I edc a carpenter pencil, I do backcountry trail maintenance/construction and a stout pencil is harder to break, plus I use it for actual carpentry. I'd love to have a $100 tactile turn but even if I get one one day, there's not a snowballs chance in hell I'd bring that to work with me

Thanks for the idea of carrying the carpenter’s pencil. I’m heading to a country that does not allow ANY knives to be carried in a few weeks for work. I might bring one. Seems harmless but could come in handy

Doing this nowadays at harbor freight would get you some quality items. Like the new Icon knife($40) or the buck 115 clone($25), the icon mini locking flex head ratchet kit($40), plenty of small/pen flashlights to look thru($7-$25 or so) , the new harbor freight brand markers($2 for 2) and the icon 3 position pliers($20).

I saw one of those little 1/4" bit ratchets at HF and bought one for my backpack tool kit. I ended up wrapping it in micro paracord because it is a little uncomfortable to use. But honestly, a wicked handy tool to have for small jobs.

The one thing that I found annoying about harbor freight is the knife prices. the same exact tactical knife walmart sells for a buck or two, HF charges like 8 for it. The only difference is the packaging. My pro tips: always buy the general propose scissors and long zip ties. 100 pack of 11 in ties is about 3. A few years ago when I got dragged to OSH, the same ties were 20. Almost every time I visit, I load up on a handful of each

10:10 Not bad? Bro that thing passed the paper test with flying colors and 8cr13mov is an actual decent steel for that price range. Can't speak for the heat treat but the fact that it came sharp out the box, has decent action, was only $9 and came from harbor freight is honestly impressive. I see that as an absolute win though I wouldn't carry it at this point but for someone just getting started it seems pretty solid

The Gordon tactical folding knife is excellent. I have about 5 of them to stash in my cars and have used one as my EDC for about 5 years. I can use and abuse the crap out of 'em and not have to worry about ruining it. Sharpens up well

I really like that mini utility knife. I bought 3 of them. It has came in handy many times. Opening boxes, cutting zip ties and twine. Hardly notice it in my pocket.

strange that they made the folding box cutter with smaller blades instead of just using industry standard. almost like they had Apple design it for them lol. carpenter pencil is great for EDC though i cut one in half and it is in a pocket pouch outer pocket, as i use my EDC pen far more often which is a dr grip i had since 2004. the flat style of the carp pencil makes it easy to store in pouches and stuff.

I've had a mini razor for a while and use it for some leather work. It really is an ok unit for the money. I'm surprised that knife is 8cr for $9. Gerber is mostly 7cr and some that I own I'm not sure are worth 9 much less what I paid for them. Like to see the rest of your HF choices.

See, my EDC knife is usually a Kershaw Culpepper. Costs about double what this does but I feel infinitely more confident in it. I also have a little Victorinox Recruit on my house key ring. Handiest little knife I ever bought

The Quantum lights are really good. I own a few and have never had a issue with any of them they are my my daily carry , as a backup for my surefire G2 . The key knife you showed is really sharp for 3$ scary sharp. My fingers knows all too well . Love the cheaper EDC Carry stuff. Not everyone can afford a 100$ knife or flashlight.

*might suggest the cordage maker from grim workshop...relatively inexpensive and portable (one is tiny) it makes reliable cordage out of plastic bottles (essentially discarded trash)...very handy to have...as is their axe card that fits in your wallet*

Defo need to see the rest of the haul. I do have a soft spot for cheap EDC. There's a saying "It's better have something and not need it, than need it and not have it." and this is where cheap EDC pays off, it gets folks started. It's better to have that $9 knife in your pocket, than $20 in your wallet, when you need a knife.

post it all dude, post it all.. the gordon knife is a cheapy, its not my edc pocket choice but it is in my edc bag and in both vehicles because it does work, Ive even whittled with it, but because its inexpensive I can be brutal with it, open paint cans or cut wires if I snap the blade its a quick stop at HF... the mini razor is another I have several of, one is in the pocket on my wallet, one is in the bag with my carving knives because its AMAZING and theres nothing like having fresh blades in a minute
