Yes, I agree with everything in this video. I’ve used the ceraVe oil cleanser which is fantastic for removing my sunscreen which I religiously use, thanks to you, on my 70 year old face. Love it! And double cleanse with ceraVe cream gentle cleanser. I don’t like make up remover as the foaming oil cleanser really does a great job. Don’t like the make up remover wipes at all. Thank you for your content, it’s really helped me care for my skin.

Thanks to you and Angie Hot and Flashy, I (55yo) now wear sunscreen every day, eat better, and use much healthier products. This cleanser is one of those - I love it! My skin doesn't feel dried out after I wash it anymore. I use it to wash my hands too. It's so much better than regular hand soap. If you ever wondered if your channel made a significant difference in someone's life, I'm here to tell you, oh HELL yeah! Have a wonderful week!😊

Hello from Greece! I have been following you for years, doctor, and I appreciate the help you offer us. It is invaluable! I am 64 years old with skin that is now threatened by dryness and sensitivity, before I had normal skin with no problems. I use a moisturizing cleansing milk as the first step for my evening face cleansing and then I use Cetaphil gentle cleanser as a second cleanser. In the summer I usually use a gentle cleansing gel as a second cleanser. My face is now clean and remains hydrated. The methods work and I am happy. The truth is that I prefer sunscreens that are not waterproof, except in the summer when I make sure they have the indication "water-resistant", as well as in general I avoid using cosmetics that are advertised for long-term use or as waterproof. And, to tell you the truth, I do not use makeup, with exceptions.

I've personally tried the cerave hydrating oil foaming cleanser in a travel/small gift size package and it was a pleasant experience plus i did try the double wash method with this particular one (first the cerave oil and next the water based cleanser). In the end the double cleanse was nice and worked efficiently by removing the water resistant sunscreen from face and body 😊❤.

I swear by the elf balm cleanser. Then I use the LaRoche Posay toleraine cream cleanser. I now use a gentle cloth to remove the balm after i emulsify it well. Until I used the cloth some make up or sunscreen would show on my white microfiber towel which I use to gently pat off some of the water. I don’t dry my skin so much but I don’t like putting my products on too wet skin. I worried forever that the cloth was aging my skin. But feeling there was still product residue on my face bothered me more. When my face feels sensitive I don’t pat dry and just use the cicaplast baume cream. So soothing.

I use Cerave healing ointment when I travel as oil cleanser, lip balm, nighttime hand cream, flyaway hair tamer, etc. That or Vaseline or Aquaphor - whichever is easiest to find in TSA approved sizes. Seriously, a small tube of ointment and a dove beauty bar can cover so many products.

Clinique Take the Day Off balm is my first step. Then I was using Kojic Acid Soap, but about a month ago switched to Zote. My skin has never looked better. Zote has a short list of ingredients and does not make me itch, unlike moisturizing "normal" soaps. I doubt any doctor would ever recommend Zote, but it works so well on my skin. I don't have itchy legs anymore. This is major since my legs have itched every night for the past 15 years. My skin looks glassy and is not dry or greasy. Anyway, the CeraVe Oil cleanser sounds wonderful, but Zote is magical for me. I don't wear a lot of makeup but I do have loads of sunscreen on, so that has to come off. And lipstick, which needs to come off, too.

I double cleanse in the morning with an oil. I massage my face and concentrate on the areas where I tend to get drier patches, around the mouth, areas where I tend to get sebaceous filaments or if I have ingrown hairs. It seems to help smooth and depuff my skin and face. I follow up with a gentle foaming cleanser. I use a mascara remover sometimes in the evening. Some mascaras are tough to remove. If it doesn’t come off with the cleansing oil and a gentle massage, I use a bi-phase eye makeup remover and “soak” my eyes. I then use a gentle foaming cleanser.
@WiseFamin15 сағат бұрын
Thanks for this! I use makeup wipes as my first step when I'm wearing lots of eye makeup, because it's easier to fold the wipe around my lashes and swipe off. I follow it with a foaming cleanser. If I'm not wearing mascara, I might just use a micellar water as my first step (followed by foaming cleanser). These approaches both work for me. I used to use the Hada Labo oil cleanser for my first step, and I agree it's more pleasurable to apply, but it's a mess to wash off in the sink (much easier if you're in the shower!). So, the micellar water works best for me, since it's a bit less messy. Thanks for going into all the nitty gritty! Good to know that using the same cleanser twice has some effect, which can be helpful during travel or when you've run out!

@@GS-cf7pw It depends on what I'm doing during the day and wearing. If I wear sunscreen and makeup I usually combine it with a micellar water or a remover for waterproof mascara (bi-phase removers, oil cleanser or regular mineral oil). I wash my face with the Cerave cleanser before moisturizing. I really recommend a separate cleanser if you use waterproof makeup and sunscreen. In general I don't like wearing stuff like foundation and I like reapplying creams during the day. The UV-index is close to 0 these days, so I don't use as much sunscreen. I always take my eye makeup off with eye makeup remover first. Up and Up from Target is the best. I also use the Fragrance Free Up and Up makeup remover wipes, THESE ARE PHENOMENAL! I have to use an oil based cleaner for the rest of my makeup. I then use the Cerve cleanser in the shower. If I don’t use an oil based cleanser to remove my makeup first my sunscreen will literally not come off!

What I do for mascara is, I splash my face several times with warm water and let the mascara loosen up while I brush my teeth, then I massage (gently!!!) my lashes to remove it. Any residue on my lids comes off completely as I wash my face with a regular cleanser. But I have to say, my sunscreen is not waterproof, and I don't use foundation or concealer. This method works with all the mascaras I use (including the Lash Sensational many people have problem with!). If a mascara doesn't comes off this way, I don't use it lol.

The CeraVe Oil to Foam Cleanser is no joke! I have VERY sensitive skin, and let me tell you, this cleanser allows me to use retinol much easier by reducing my flaking and peeling like a dream! Even after micro-needling it is a god-sent and it takes off my sweat-proof, water-proof MINERAL sunscreen everyday! It has really opened up my options and allowed me to incorporate some actives in my routine which led to better skin overall. If you have sensitive skin and nothing seems to be working try changing your cleanser to this one or similar it may transform the way your skin is prepped for your other products to work with less irritation, it is a great foundation on the road to keeping your skin barrier in tact, hope it works out for you too!

I can’t use the CeraVe oil to foam cleanser, but I can and do use the La Roche-Posay (LRP) version of it. A single cleanse with it (applying dry, emulsifying, removing gently with a washcloth, then rinsing) removes light makeup and a single application of water resistant sunscreen for me. I need more with moderate makeup or water resistant sunscreen. That takes a second wash with the cleanser (applied on wet skin). Multiple applications of water resistant sunscreen or heavy makeup requires an oil or balm for my dry skin, which likes to hold onto makeup, followed by a cleanser. If mascara, eyeliner, or lipstick refuse to budge, I remove them with a little micellar water. I also use the Cetaphil cleanser for normal to dry skin. My skin doesn’t get clean at night using it for a single cleanse when I have on makeup. Without makeup, it works fine, as you’d expect. I use the cleanser for morning or when I can’t get out of bed. Being able to use it without a sink is a boon for me.

I am an adamant "just use the same cleanser twice" girl! I tried all sorts of cleansing oils recommended from every skincare influencer under the sun during the pandemic, and I would always just feel greasy and break out after double cleansing with a cleansing oil/balm. Finally, I gave up having a tik tok perfect skincare routine and my skin likes it much better. I just use the Vanicream gentle cleanser twice, and that has been a game changer for me!!!! I found the trick was striking the balance between a really gentle cleanser and a harsher cleanser i.e. the cetaphil cleansers are too gentle to double cleanse with, but a salicylic acid cleanser is probably going to be too harsh.

I do this with cleansing balm and then liquid oil cleanser all the time. the best side effect of this method is that i don't get the same kind of leftover residue under/behind my ears. these rinse off smoothly. for some reason, any kind of creamy / milk cleanser + my town's hard water = an intractable residue that i can rub off after shower when i'm dry but will not rinse / scrub off in the shower. so annoying so i love double cleanse oil method. PLUS i had mold toxicity from my former home, causing rosacea and hashimoto's and flaring my MCAS (mast cell activation disease), among other things. so i have developed a sensitivity to water. oil cleansers are so great because they provide a barrier protection against water on my delicate facial and neck skin. so i'm not red anymore (unless i eat something allergic!) - i now use this cerave cleanser (or bioderma or LRP) for my body cleanser too. no chance for sticky buildup with my hard water. another great one that i can always use is cerave SA foaming soap. keeps pimples away, rinses cleanly, but keeps your skin super soft!!

I make my own oil cleanser after discovering that cheap ol’ mineral oil seems to be the key ingredient & I think it really boosts emulsification. As a kid I did a lot of experimenting in the tub with baby oil + various soaps until my mom figured out that’s where the ring of gunk was coming from lol. But she wouldn’t get me fun body washes etc so I tried to make my own! Mineral oil is a great emulsifier but the prices of oil cleansing balms do not match the ingredients or level of difficulty. We do realize we’re price gouging ourselves right? I use different foaming & creamy 2nd cleansers, I like mixing fancy minis with basic unscented cleansers, but in a pinch the fulvic acid inkey list cleansers does a great job gently removing everything on your face…

Every night, I remove my eye make-up with those good old-fashioned oily pads. I've been using them since the 60s. A few years ago, I tried a couple of brands of "oil free" eye make-up remover but I found them highly irritating. Same with the big wipes. And there was a brief ineffective segue to Pond's. So back to the oily pads. I then bend over the tub near the faucet -- I have been doing this all my make-up life -- and apply Cetaphil to a dry face, rub it in, let it sit for a minute and then rinse, rinse, rinse. That's why I'm bent over the tub because I rinse my face with a minimum of 20 double handfuls of water, 30 is even better. Does it remove all the oily residue? No. But i put on my Retin-A .05% on top anyway!

Hello Doc! I'm your subscriber and fan from India, the kind of information you provide saves a lot of money too and I'm extremely grateful to you for that..I've acne prone skin and i usually have 2-3 active acne on my face which takes months to fade I'm using benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid as spot treatment in night and day respectively..and tretinoin on rest 3 nights with ceramide moisturizer..do i need to include tranexamic acid in my skin care..I've also used azelaic acid 10 percent for 6 months but that doesn't show much effect on me for hyperpigmentation..also i dont use makeup or water resistant sunscreen..but i live in delhi which is quite polluted do i still need to double cleanse?..please reply🥺

With the pollution I would double cleanser. From a devoted follower of doctor Dray since the beginning.

I feel like my skin hates double cleansing. It seems to be too drying. I have very dry, sensitive, eczema, and acne prone skin. It doesn’t matter if I use a cream cleanser, oil cleanser, or balm. I’ve been enjoying the Curology Gentle Cleanser though!👌🏼

We need more people like this telling us truth! Just finished reading 'The Skin Radiance Recipe' by Mrs. D. Its fascinating what they hide from society.

I use my cleanser twice also, I use Cetaphil Foaming Cream Cleanser once with hands and then again with my Spa Sciences Nova sonic cleansing brush. I keep it very sanitary and I love it my skin is clearer with it. My skin never liked cleansing oils or balms, always get congested.

I wash twice with the same gel cleanser every night. Never had an issue doing so. But I’m only removing sunscreen and not a face of makeup

The cleanser does say use on damp skin and I find it removes spf in a single cleanse on damp skin . 😊

Any recommendations on skin care routine for people with beards who also have dry skin? I’m a big fan of CeraVe products.

Ponds used to make a wonderful cleansing balm. I loved it, but of course, they stopped making it!😩

What is the name of your favorite? I'm looking for a neutral or low ph face wash.

That cleanser is great. I use ti also to wash my makeup sponges. The only thing is that I hate the smell 😂

I use the Cerave oil to foam cleanser as my first wash, then I use the Neutragena Ultra Gentle foaming cleaner as my second cleanser. Gets all my makeup and sunscreen off.

The best way to get off eye makeup is with Neutrogena's Oil Free eye makeup remover. It's in a 5.5 Oz light blue plastic bottle. I shake it up and then soak a Q-Tip in the solution and run it along my eyelashes. If you're wearing a lot of eye makeup, use a cotton round instead. This removes even waterproof mascara. Then rinse it off and continue with your regular cleanser.

The Lancome bi-facil one is popular as well for removing eye makeup.

I wish it worked like that for me… nothing but burning and red soon around my eye area. I can’t figure out what ingredient is the culprit. Neutragena and Oil of Olay hate my skin 😢

I love Cetaphil gentle cleanser and have used it for years 8:28 . I am currently using the CeraVe oil cleanser first cleanse but it is clogging my sink drain and I didn’t have this problem before using it so I’m going to have to start using something different.

I have tried it when I wear makeup. I have tried the Cerave and the Clinique wash the day away. I think Clinique does a better job. The Cerave seems drying.

Dr Dray, have you reviewed la Roche-Posay Lipikar AP + Gentle Foaming Cleansing oil? I’m currently using Cerve Oil to foam Cleanser when i use sunscreen. Just wondering if its better than Cerve

My dermatologist told me not to use anything with oil on my face. I'm afraid to try an oil cleanser for that reason. I have dry, sensitive skin and break out from anything thick or rich. What do you recommend in my case?

I usually wash my face twice if I feel I need it. I don't use a washcloth, just my hands. I don't think I'd wash twice with a wash cloth tho! I also don't wear much makeup so I have yet to use an oil cleanser. I should get one if I ever do wear a lot of makeup.

For some reason the cerave oil to foam cleanser leaves my skin really dry and tight! But it seems everyone else loves it. My skin isn’t usually super dry or anything either and I rinse it off well so maybe it just doesn’t suit me for some reason.

Vaseline takes off waterproof mascara the best of anything I’ve tried. I take it off before washing my face.
