This might be Alpharad’s magnum opus. I don’t care very much about shiny hunts, or nuzlockes, hell, I’ve never even finished a Pokémon game but even I felt something watching this. The grueling grind, the long journey, and the way it all only starts feeling emotional once it’s coming to an end. The way you look back at it all and realize how far you’ve come. This truly was a grand journey, and I look forward to future adventures. Both with my life, and with this channel.

I left my job last July bc I’m pretty sick. I’m getting surgery in October hopefully things improve. I found your videos after watching some of Jaiden’s blindfolded Mario videos. I love Jaiden she helped me start my journey back to loving Pokémon again. But when I found your content I felt like I started my journey to becoming an actual Pokémon “master”. I know it’s corny but my brothers were actually very impressed by my conviction to getting head first into a game (1)I have never finished and (2)haven’t played in over 15 years. I found out I have ADHD last month, so I feel like that explains why I struggled so hard to keep playing Pokémon silver as a kid. Anyway I genuinely appreciate everything you and Jaiden do together and as individuals. Very glad you guys are safe. There aren’t enough people who share the positivity you put out on this channel. I appreciate the time you put into this genuinely funny wholesome and very awe inspiring content. I hope you continue to have fun bc some of us can’t and it’s cool when cool ppl share their experiences. Sorry this is long but I just want to extend a sincere thank you. Everyone here makes me laugh, chat is a riot😂 and I hope everyone who reads this stays safe and does what makes them happy 💜

The fact that this silly little shinyhunt Nuzlocke video turned into an emotional commentary about growing older and finding value in the seemingly boring and mundane parts of your life really speaks to Alpharad's skill as a writer and a video artist. I've been a fan of your content, on and off, for five years now, which is crazy for me to realize. Ever since that silly little CPU tournament series you did with Jo. A lot has changed since then. Two years ago, I graduated. And you're right on the money when describing that bittersweet sensation of stepping onto the stage and realizing, this is it. This is the last time you'll ever be a highschooler, a kid. The rest of your life is ahead of you, for better or worse. And no matter how dismal or bland that school was (especially during COVID), you'll look back on that time of your life with a certain fondness. Smile because it happened indeed. The best years of your life are ahead of you, just as they are for me. Thank you for the ten years of content, Jacob Alpharad. Here's to many more, and to a peaceful retirement someday hopefully not too soon.

So fun thing about how the catch combo shiny hunt works in this game. I've only ever seen this mentioned in Johnstone's shiny Professor Oak challenge video, but data miners found out that the increased shiny odds from high catch combos are only applied to the next individual pokemon that spawns after the combo increase. All other spawns after that are all normal odds. Because of course that's how GameFreak did it.
