’s such a good one! I’ll try to get my hands on one. I am also curious to try infrared sauna at-home lamps as well. The blankets sort of turn me off because I imagine I would be have to clean it excessively after every use. Thanks for sharing! 🤍

Question: what are the differences in benefits between using the red light panel and the red light mask? Thank you for this great video!

This is so useful since I decided to invest in such a mask. I feel that my face desperately needs it and I keep hearing only the positive feedback. My choice is faq mask by Foreo, I am in love with the design. I do not think you guys have it in usa yet…

Happy to hear you’ve also noticed mood improvements! Research shows it boosts serotonin production and reduced cortisol (stress hormone). Seriously so in love with it! ❤️❤️

So you don't first clean and hydrate your skin? Just straight after waking up? Love your channel by the way!

Thanks for your question! I usually splash a little water on my face to remove any excess skincare from the night before (but I don’t cleanse my skin with a cleanser or anything). After I do my red light session, I will apply my skincare which rehydrates and nourishes my skin. Random side note: I absolutely love essences (Korean ones) as a great way to hydrate my skin afterwards, so I’ll put that on as my first skincare step. :)

I’ve been obsessed with mine too for a long time. The only thing I’m worried about is facial fat loss… I’ve definitely had some facial fat loss in recent years but I do a lot of treatments too so I’m not sure what caused it. However I’ve used my red light mask religiously so I have to consider that maybe it contributed.

I use a red light “helmet” for my mild hair loss (from an illness).. it’s worked so well. I’ve been using it regularly for a few months. I have so many baby hairs growing now. I do a 20 min guided meditation while I have it on, it’s so relaxing. I used to go to a salon for red light sessions for my face to heal some dermatitis, this was also great but gets expensive (aud $80 per session) and the light can be a bit intense even with the eye covers. 💃🏼❤️

@@safa1012 the brand I bought is “TLA” from Therapy Lights Australia. Which is about AUD $700. I was using it every day for 20 mins for the first few weeks, now 3 times per week for 20 mins. Good luck 🤞🏼
