All this drama would have been avoided if Ryan had told Emma right after the party that Ethan liked him and that he wasn't interested in her, instead of letting her pining after him (although she didn't know him at all so she should have gotten passed that quickly, I mean, I would hardly call what Ryan did a betrayal).
