Not being able to see the opponent's piece's abilities during the game seems like a huge oversight. That would mean you would have to study every piece before the game and memorize them during the game. But since there aren't that many piece options, it might be fine? But not if you've just started playing.

Considering the game is still being worked on i'm sure the dev would add the option to press longer on a piece to bring up its info.

@@mitigamespro8757 *us actively taking notes* -- this will be a feature eventually! But you should check out the game: it's built in a way that you learn pieces 1 by 1 as you progress in the game. This helps make it not overwhelming and a smooth learning curve

@@foryt9427 they also need to use less complex and simpler to look at designs, as well as having black pieces be actually drawn correctly, cuz they look like they're just silhouettes of the white pieces.

Nelson, please, would you mind on the next phone screen share moving it a bit more to the center of the screen? I figure if you could do a 2/3 Nelson 1/3 Game kind of setup it could be a bit more comfortable to watch. The game is pretty sick tho, do another video when it goes out on the stores!

I think when it comes to the assassin pawn, it can capture straight because I saw it happen in the first game, it's just that the dev didn’t see it as advantageous.

Was thinking about a different chess variant. Like normal chess, but with the following modifications: 1. Both players move simultaneously. Both players indicate their move, and when the slower one indicates the move, the both moves are performed. Captures 2. If White's piece A tries to take Black's piece B and B also tries to capture A, they are both captured and removed from the board. 3. If A tries to capture B, but B moves, B has already started to move by the time A gets to his starting square, so is safe. 4. If both pieces move to the same square, they are both mutually captured. Checks and checkmates 5. If both sides checkmate at the same time, the game is drawn. 6. If one side checks and the other checkmates, the game is won by the checkmater. The deadly embrace 7. If the two kings are on opposite sides of a 4x4 square, they can both move towards each other (if those moves would individually be valid in normal chess), allowing the kings to touch. The following move by each player must be to either move their king onto where the opponent's king was (as if he were capturing it), or move away. Again, if the king would not end up in check by any other piece. Time 8. The time for a move would be from when the last moves are performed to when the current move is indicated. The players can see their own clock and the clock of their opponent when the last move was performed (so the players cannot tell whether their respective opponents have already indicated their move or not). Take back 9. If a player has indicated his move and his opponent is yet to make a move, he can retract his move and make a different one. The time for the move would be the total time from when the last move was performed to when the move was replayed. 10. If a player retracts his move and his opponent moves before he has replayed his move, the original move holds. In this case, the move is considered ended when the opponent makes his move, not when the retracted move was originally made. There are, no doubt, other edge cases that would need to be considered. I would like your thoughts on such a variant (pity the name 'simultaneous chess' is also used for something quite different).

You should play a chess variant that has all the same rules as normal chess, except that players are allowed to capture their own pieces. Could definitely lead to some interesting lines of play.

I'm afraid the bugs Nelson was seeing still exist. The game crashes when one wins on time. It happened to me twice in a row. I don't understand how to win credits to unlock more prices. So far it feels like a buggy pay to win chess game. That's unfortunate because I fell like there's a really fun idea hidden here somewhere, it just needs more tinkering.

I feel like stockfish could be super useful to balance out the game. If at 3200 elo both engines with different setups have a 50% win rate it’s probably balanced. Other games like Clash Royale usually has a lot of broken cards.

Sometimes it's okay if a setup is better than another setup, as long as there is a third setup that counters it, kind of like a rock paper scissors setting.

Chat GPT can do it. In fact it can add its own special abilities into the game like teleporting and spawning its own pieces and opponents pieces. It has been playing this game before the dev was.

I think for now yes stockfish wouldn’t handle the differences in gameplay, but it wouldn’t take long to train the AI on the rules of this game now that it’s developed. It’s why Alphazero took years and years and years to beat a master Go player and then became an elite chess engine in like a few weeks. There’s actually a good documentary there.

@ScarletDeathweaver is 100% correct -- adjusting Stockfish engine (or any engine) to work with Chess Titans is EXTREMELY difficult... Stockfish can handle variants of things like "more pawns on the board", but cannot easily handle pieces with entirely new abilities and moves. Trust us, we've been trying to use StockFish engine to build player vs computer features and had to scrap it. We found that its easier to build from scratch and it has been taking months & our dev team is a bunch of studs.

It works when I use the link on my phone. I do find the game to be a bit of a timeout fest though. I've yet to see an actual checkmate and it's frustrating to play against the clock with no premoves when the game takes pieces out of your hand/selection just so you can't hover an option and both sliding and tapping take enough time under pressure to actually run down the clock. It NEEDS a time increment, or just more time, especially with having to learn new pieces. The way it is, the optimal strategy is to not think and just play BS moves trying to time out your opponent, which is not chess or really enjoyable. A letdown, tbh.

Guys, DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME. It has a terrible energy system that refills once every *24 hours!!* You can play until you run out of energy, then you can play at most one per day. I gave it the benefit of the doubt and assumed it was just the energy system for chest gain, but no. You can't play _at all_ if you run out of energy.

I mean this is just horrible. These new pieces are just strictly better than the classic ones. I thought the point of making such game is tht you can choose different pieces, which offer something new, but about the same power level. In this game you will never pick a standart rook or a king, and when I say never, I mean it. Why not just delete standart pieces from the game if noone will ever use them... I bet there will be soon an option to level up your pieces or similar crap
