Back when my dad used to take the whole family to Vegas in the early 90s, we “upgraded” from the Motel 6 by McCarran to the Circus Circus. I thought we were living high, especially when he’d take us to the Circus Buffet or the Arby’s that was located in the strip mall next to CC (since demolished). Memories that will last a lifetime.

This was the GO-TO back in the 80's. I remember my siblings and I so excited when our dad announced we were going to Vegas. That meant Circus Circus arcade and their fabulous buffet (to us kids at least). The food was simple then but oh so delicious. The servers were warm and friendly and treated all the customers like VIP. The manager was always an older man in suit walking around getting to know their guests, super friendly and joked with my parents. THAT was old Vegas which we all miss.

To this day it was the most terrible restaurant I’ve ever been to. Even the grated cheese in the salad bar looked inedible. I think I maybe just had croutons because everything else had been unappetizing. My mom got so mad at my dad for taking us there I’m pretty sure our family left to go somewhere else. I’m pretty annoyed to see they’re charging so much now for food that is still pretty bad. If you spent $30 a person at Denny's, you'd get a lot more bang for your buck. It looks as though Circus is re-purposing left-over food and double or triple frying to "freshen" it up. Buffets get a bad wrap cuz they're wrapping them badly, does that make sense?🤔😄 Hope y'all have a great year 🥂🎰🙋🏼♂️

Good work, Ruby. From what I could see, and my experience in the industry, Most of what they serve they only heat or prep. It comes out of a can, box or bag. At the better buffets (Paris, Rio, Caesars, etc.) they actually produce the dishes so they can keep it fresh, adjust the taste and use the large professional banquet kitchens & bakeries on site. Most all that comes in on a truck from a distributer for "heat & eat". Even the cakes & pies. Sad since they used to do better but they've raised prices, cut cost and reduced staff post covid.

I know this video is pretty old but I just found the channel and I love it. I don’t know if this is your intention but I like the fact that you review and do the things that 90% of the people who visit Las Vegas do. You eat at regular places, and stay in regular rooms. I appreciate that, thank you. But the real reason I posted was to let you know why the meatballs and the taco meat tasted like breakfast sausage. If they grind meat for their kitchen to make meatballs etc then you will probably want to know: The sausage and probably bacon that didn’t get eaten at breakfast were almost definitely thrown in the grinder with the beef. As a butcher, I can tell you this was a very common practice in restaurants and supermarkets until the very early 90’s. Some shady places probably still do this. Circus circus is definitely one of them.

I've said it a bunch of times being a Las Vegas native. There are NO buffets worth 60-75 dollars per person. Circus used to be just stainless steel warming tables full of slop but I'd still rather eat there than spend 65 a person lol. Great video guys.

I'm wondering if the meat was TVP. Made from soy & gives off different flavors if not seasoned right. The ground tvp can also be made into burgers and sausage. Alot of restaurants use it bc of shelf life

I know that food prices are up but $30 for that sounds like a bust to me. I'd rather spend a little bit more for a better buffet or just go off strip to a restaurant for way better quality for probably less.

I’ve noticed over the years, about the past ten, the quality of food at buffets has gone down while the prices have gone up. It is a shame.

@@CheekyBird790 I don’t think imma be doing any more buffets. Prices are obnoxious and the quality of food doesn’t match the price. They’re basically charging for the quality of a bygone era. Haha…

I was shocked until I thought about the fact you can literally spend that at most restaurants for one meal drink and dessert. But you can bet if I'm going I'm making sure I'm starving when I do.

I went on a cruise once that served hot dogs and fish sticks as entrées on the line. Kinda like a corn dog. Im pretty sure that was for the kiddies. The ship had no children.

I’ve had fond memories of this place. My mom, her husband and myself all decided to eat at the Circus Circus buffet. They said it was the best buffet in town 30 years ago. Oh boy, everything we put on our plate tasted horrible. It was uneatable. When we left the restaurant, we were still hungry and went to eat at In and Out Burger.

Yeah, I had same experience when going to New Orleans. People kept saying certain places were awesome, but damn, lot of it was greasy, too spicey (I mean WAY SPICEY ... like volcano spice, because I don't mind some spice), and fatty pieces of meat. I couldn't believe it. So, we ate at Burger King there most nights, and it was one of best BK's that I've ever eaten at. Mind-blowingly good BK, and it was even cheaper too.

I ate there about 8 years ago for $12. I was very happy with that price for the type of food that was there. For $60 for two people, you're better off to go to a hot table in a Mexican grocery store for $15. I mean, a buffet is supposed to give you all the choices, but the problem is they all can't be fresh and the people who go to a Las Vegas buffet typically keep eating the fries and pizza. I'm Canadian and there is not a lot of Mexican food up here, so I'll explore the real stuff and leave the decoy stuff for the other people . My favorite is the Aria buffet. Nice quiet cafeteria like environment. Quiet. Decent price. I do my patented "Breakfast Sneak" and show up at 10:56, eat breakfast items and then lunch items. Lat time I did that was on a voucher I got from Vdara for even more savings. I don't do dinner buffets. You stuff yourself and don't have the rest of the day to walk it off and are uncomfortable for the evening. Breakfast sneak and then a lighter dinner meal like Earl of Sandwich and maybe a snack later. Your first time you go to Las Vegas, you want to visit every buffet and then you realize you are uncomfortable as hell and can't even bend over.
@IP0Monsturd2 жыл бұрын

Oh man, when you were dishing up your 'Yella' Shrimp Pasta, the employee looked like they were waiting to take that pan away and replace it. Perhaps because it had been hanging around too long. I would have stopped you and put in the FRESH shrimp pasta, at least!! They probably saw you filming, too, and just have no shame! 😲
