Life lesson at 5:00 - Some things are only accomplished through intense struggle. Some things cannot be done without desire, discipline, and sacrifice. Thanks for sharing your story, your insight, and your wisdom. And, by the way, you are definitely not "normal". Extraordinary video, Austin!

I loved this video of yours ❤, and you are also becoming one of my favorite KZbinrs by the way. I speak English and Spanish, and we could interact with each other with almost no trouble. I could teach you some useful expressions in Spanish, but I just can't leave my home country for now, it's something quite personal and kinda scary to be outside of my homeland, so I cannot help you out there in person, but I'd love to. You will definitely be amazed at how I can speak English with a native-like accent one day. You can improve your language skills too, like I do. Keep your spirits up, keep learning Spanish, while I will absolutely move forward with my language learning journey, I love English, and it has become my strongest habit, it's shaping my lifestyle as well as how I view the ever-changing world around me. 😊

Top video Austin. I’ve always been fascinated by languages. I was learning French and took the self learning route but I think I’ll attend classes. Thank you for the inspiring video.

this is very motivating! im using duolingo which may not be as efficient in learning as what you did, but i found the association technique very useful and found out i’ve already kind of been doing it for a while. a lot of words in spanish sounds a lot like some words in my mother tongue (which makes sense cause we were colonized 😅) and it helps greatly in learning, but its true that i should probably have more associations than comparing a new word to what i already know. great vid! cant wait to be trilingual lol

Thanks for the tips in the video! Especially the one about comfort, it truly is the enemy of progress. I am currently trying to learn Spanish, in hopes of going on a missions trip to South/Central America in college! Also, GREAT video about the notebook. I've been using my little pocket notebook for weeks now and it truly has made me more grateful and cut down on my screen time. Blessings!

I'm a Japanese and studying in Australia for six weeks now. I have been jerois someone whose native language is English because if someone can speak English, it is not necessary to study another languages. But thanks to your video, I found out it was not true. I become more energetic for studying English. Thanks. Through my life in Australia, it become one of my hobby to study English. I think it is a big advance for me. I always watch your video to study. Thank you for giving me some motivation.

Thank you for this video! I'm learning Deutsch (German) now as my third language (after English), but sadly I can't surround myself with Deutsch as much as you did with Spanish, because I don't have time and money to travel to another country for a few months. I really liked some tips from this video, and I would implement it in my studying process, but if you (or anyone reading) have other tips for my situation specifically, I'll be happy to hear them.

Took me 7 years after migrated to US to be verbally fluent. I understood printed material, comprehended what ppl said, could write ok, and spoke simple response. My biggest problem was vocabulary. I may know 5000+ words but they weren’t enough to talk intelligently and in depth. I never was good at chitchatting. I prefer discussion. It requires knowing many subject matters and associated words. I still can’t chime in when ppl talk about any ball games because I don’t watch or pay attention. After building up vocabulary and immersing in subjects, one day I just started talking like a native. I never stop learning new subject since. Every time I found a new interest, be it running, swimming, watercolor, home remodeling, I picked up new words. I haven’t run out of new English words to learn yet after being in this country for over 40 years.

Maybe on that first lesson. Possible to provoke frustration and intentionally implement a click. If neurons can be forced into a memory pathway and make it repetitive and expected, on a higher executive level or a novel pathway. When your clicks happened, was there any food craving like salt or sugar and did click occur once satisfied or delayed?
