Hi Dominique. New KZbinr and New Subscriber here. I'm also a writer and have been looking for other BIPOC writers here. I'm glad I found your channel. I really enjoyed this video, and I learned a lot about Saramago. I knew who he was, but I didn't really know what his books were about. Now I want to go read his work. I recently moved to Spain and go to Portugal a lot, and Saramago is everywhere. Thanks for the inspo. And good luck with your writing.

My favorite writing routine is to take a pic of something that may look like a particular scene I am writing about, look at the pics when I get home and freestyle off that image. I find it moves along the story and my procrastinating. 😊

Love that! I bet it keeps the writing alive too.

Pretty random comment....but that pasta dish you made looked very delicious! 😋 I was just thinking to myself, "Now if I could just stick my fork through this screen to take a bite." Haha! I'm glad you took some time for yourself to regroup. Checking in with yourself and not being afraid to take a break is always important. I hope all works out for your freelancing job. Be encouraged and stay strong! The Saramago writing routine you did sounds interesting. Like you said, the benefit of it is that it's not restrictive and only requires you to write 2 pages. I know a lot of people put a great emphasis on reaching word count goals each day (and that's good if it works for your routine). Me personally, I write however many words I can. I tell myself, "Okay, the goal is to get down at least 100 words." Some days, I get just that. Some days, I get more than that. And then there are those days where I manage to squeeze out just a few sentences. Maybe I didn't get out many words...but at least I wrote something of worth. I had a few Substack-related questions: (1) How did you create your banner for your website? (2) Do you only provide free content on your Substack or do you (or plan to) provide 'paid subscriber' content? If so, what type of content is reserved for paid subscribers? I ask this because I'm considering doing Substack myself. I would like to offer something for paid subscribers (if I go this route), but I'm not sure what I would offer. I don't really see myself doing a course like some people do. So I'm just trying to see what other writers do. (3) I know that Substack is a weekly newsletter, but is it okay if you write biweekly or even monthly? I don't want to write content just because. If you could please provide clarity, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance and thanks for taking time to read this lengthy comment. Haha! As a writer, I'm a chatterbox at the fingertips!

Thanks so much for watching and commenting. The pasta dish was indeed delicious and just what I needed. :) 1. I used Canva. 2. Yes, only free on Substack at the moment. I'm not sure about paid content yet, but the ones I pay for offer creative writing lessons and discussions. 3. For sure you can post to Substack at your own frequency! Thanks again for commenting and hope this helps!

Oh I forgot to ask one last question. What genre(s) do you write in? I think you mentioned literary fiction in a previous video? If I'm wrong...sorry!😬 I was just curious to know what type of fiction (i.e. romance, realistic fiction, mystery, fantasy, etc.). Thanks again! 😊

Literary fiction indeed. But hopefully I'll branch out into various genres in the future.
