No Rest for The Wicked is here in early access and it is HARD, but also beautiful. In this video I discuss my experience with the game soon after finally being able to play it.

I don't personally mind there not being classes as long as it's done right. Kingdom Come doesn't have classes and instead lets you go any direction you like and it turned out well. I feel like classes can be kind of limiting sometimes. I think multiclassing is the best of both worlds, especially in games like this. Grim Dawn's class system was very good and also makes sure that you're far enough ahead that you don't spread yourself to thin right out of the gate. I'm hoping this game does well. I probably won't play it, but the art style is interesting and those cinematics were a shocker. I didn't expect them to be that good at all.

Yes! Glad you found those reasons to appreciate it, even if it’s not for you! I hear ya regarding the classes. I usually prefer flexibility, but there are some games where I like strict classes because it creates a commitment to what you choose!

maybe there should be a signal or light flash when you should parry? like the old Dragons Lair game sorta?

That’s not a bad idea. Connecting a visual cue outside of the motion of the enemy swing would be helpful!

I feel like every enemy has like at least three attacks with different animation speed so i never guess right if i should parry on his windup or while he starts swinging, but i never time it right :D

That enemy I kill in this video at the end of night 2 was unpredictable like that. The first boss felt easier to me compared to that one enemy haha

There’s no clear way to take down multiple enemies lol. You just get stun locked/murdered
@Kintzugi
@Kintzugi Ай бұрын
I was (as you saw in the video) seriously struggling with that! Although being able to hit multiple enemies at once with some weapons was super helpful in those situations

What's even rpg about it? Levels and loot? I hate how we use the term rpg for any game that it doesn't even have a meaning anymore. (I am not criticizing the game directly, because i genuinely don't know lf it is a rpg or just have some few rpg elements, so they could stamp "rpg" on it.)
@Kintzugi
@Kintzugi Ай бұрын
Think of RPG as a tree and there are numerous branches to that tree! At its core, any game where you play as a character in a world, gain levels, and follow along its story is for the most part the basic definition of rpg. So with all that said No Rest For The Wicked would classify as RPG, yet it falls under a more specific branch of soulslike which describes its style of combat! I hope this helps and thanks for checking out the video!

Great video but disagree on reviews. People should review a game based on their experience if they like. It's up to you to have the brains to know which revies are emotion and which are based on objective fact. Think of someone telling you not to review a game well, just because 'you liked it'. See how dumb that sounds?
@Kintzugi
@Kintzugi Ай бұрын
I think I understand what you mean! It sounds like we are approaching the same thing from two different angles. At the end of the day, people can review whatever they want, how they want. I was coming from the specific context of those who say games they dislike are objectively bad just because they don’t like them. In which case, I go back to what you mentioned: it’s absolutely up to those listening to understand whether it’s objective or emotion! This is such a big conversation so I’m glad you are challenging me on my point! And thanks for watching the video!!

Difficulties it's lazy devellopement, slowing progression to make a game last longer is bad AF.... i'd rather get a less difficult game and more gameplay/lore/exploration
@Kintzugi
@Kintzugi Ай бұрын
I actually never thought about the idea of a harder gaming feeling longer and coming at it from that angle. That would be pretty nefarious of game developers to have that idea! When it comes to this game still being in early access, it’s far too soon to judge if it won’t have enough content though

Sometimes the game ain't even difficult, people are just stupid and can't play. Pretty much any fromsofware game (except for sekiro, that one really is hard) is like this. Mostly easy games, that require the player to pay attention. Most people can't even pay attention. It's more of an anti-stupid, than a hard game.
@Kintzugi
@Kintzugi Ай бұрын
@@matheusfigueiredo3181 I agree with you that most people have trouble paying attention now, which can attribute to reducing their potential in games, but lack of skill and stupidity are two separate things. For example: A FPS player is skilled in shooters but maybe not in MOBA’S. Not being proficient in MOBA’s doesn’t make the FPS player stupid, it just shows they have differing skills. Which in turn, makes some games more difficult. If everyone who is not skilled in everything is considered stupid, then to that end, the world is made up of 100% idiots and any game could be considered anti-stupid.
@matheusfigueiredo3181
@matheusfigueiredo3181 Ай бұрын
@@Kintzugi I get what you mean, but the point is exactly that some of these games do not require skill to beat. It is literally just paying attention. What I see most often in people that can't beat these games is literally lack of capability to think straight. For example, some of my friends that couldn't beat souls games, used to have the weird habit of spamming dodges whenever they were being attacked. But that is lack of thinking capacities. If your dodge uses stamina, and one doge is enough to get you out of trouble, why the fuck are you spamming dodges in a row? The same goes for attacking and blocking, people tend to spam the buttons as if it's gonna help. But it is lack of thinking. You don't want your stamina to get to 0 or to be attacked needlessly. Attack when you can/ have to, and the same with blocking. But people just can't think. They keep spamming buttons like they are having a seizure. From time to tike you will face some enemy that is a skill check, for sure. Where you have to properly time your actions and all. But for the most part it is absolutely not about skill, and 100% about lack of brain.
@matheusfigueiredo3181
@matheusfigueiredo3181 Ай бұрын
@@Kintzugi I get what you mean. But the point is that skill is not the issue. An example I see quite often is when I see some of my friends that can't beat souls games playing them. Most of the times, whenever they have to dodge, or block or attack, they just turn their brain off and spam the button. Given that sometimes pressing them once or twice is enough to get whatever you want done. I get that some people are used to button spamming. But bro.... when you die 15 times because of the same mistake, and keep repeating it, i'm sorry, but it is not a skill issue at all. It is a lack of brain issue. I see that specially with dodging with my friends, where they just spam dodges until they have no stamina left and die because they have no stamina left. And most of the times one dodge would have been more than enough to get them out of trouble. And this is not skill. It is just simple logic that some people just can't follow. Sometimes there will be an enemy that will be a skill check, obviously. But for the most part, these games are easy. As long as you use your brain. Skill is definitely not a major winning or loosing point. It is completely different from and FPS or a MOBA where you need to have that perfect aim, or the perfect timing to use some wombo combo. It is literally just thinking.
