Really I wanted to learn unity ,but the time I have is very little ,being jobless and age is very hurting and stress I go through is very high. I tried many tutorials ,and all I got in my recommendation was brackers , channels. It's very old video and that dude says things so difficult. I just came to know bing AI can create pictures so I played around . I have an idea on sprite but never understand it. Your 12:47 minutes of video is worth of gold. It's easy super easy. Simple. I know little bit of photos editing terminology. So i cleary now understand what sprite is and how actually make an game assets ,nobody every showed the Photoshop thing and also rigging part. Thankyou so much sir. You are wonderful

As a lot of people said, it's good for prototyping... An art director would be needed at least, to blend all these assets in a cohesive composition, adding depth, adjusting rim lights, thinking about storytelling thru the art elements and so on.

Until an art director AI exists (trained specifically for making games) or the technology gets more powerful and decides how to make things aesthetically pleasing for a great gaming experience based on other games. Kind of like how they are trying to implement AI into some of these game engines already… probably in less than a year or two you will be able to prompt full games , text to game. Like a professional level game…

6 years ago I was at a conference where people were saying "you'll be able to tell a plugin that you want a cat, in this style, animated to do these things, and have these parameters -- and then simply import it into your game scene". I thought it was crazy. Today is crazy. We are at a breaking point where lots of interactive development is going to be completely revolutionized. This is the industrial revolution of the digital age.

@@janci00019 Candlemakers when lightbulbs got invented felt the same way. Artists that see money as the only reason they draw shouldn't be artists, which is who see lashing out. Get that idealistic vision of "artist" out of your head. Same with journalists "always seeking the truth and adhering to their integrity", or politicians always having their voters in mind, or police always protecting us. They SAY that, doesn't mean its true or even common. I see artists on Twitter mock "sandwich-artists" and now they are getting the same philosophy of "what is REAL art?" thrown back at them. Get a real job, if art is your TRUE PASSION you will do it anyway, in your free time, for art's sake. If not, your passion might just be playing games, or watching movies, and nothing is wrong with that. I wash dishes, it's not my ~*~passion~*~ its my job. If I could get paid for something I was doing anyway, that would be a tempting scam.

As a platformerd dev in middle of development it really scares me. Soon the value of one game with art will go nearly to zero. Well.. i hope i have at least some time until 10000000000 neuro art platformers will be uploaded to steam. It does not happen today, but probably only because of some lag in development and that other devs are normally already in some project. But once the wave will start, who knows how high it will be. I really hope to release until it happens.

I think audiences are going to quickly associate these AI art styles with low quality, asset-flip style games. Because of the ease of use, there will be a high volume of games and art that look like this made by devs who are taking cheap shortcuts in other areas. Devs that put in the hard work of creating appealing art or actually paying an artist will still stand out. Look at the recent game PIZZA TOWER. That shit has a real discernable human touch and it slaps. This raw AI output is kinda an embarrassing look, but that's just my opinion. Maybe other people think this is cool.

For fellow artists, It looks great. But I have to say this with all the fuss going around about the AI art. It's more like a coloring book for a child rather than a visual piece which communicates on a much subtler and deeper level ( which we used to know as art ). The AI process keeps you entangled and entertained much like an infant who colors a pretty picture. There's nothing wrong with it. Someone can start from there and keep improving themselves to become a real artist. But for all the people who say that AI is the future of art, You should pay more attention to how an artist goes about creating a masterpiece. It's the work of a lifetime. One odd looking brush stroke could inspire a whole genre of art ( Van gogh ) Which is the beauty of humanize touch. AI is just a party trick, Real magic always happen by individuals who commits to their crafts.

I may have agreed with you before Dada and the modern/contemporary art trends. One of the most famous works of art of the past 150 years or so is a urinal that someone turned on its side, with nothing else done to it. There are also a fair few artists I know whose art consists of literally throwing paint at a canvas. Art serves the purpose of the artist. Sometimes that's making a social or political point. Sometimes it serves as an emotional outlet. Sometimes it's getting an idea out of your head and into the world. Sometimes it's just there to help flesh out your game environment. For game art, AI is fine for creating assets - at least the ones that aren't at the forefront of the game or are just going to be used as placeholders anyway.

@@BinaryLunar It's actually mentioned in copyright law. It's in Section 306: "The U.S. Copyright Office will register an original work of authorship, provided that the work was created by a human being." Now that's the fuzzy bit, did you create it or did the AI?. And then Did the AI create it, or did someone else with a copyright on that piece of work? This is where the courts will eventually need to decide overall about the state AI is currently in. I also believe the world will have to agree on copyright law(as what I referenced is clearly a U.S. Copyright law and I'm unsure of other countries laws)
@Goskaq

@@aratooki2593 You said it right there. "Studying". You didn't say it was stealing art from different artist and using their art in the generated art(the issue artist have about it.). To say studying and imitating a style is a human thing to do. You think all of anime look the same because it's done by 1 person? Or having a Disney style artwork is because only Disney draws that way? All the people copying Bob Ross paintings aren't human? Artist study other artist's style and imitate it if they want to. That's human. The fact the AI can "study" millions better doesn't mean anything. The issue with ai is that it is taking copyright work without permission and using those works in some capacity as "new" art. Not imitating. Now if someone who is apparently against ai art is saying studying and not blatantly copying /reusing copyrighted work, why should it be expected that someone who is for the AI art, or doesn't know much about it in the first place to say that it isn't studying these pieces of work that it is "copying" and imitating it? Besides that debating this online leads no where. Ai Creators are going to continue regardless of what I have to say about it. Only when it is decided in the courts of law will any kind of change take place to how the AI "study". I'm also against the whole AI art generator situation, until it can be shown to actually create things without copying something directly.

If the question is if its good enough to be released as a comercial game the answer is yes. I've seen my share of shitty games making some kind of comercial release. But the question should be: Is it correct? The answer would be no, it is not correct. These models have been trained on top of stolen art and the current model of AI art does nothing to help artists maintain themselves as artists. If we start "creating" stuff in Midjourney and sell it with the current model of copyright laws we will slowly, at first, destroy the living craft that it is to be an artist. This path leads to a future where nothing is ever new for an everlasting dumbed down society.

NOT theft. The AI learned about art the way EVERY artist did, by looking at many examples of other people's art and constructing an internally valid set of artistic constructs which are then used to spit out original works. Is it theft to look at art and to analyse it and learn from it? No. Your argument is nonsense.

When the piano and guitar were invented, did it put singers out of work? Did it devalue their contribution? No, it gave people often with crap voices the possibility to use a machine to create the sound instead? Cheating? No.
@BillyViBritannia
@BillyViBritannia Жыл бұрын
@@512Squared You are right about AI but your second argument is nonsense too, guitar and pianos never had the potential to replace human voice. Even the violin which was supposedly designed to sound like a human voice doesn't even come close. Yet AI art will definitely have the ability to replace artists in many roles. This doesn't mean however that artists will be useless. As an artist myself, what I have come to understand is that non-artists or amateurs don't even know what good art should look like. The amount of times a rookie showed me some instagram artist they admired and I thought to myself "that's middle school level shit" are innumerable. So yeah being good at art will still be useful in critical roles like art directors etc. If your dream was to churn out art like a machine for a living though you're out of luck.
@512Squared
@512Squared Жыл бұрын
@@BillyViBritannia Thanks for the comment Billy. I think it's subjective to say that we know for sure that instruments wouldn't replace singing, or even that it never had the potential. There is a huge genre of music that is purely instrumental. But yes, people like voices. And I think that point carries, people like being creative, and so that's why I see AI as another tool for being creative rather than simply replacing entirely previous forms of creativity. AI will be an artist. What it's capable of in terms of strict requirements imposed on artists in commercial work, we shall see how much it can function independently of artists with the skills to meet those requirements. I agree that doing art also teaches you to differentiate skills and even to have a deeper appreciation. That applies across all artistic disciplines. I take issue with you calling 'middle school level' as 'shit', since I see that as one of the problems of art, that it is ONLY about hitting some kind of height or skill level and 'shitting' on and failing to appreciate art at all levels, from complete beginner to stunning works of genius. Even a great like Picasso was trying to remove that snobbery from art by returning to naivism. We should appreciate creativity as a process, not simply as a set of goals. And for sure, appreciation for higher skill levels is understandably deeper, but it's what we do with our appreciation for 'lesser' skill levels that frustrates me. Criticise something for what it is, rather than what it isn't.
@BillyViBritannia
@BillyViBritannia Жыл бұрын
@@512Squared I used the unfortunate term "shit" in the general sense, same as I would say "that's some good shit". What I meant is just that amateurs, mistake other amateur art for professional art. Now I know some "amateur" art may be objectively - as objective as art can be - better than some "pro" art and I'm characterising them this way for the lack of a better word. Just saying since you seem to like to take words literally, as do I more often than not. Since we're on the topic though I found something you said interesting. "critisize something for what it is, rather than something it isn't"... If you really believe that then you can't ever criticise anything since everything is exactly what it is. I think you should criticise something for what it aims to be and 99,9% of amateur Instagram artists aim to be pros.

I am kinda shocked how they are getting away with this... They are literally stealing work of artists and calling it their own. I know what are some of you going to say... "Oh its just using it to train itself, it spits out original stuff it creates with combination of all its learned..." Are you sure about that? Because they did testing and found alot of times would just spit out identical or near identical photo it had in its dataset which it learned from. I bet when it spits out really great looking stuff its almost always just slight variation of some artist's work which can hardly be called original. When it spits out mediocre stuff thats when it "creates" most by itself.

There's never any direct copying of images happening. If it did, the current stage of which AI can create art would hardly be impressive. So there's no much grounds for suing/lawsuits. The only copyright or terms to take into account is what these software companies state. Which is "as long as you've paid our subscription, you can use it however you like". No one will get into legal troubles over this as it stands. However, what we should be talking about, is if these AI's should be allowed to train themselves by looking at art of artists who didn't consent to it. I use the word "looking" as the images never get stored, just practiced on and turned into math basically. It's complicated... But yeah, you can use whatever art this spits out as you please, no issue.
