So I've got that same compressor, and there's a threading mismatch on the piece between the tank and the regulator part. Basically it's an issue between parallel threading and angled threading. If you pick up a male to male 1/4" BSPP to 1/8" NPT with an o ring over the 1/4" part (or some plumber's tape) it'll leak much less. I also recommend putting plumber's tape on both sides in general. (This solution is from the Amazon reviews, with pictures of what's mismatching and how to correct it) Great video, just wanted to let you know about this.

I mean, depends what kind of printing you're doing, there are many photo-resin printers now from brands like elegoo, anycubic, etc that are a few screws for build plate, slide tank in & screw down, and pour tank up, and I'll say the elegoo water washable resin is amazing for in-home use. Hardest parts are any supports, learning chitubox software, and remembering to find the settings to use for your choice of resin for printing with. Extruder style printers have some easier models coming out too, definitely always take the risk and plunge, I found as a perfectionist-minded ADHD person with anxiety issues about failure that can stop me in my tracks for months on projects that looking up some failure analysis lists/descriptions or videos so you have a frame of reference for when things fail makes things so much less stressful. Or read assembly and owners manuals online ahead of time. Or have pros or friends who know a bit (like in this vid) or at least can provide moral support hang during the first few attempts makes all the difference. Anyone can do it, just gotta take the plunge to get in the water

1st time I took my airbrush apart to clean it I was bricking myself, after a couple of times you can do it with your eyes closed. Amazing bits if kit but so simple. I prefer to use an old brush rather that cotton buds (Q-tips) to clean my needle, a lot more gentle and can get in there better.

I have that same compressor, and my gauge also wasn't tight at the correct point of rotation - when I checked the manufacturer's website, there was a link to a vid on assembly. They instruct you to rotate the nut on the tank - it's threaded opposite, but you can adjust the tank itself to fix where your gauge stops so it's correct. That said, if you already have it up and working, probably best not to fiddle with it. 😁

Lol I loved this, good job guys, one thing you forgot to get Dani to buy a squeeze bottle for the rinseout/cleaning part of airbrushing, but that's okay everyday is a learning day #yolo Make sure to clean the tip of your airbrush every couple of minutes, because just like the bristles of your paint brushes, your needle is going to have small thin layers of paint drying up every time you push air through the brush. I learned how to airbrush watching your videos Brent! :p The best way to learn was exactly like this, a lot of minis all at once and these are larger so itll be another learning experience when using an airbrush for smaller minis :D Excellent video! Oh, mang, I've been on the fence about getting an airbrush for quite some time now, and just seeing how quick you got good at priming alone, I'm going to have to get off the fence now. I don't like spray-can priming, but brush-on primers are hard to get even coverage with... And for a first pass, that fire elemental is pretty awesome. Add a round of black wash or inking and some dry-brush highlights (though you do need to be careful with both of those with FDM prints), and that thing'll be awesome on the table. Have you looked into techniques for washes and dry brushes on FDM prints? It's totally do-able, you just have to know whether to go with the grain or against, and use a bit higher-viscosity on the wash to keep it where you put it.

It's nice to be able to prime and then paint in 10 minute instead of waiting for the stinky fumes to outgas. Also, I use my airbrush for painting about 10% of the time. The rest of the time, it's just a super handy lil air compressor. I blow dust out of my computer, dry my 3d prints, airsweep my workspace... It's incredibly useful.
@AnHourOfWolves3 жыл бұрын
I always prime with a large brush and watery black primer. It's super fast, not too messy, requires no setup, and is quick to clean. Much cheaper than even a cheap airbrush, and also it saves me the set-up, tear-down, and clean-up time associated with the airbrush, not to mention maintenance time. Also, it's quiet, so I can do it at 10pm when the kids are fast asleep :) If you are interested in airbrushing, and it's a new skill you want to learn, then by all means! But for me, it wouldn't really help me do anything faster or easier, and it's not something I care to learn or spend more money and storage space on :)

Since you’re in Florida - one special Floridian resident tip: EMPTY YOUR TANK. After each use, make sure you pull (unscrew) the plug on the air tank to drain any moisture. There’s nothing quite as shocking, finding that your moisture trap is “bleeding rusty water” and your pressure gauge is failing from clogging up: that’ll be from your air tank rusting from the inside out, if you don’t open up that plug.
