I found this giant bearing at the scrap yard and I turned it into a beautiful knife. The brass that I used was also from the scrapyard. I used one of the rollers and my new hammer for this project. I forged the roller out to 8 inches with the tang and machined several brass pieces for the handle.Forging this knife from a bearing is tricky but was a fun and I enjoyed the challenge.

you do amazing work . when turning parts in a lathe 3 x the diameter of material sticking out of the chuck max without a tail stock support. it will keep you safe from potential bad things happening.

That was amazing , I grew up around the corner from a blacksmiths shop here in the U.K. and because of that I gained an interest in metal work and went on to become a welder fabricator building everything from machinery to heavy structural steel. When I was at school they had a metal work shop with a forge and I spent a lot of time on there hammering hot metal into pokers, toasting forkes and chisels etc so I appreciate the level of skill that’s needed to complete the task of making a knife like you just did and even though I’ve been a metalworker for around 35 years it still amazes me to see a blacksmith in action working on a forge. There was a time in days gone by when everyone from farmers wanting ploughs made to a guy who just wanted door hinges went to guys like you. These skills must be kept alive, Well done keep it up !
