My beloved late husband used to disappear after we put our order in, for quite awhile, longer than for a typical restroom break. Turns out that he was making a trip to Joe's, which was a near neighbor. He was passionate about their delicious, reasonable pizza, and really didn't care for seafood all that much. Danny, you have to TIP the taxi van drivers and the waiters and waitresses in America. The tip in restaurants is 15% to 20% and since you are making them bring the food out to you, you really need to tip them. They depend on tips for a living. You also need to tip workers who help with your luggage. I hope you will tip them once you are satisfied with the service they give you.
@susiejakes30192 жыл бұрын
The tip is 15% to 20% of the total of your bill, minus the tax. All service workers receive tips as long as their service is satisfactory and there is no service charge added to your bill by the restaurant. Restaurant workers do not receive the full minimum wage because they earn tips. The US Congress passed this 'Tipping Credit' in the 1960s.

@dandeveny45132 жыл бұрын
@@susiejakes3019 In most (if not all?) states the employer must make up the shortfall of "untipped" minimum wage if they do not get enough tips. "A tipped employee engages in an occupation in which he or she customarily and regularly receives more than $30 per month in tips. An employer of a tipped employee is only required to pay $2.13 per hour in direct wages if that amount combined with the tips received at least equals the federal minimum wage. If the employee's tips combined with the employer's direct wages of at least $2.13 per hour do not equal the federal minimum hourly wage, the employer must make up the difference. Many states, however, require higher direct wage amounts for tipped employees."

I'm so happy you and Camera Man are here in the States! LOVED the video. I'm in the Midwest but I know there is a way you're "supposed" to eat NY style pizza - you fold it long-ways. The slice is the same shape and the toppings are all in the middle while the crust becomes a bottom and top for your pizza sandwich. I hope you will visit some places for breakfast and order REAL hash browns (the shredded potato cake you guys have in England at breakfast is what the McDonald's here in the U.S. serve - not real hash browns). I'm guessing you guys will also go to Chicago, LA, and someplace in Texas before heading back home. I won't take it personally if you don't visit the fly-over part of the country where I live ;).
