The entire line of Naturehike Massif and Dune tents are awesome hot tents for the money and have already built quite a following in the few months they have been on the market! They have pretty much became the new go to free standing tent for hot tent camping. So you definitely made a good choice! You do need to get a spark arrestor for the top of your stove pipe though, or you will end up with a bunch of melted pin holes in the top of your tent! They are a must when using synthetic hot tents!

Well its Hot Tent weather for the next week or so, hope you get out in it. I am converting a tent into hot tent capability since I only go hammock camping now. I was wondering about putting a bit of those metal pan scrubbers in the top of the chimney as a spark arrester, because people say small sparks land on the nylon tent and burn a small hole in it, which then lets in rain. I dont think it would block the smoke at all, not the entire scrubber but a thinned out bit, with a couple of holes drilled in the top of the chimney so that a bit of metal wire can go through to secure the spark stopper.

@@allieandmaria I discussed it with my son who is a firefighter. He said that he has experienced a hot tent when we was camping with cadets or his DofE gold. His advice was not to do it. Basically you have a fire inside a tent. He said his experience was trying to get the smell out of his kit the next day. More alarming is the cancer risk from all the VOCs that you can't see. I've noticed that wood smoke rises because it's hot, but some of it sinks as it cools and there will be compounds you can't see or smell. For me it is a lovely cosy idea but I won't be doing it, especially as my respiratory system can't even cope with a distant campfire these days. This is partly why I bought a Helinox cot. I figured that my nose being a foot off the ground I won't be inhaling pollutants from other people's campfires that linger or waft around at ground level.

1. Yes the glowing red pipe is normal, but it's not so normal to keep the damper open that wide for any length of time. 2. If you intend to burn real wood in that stove, you should install a spark arrestor on the top of the chimney. A couple of sparks on that tent and you're homeless - or dead. 3. Frankly, a small wood stove in that tent is a PITA. When the temperature gets cold I prefer to use a small butane heater like the Kovea Cupid butane heater. It would work well in that tent paired with your CO monitor and ventilation. 4. I had the two-person version of that tent, but IMO it's not a good tent in the summer at all - far too hot. I don't do enough winter camping to justify the cost. 5. Does your sponsor ship to the US?

You can also weigh the beans, and the tomato sauce, for a full value assessment. On topic. I'm not doing hot tent camping until Lidl have one in their middle aisle. I'm betting their stove pipe won't, like yours, be made from bacofoil.
