Very cool Doug! And just FYI. You got me started in carving 5 years ago when I stumbled across one of your videos. Ive dated every one of my dozens and dozens of carvings (many given to friends and family) and its amazing how far I've come along. (And how many knives and gouges of every sort I've collected along the way - ha ha!). 70 now and hope I have a few years left, its been one of the most enjoyable things I've ever done. Thanks Brother stay well!

Doug, you have such a beautiful place to enjoy being outside and carving. I love that you brought your gnome house along on the journey, it seems like an appropriate place for it. It is always a pleasure to watch your videos,. Hope all of your family, are doing well. Thanks as always for sharing. 👍🏼

Thanks for sharing. Willow grows everywhere in Alaska and the moose love it but there is loads so this will be cool to try.

I've got some of those flowers. I've got a couple of whittling books that show how to carve rooster feathers. We had some trees cut down because they were dead. One was by our house in-between the propane tank and the generator. The others were birch trees. I moved cut up trunk and branches and noticed some were the end ones. I had an aha moment that I could whittle these in to feathers. Your campsite reminds of the area that surrounds our house. We have a fire pit and I've thought about camping out on our lawn. Primitively.

good job Doug . I do make a whole bouquet of flowers at one sitting , but I do use a shave hourse that I made and a flexcut draw knife . works great as you mentioned . yes one or two at a time with just the knife as you also said . they are pretty and people sure do enjoy them . they make a great gift .you did a very good job using just a knife . by the way that Mora 106 has the perfect bevel and sharpnes for doing these flowers . It was made for taking shavings like this off of spoon handles . your Bouquet looks lovely ..... who you giving that one too ??? wink wink .

Love it, Doug! Just out of curiosity, is there a reason you don't do much chainsaw carving anymore (or do you?) Do you prefer the knives and handtools? Just curious. I just realized today you had some older chainsaw videos because you mention it in your tree 1x1 video, so I searched for it. Either way, love it all! Thanks

I'm good but some people shouldn't be drilling towards the other hand holding the wood.I remember you are an experienced carpenter and you make it look easy but I'm thinking about the fool I know almost lost his finger in a circular saw . Just like everyone to enjoy our crafts. I've got a willow tree and lots of 1.5 sticks of one season growth so I should try this project . Great choice of knive. Thanks
