Fantastic video, the fact this video doesn’t have many views or likes is beyond my comprehension. Thank you for putting in the work for this video and making it clear and thorough. Happy Holidays!

I really liked macro factor except for one thing: no meal prep function. I have to plan ahead for lunches and I don't want to spend a lot of time doing that, so I need a way to plan meals and then create grocery lists. Macrofactor is great for adding stuff after the fact, and I do need that function, but the meal planning is a big deal for me.

Just a heads up, there is a "Log to Future Days" function to the app. help.macrofactorapp.com/en/articles/51-log-food-to-future-days You can log meals to future days in MacroFactor to map out your week and build a grocery list around what you plan to eat and use that as the foundation for your shoppin trip. The recipes can also function for meal prep assistance. You can batch-cook meals like a chicken and veggie stir-fry, input all the ingredients as a recipe, and fast log it that way when you're ready to eat. help.macrofactorapp.com/en/articles/6-create-and-add-a-custom-recipe So, there are a few ways you can use the app for meal prep (those are just a few). Hope that gives you some ideas.

Paid for RP Diet and canceled an hour later. Way too limited for the cost and its usability didn’t seem sustainable.

Yes, my thoughts exactly.

I never tried RP diet. Macrofactor is awesome. I've been using it for a short time but its a clear improvement over free apps I tried and over Hava. Dynamic calorie adjustment and average weight to rule out water fluctuation is spot on what we need for correct adjustments. I think it has one issue. My BMR is correctly calculated as long as I keep about the same activity level but if I get hurt and rest for a week I need to stop using the app or it will mess up my BMR calculation. It should have some optional BMR adjustment for large activity fluctuation. Hava has a great concept for weight loss- Satiety per calorie. That is a huge improvement over the just eat less approach and the AI image reconition is nice but as a calorie tracker misses important tools and offers no help for bulking.

That's a common concern and has been made even less of an issue with the new V3 expenditure. macrofactorapp.com/mm-october-2024/ With that said, you might enjoy this post - help.macrofactorapp.com/en/articles/210-what-should-i-do-if-my-activity-levels-change-drastically Here's a quote: "For instance, if you have a very active job, and you either can’t work for a period of time due to injury, or you transition to a sedentary job, your total energy expenditure could very well change by >500 Calories per day. The same applies to endurance athletes - if you're a competitive runner whose mileage decreases from 100 miles per week to 30 miles per week (or you have to take some time completely away from training), your total energy expenditure will drastically change. So, just “riding it out” for 3-4 weeks very well could throw you significantly off course, or lead to significant under-fueling (if your exercise volumes or activity levels rapidly increase) In that scenario, we’d recommend trying to pre-empt MacroFactors algorithms. If you know your energy expenditure is going to drastically increase, you could simply eat significantly more than MacroFactor recommends for 3-4 weeks. Conversely, if you know your energy expenditure is going to drastically decrease, you could simply eat significantly less than MacroFactor recommends for 3-4 weeks..."

How does Macro Factor compare to my fitness pal?

I did a head to head review video of both those apps. Here it is: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWOYZKR6jMiUg6M

Good assessment of both apps here. I’ve tried RP Diet , it’s too rigid, the restaurant feature is really only useful if you live in the US, encourages near constant weigh ins, and makes an assumption that you can adhere to some nuts meal schedule. It harasses you with notifications about “time to eat”. I’m sure it’s effective if you’re a professional body builder prepping for a show. But for us regular mortals it’s too much.

That's EXACTLy my take, too.

Does the RP app have popular restaurants on it to easily log food
@feast_good2 ай бұрын
For popular chain restaurants, yes. But if it's not a popular chain, you'll need to enter food manually. If you go to the same spot frequently, and you get the same thing, you can create a "custom meal" the first time you log it and then every subsequent time it will be easier to track.

Have you considered doing a video about FoodNums?
@feast_good2 ай бұрын
Never heard about it. What's the deal?
@U1TR4F0RCE2 ай бұрын
@ foodnums is focused on the apple side of the market but the most notable feature at least from my testing so far is that the AI photo recognition is pretty good and can be combined with a text prompt for what you know about the meal to not just give estimate of the dish but also the portion size.
