Who am I?
Hey, my name is Jack. I'm a 19 year old university student/social media influencer. I hate the title "influencer" too, but what else am I suppose to call it. In 2021 my girlfriend, Aneta Podolak, filmed a video of me in comparison to Draco Malfoy. Yup, that's how it started. The video instantly blew up because apparently we look similar, I think it is mostly the blonde hair. I spent the next year growing my audience by making a range of "lookalike", dance, and vlog style tiktok's and was able to amass a large following. It was at this point I wanted to try something now, and with my girlfriend speaking fluent Polish we thought it would be funny to make videos where she tried to teach me. It was a huge success, millions and millions of views and likes brought a whole new audience to are platforms. I'm currently working on tons of language based content while studying commerce at the University Of Toronto.

Keep up good job! Yes, the correct way to say "jabłko" is the way this guy did, however even Polish people do not bother to pronunce it well and say "japko". Well... the spelling is always "jabłko". The same is with "ę" at the end of the word. You can say "się" but most people will say "sie" No wonder you get sunburnt with such fair complexion. You can say "Od słońca jestem czerwony" (I'm red from the sun) Oh yeah... they try to kill their students with this sentence about bats hanging from the branches (zwisając z gałęzi😂) and eating watermelon😂 why didn't they just say "nietoperze jedzą arbuza" (bats eat a watermelon) Degree can also concern university. Degree - stopień naukowy. In Poland you can get your first degree after 3 years of studies: licencjat, or you can get a higher degree after 5 years snd this is: magister. But you can call it "stopień naukowy" Masz jakiś stopień naukowy? Yes, the word "samolot" derives from "samo" and "lot" Lot means a flight and Samo is like... alone, by itself "samolot" a thing that flies by itself😂 I see that you already memorize a lot of words. Good job👍

01:28 It is: when people speak casually and fast, because then they speak untidily and lazy, simplifying sounds. This is a common problem with these language courses, even the commercial ones: they always speak too perfectly and strain every word. No native speaker talks that way. Another example of that is in 01:03 where he says "w" as "wy". But in a sentence, this "w" never gets "y" after it, and it gets devoiced before a voiceless consonant like "p". So a native speaker would say it "bogate fpotas" (merging that "f" with the subsequent word). 02:22 And this… I don't even… -_- This sentence is absurd and totally useless. Who will ever need it visiting Poland? ;o Moreover, there's a punctuation error: it should be "Nietoperze, zwisając z gałęzi, jedzą arbuza", since "zwisając z gałęzi" is an interjected participal phrase/clause, and it is optional, so it should be bracketed with commas. I have no idea why did they put that there though, as they could equally well just say "Nietoperze jedzą arbuza" and it would fly as an example (equally absurd, but less intimidating to a noob). Participal dependent clauses are pretty advanced grammar, there's no place for them in Polish 101. 02:32 :D You've just say "I don't fart this" :D But yeah, another problem with language courses: they didn't explain that "rz" is a digraph in Polish, and it's just one sound, not two, pronounced as "zh" (like "je" in French), instead of "r" and "z" separately. Similarly, "sz" and "cz" are digraphs, pronounced as English "sh" and "ch" (Polish uses "z" for the same purpose as English uses "h" in these combinations).
@amjan
@amjan 6 ай бұрын
They don't say it "too perfectly", they just say it wrongly. If a "w" gets devoiced into an /f/, then that's how it is supposed to be pronounced.

Actually, the correct way to pronounce "jabłko" is japko
@tamashii6670
@tamashii6670 11 ай бұрын
No, it's not correct way, you should pronounce "bł", not "p", but unfortunately many people doing this mistake, even polish native speakers, what is quite sad... And many other mistakes in pronunciation like changing "ę" to "e" or "en" amd "ą" to "om", then you can change word's meaning...

@@LingwistycznyPunktWidzenia Raczej Ty powinieneś wrócić do nauki. :D Pozdrawiam. ;)

@@somebodynice4366 You can also say "japłko" if you really want to sound "proper", but this is not necessary. But definitely not "jabłko" or "jabułko". This feature of the Polish language where in certain clusters uoiced consonants become devoiced is omnipresent in most words, yet not generally taught in schools; we just follow it intuitively. The omission of "ł" in the word for apple is more specific, but accepted by dictionaries that list pronunciations as either equivalent, or at the very least casual.
