PSA: YOU CANNOT SAVE BEFORE CATCHING SHINIES IN THIS GAME, IT DOESN'T WORK LIKE SCARLET AND VIOLET Also... Before you comment "You chained Pokemon up to a 31 catch combo, you increased your shiny odds," please visit 2:41 in the video, which explains why this is not the case. Even while using a 31 catch combo, I was still hunting at the 1/4096 base odds. There is also a tweet in the description explaining this further. I did NOT continue chaining past 31 in any of these hunts, so I was not taking advantage of the boosted shiny odds. PLEASE make sure to review these before commenting. Anyway... The fact that they likely messed up the coding for the catch combo is hilarious to me. It helped me immensely during my LGP DTQ. Because I thought that I needed to stay at 10, Eevee was only going to be a 20% spawn I think? But NoraInTheFuture let me know that I could safely do the 31 catch combo for the 50% spawn rate. Loved it.

@@Spec_Draws Hi! All pokemon have stats, which are basically six factors that determine how a Pokemon performs in a battle. These stats differ per pokemon, if a pokemon has for example a higher special attack than physical attack stat, it means that when the pokemon uses a special attack it will do more damage than if that same pokemon uses a physical attack. Now natures are these kind of ‘special effects’ which can increase, decrease or do nothing to a stat on top of their base stat. For example: a jolly nature increases the speed stat, but decreases the special attack. A bulbasaur, or later a venusaur, is a special attacker and learns more special attacks than physical attacks. If you look at the base stats, youll see that a venusaur has a base special attack of 100, but a base physical attack of only 82. So if you want to use it competitively, you want to increase the special attack and decrease the physical attack (since youre not really going to use physical attacks, so that stat doesnt matter). The nature adamant increases the physical attack, but decreases the special attack. Which you dont really want for a venusaur. I hope this explanation isnt too long or vague😭

Easiest way to shiny hunt early game is to catch pokemon over and over in a catch combo. When you run out of pokeballs, you can sell the tons of candies you get from catching to buy more. It works pretty well early game because the pokemon can be caught easily and pokeballs are cheap. I'm doing a shiny only run of this game and my first target was Nidoran. It took over 600 Nidoran before I got it, but I was easily able to fund the pokeball use with the health candies.
