For the non Japanese viewers, they didn’t actually say siao when Ghib asked for Chili padi 😂 I’m surprised he even knew what Chili padi is. Or maybe no other types of Chili so he just said no 😂 Fukuoka was my first destination in Japan and I’ve returned 4-5 times ❤

Thanks for all yr videos on travel in Japan, come in handy now that we are planning for a trip to Japan. Watching yr video is like travelling with an old friend to Japan.
To all the Singaporeans who are commenting that Chatterbox is not as famous or too expensive or taste just like normal c-rice: Chatterbox had its heyday in the 1980s-1990s. All the other brands did not exist yet. It is not that Chatterbox c-rice is bad...its just that the rest of the industry caught up.....Its like the "famous-long queue" chicken chop in Shilin market in Taiwan... they were the OG...but the rest of the world has caught up and their taste is no longer special. For the older folk, hawker c-rice today is so much better than hawker c-rice in the 1980s...... Chatterbox was legit the best back then....

Yes certain stall in sg chicken rice does have cabbage, beansprouts and even pineapple. Try the stall in Katong shopping centre.

Never heard of Ichiran Ramen until I saw a long queue at one of the stores in Fukuoka, so I decided to give it a try. Have to eat it multiple times every time I go back to Japan now 😊. It's expensive, but it's tonkotsu ramen like no other🤤

Omg can’t wait to visit Japan! That ferry looks awesome and is a mode of transportation I can totally consider for my trips there❤❤
Hey Ghib! Great video and thanks for letting us know more about Fukuoka. Maybe you could show us more about the nature scene in Japan next time, that would be awesome!
I think Fukuoka is a pretty nice place. Not the busy and bustling Tokyo or Osaka. I enjoyed my trip back then in 1997. It's been ages since my last trip.

Didnt knew about the ferry, maybe it's because gaijin normally only use JR pass. Fukuoka always is on my list of visit, maybe next year i should go kyuushu

The chicken rice is cheaper in Japan. In Singapore at the Mandarin the chicken rice SGP27 a portion. The soup in Singapore also has cabbage and tofu.

Exsctly. I think he is comparing to hawker stall chicken rice instead. lol

Mandarin is now known as Hilton, hotel changed brand, but same location
Is the OG Chatterbox in Sg the one at the Mandarin Hotel on Orchard Rd? If so, I dined there when I stayed there in the early 90s. I recall it was so expensive my mum only ordered the French onion soup for her lunch 😂 I have no idea what I ordered but it wasn't chicken rice.

i missed Fukuoka so much. I still remember it was the first time i took taxi in Japan and the taxi driver took me to the wrong hotel. Instead of hilltop spa he brought me Hilton Hotel, Lol.

How to book the sleeper ferry? I looked at their website, they have so much description but it didn't have the option to book!
Too much work to make it at home! Especially when it’s quite affordable and accessible everywhere

I thought you will introduce the chatterbox chicken rice at their restaurant in sg. But instead, you choose to do it in Japan. lol. Anyway I am pleasantly surprised that they bring it to Fukuoka. It seems sg signature food is slowly making it's way to overseas.

I think why people gravitate towards Ichiran is just the branding. It's like McDonalds. It's everywhere and it's a known quantity. Plus, they have English menus. I'm sure many people would try the cheaper ramen joints if they had English menus.

You should also include english subtitles for your videos, not only Japanese subs, because sometimes its easier to read when outside and honestly easier for viewers
@jeems20662 жыл бұрын
Japanese subs more logical though since he’s already speaking in English especially if he’s pushing out videos frequently, so there’s the time and possibly budgeting matters to consider. And assuming if one’s outside, people generally use earphones or headsets so hearing shouldn’t be an issue. Of course there are some inconsiderate ones that put their volume on full blast lol. Of course there may be those in the deaf community so in that case yes, English subs are necessary, but ultimately down to a balance of whether priority should be for audience within the larger population segments

As usual, I dropped by to watch yr video again. I squirmed though when I saw Ghib san eating raw horse meat 😲🙉! Hmm other than fish sashimi, it's definitely not something I would dare to do. LoL. The lady in blue who's CEO of her own company, capable Japanese women should venture out of Japan, like SG where I think they can flex their abilities more. I may be wrong/ mistaken but my perception is that there are greater challenges or obstacles for women in Japan to succeed as compared to SG. In SG, an able and capable woman can go very far and our govt is encouraging more women leaders. Example, Taka (shimaya) CEO is a Japanese lady.

Chatterbox is overpriced bullshit in Singapore. Maybe Japan had better chickens, but I'd eat a $3-$5 packet of chicken rice from any hawker any day over Chatterbox. Even Tian Tian is better than Chatterbox.
