Hi Hampton, do you ever plan to add an option for a paid "ad-free" version of the app? I like using it in place of just following the routine and setting my own timers, but the audio ads popping up and interrupting my music on my earbuds is enough to keep me from using it.
@hellohampton9 ай бұрын
@@bindedshadowyup! There should be an ad free version for people want to support the app in a few weeks. Excited for it! It'll be really important to the future development of the app. Some have asked for "lifetime no ads" and I'm open to exploring the idea! However, I am concerned people with confuse that with lifetime access to other features (like say, trainer consultation) which would be very hard to do. So I'd like to release the subscription version for now until we've built the stuff that would be bundled into a lifetime premium option. Will update as I know more, thank you!

Yup there are plenty of free options! I do the hand resistance thing and that alone can really add to someone's training, in my opinion. Mostly because most people don't train their neck directly like this. Also makes the area seem more sturdier, which is always nice.

One caveat here. I have a thick neck, not a fat neck and i have mild sleep apnea and i use a mouth guard when i sleep. Doctors will tell you even a muscular neck exceeding exceeding 17 inches for a man (mine is 18.5 inches) and 15 inches for a woman can cause sleep apnea.
@HybridCalisthenics9 ай бұрын
That's really interesting! My neck is around 17 inches or so I'll have to keep an eye on the apnea if it gets any larger. I wonder if it depends on one's frame too. Like I'm not really a big person, so 17" might be significant. For larger people, maybe 17" would be okay? Thick neck jokes aside though, if an individual never trains to failure on these and only does the light sets & reps recommended, they probably won't get TOO muscular. There will still be some growth but I don't know if it'll be exponential. It may depend on how they train and other factors.
@davidwagner96449 ай бұрын
@@HybridCalisthenics The length of one's neck also comes into play a doctor told me. I see UFC fighters using this product all the time. I would think using lower reps or isometrics would be fine. I was a wrestler (215 lb weight class) which is why I have a thick neck.

So speaking of necks, here's a fun factoid for ya. Myself and several of my friends wrestled in high school, and we've done a fair share of jiu-jitsu since then. Needless to say, we have exceptionally strong necks. Turns out this is both a blessing and a curse, as a few of us have had long term neck problems that weren't noticeable *because* of how strong our necks are. So, fellow grapplers, don't shy from getting your neck checked out when addressing other problems!

I prefer the neck flex. Simple, well tested, well made, flexible, lightweight can travel with it. I’ve strengthen and thicken my neck without losing rom.
@oldvlognewtricks9 ай бұрын
Is there any reason this design would prevent that kind of training? And can the fine adjustment or smooth movement from the sliding track be replicated with the harness design - or do you find those to be unnecessary?
@Yasmuraz9 ай бұрын
@@oldvlognewtricks why I like it? light weight cheaper, and can be progressively overloaded, used with bands and weight. Neckflex allows cervical flexion, extension, and cervical side bending-without a bulky disc, and iron neck only has one anchor point. Some may like this, I like how secure the neckflex feels. Again I like it because it simple and lightweight. Iron makes it easier to train cervical rotation I’ll admit, but I have little trouble doing that with my harness. Again apparently I need to reiterate that’s why I like. You are entitled to your own opinion. Oh and also the iron neck guys seem pretty shady, since they basically copied neckflex’s product trying to corner the market. I don’t like that. Iron neck was big enough, now I know they’re really greedy.

The most comfortable version, though, would be putting your cat on top of your head - unless you piss the cat off, in which case it's likely to be quickly less comfortable, More stylish, too, than that silly ring, do a comparison test, walk down the main street of your town and see how many odd looks you get, either way. And the cat is a lot cheaper, and warmer on a cold day.

Hey I have been bed ridden for almost two years and rehabilitation is going well finally but my head is spinning all the time and even if it's not I still find it hard to stay upright, so I wondered if you might have any ideas on fighting that? No pressure really, just fishing for any new techniques I could present to my medical professionals and start doing them if approved. My first thought of this device was "Damn it, if this only could move around so I can walk normally. Sending you hugs! ❤
@HybridCalisthenics9 ай бұрын
Hey! Sorry to hear about your issues, but I'm glad to hear rehabilitation is finally going well. Hmm the dizziness may be hard to get around with pure exercise, but if you're looking for gentle movements, you can try some of the easier variations of our free fitness routine: www.hybridcalisthenics.com/routine (we also have a mobile app version if you prefer that) Particularly, the glute bridges and knee raises may help you since you can theoretically do them lying down (or in bed). Wall pushups might work too. I might avoid the other bridge variations until you ensure you have stable balance and control - safety first! The squat variations might cause some dizziness depending on how you handle altitude changes. And yes if you're dealing with medical issues, run those by a medical professional and get their thoughts! Cheering for your recovery 🙏

Mostly just specialized equipment. I go into this during recording but it may not have made the final cut. It appears to be a solid type of plastic (I don't know the exact material) with some metal parts. Metal would make it feel extra solid BUT might feel too heavy weighing down on my neck after a long time of using it. Seems ironic (ironeck 🥁) but I would probably not want that much downwards pressure while training. Good thought! I bet a lot of people wonder this.
