I turn my morning coffee into a filling breakfast - I dilute a tsp of instant coffee (vanilla, maple syrup or chocolate Little's are my favorites) into hot water, add either milk (1% fat) or oat milk, sweeten with hazelnut flavoring , caramel syrup, sugarfree vanilla suryp or cocoa drink powder, and finish with 100-150 ml of unflavored or vanilla flavor whey protein. I blend it up and drink it on the way to work. I rarely eat before 9 in the morning so this super tasty coffee keeps me going without getting hangry. I never feel guilty over it and with my ED background that is saying alot.

Yes!!! I don’t like mukbangs. From my perspective, if I’m trying to recover for my health, why on earth would I want to swing the opposite way and still be unhealthy, and majorly trigger myself? If I’m bothering with recovery, I want to be healthy. And I certainly don’t want to see someone doing what I fear most and binging on the foods that I don’t allow myself for fear of doing the same. This video is so helpful.

Honestly, as someone who struggles with foods and food portions, seeing you ADD food to these "trigger" foods to make them healthy really hit home. If you eat just the whole tub of ice cream, you wont be satisfied but still want more. If you add just some things to a few scoops it changes the game. I really appreciate you and your channel Abbey. It makes people like me realize that healthy/intuitive eating is possible.

I just remade the proats as a snack and loved this! I’ve been drawing so much inspiration from your channel and especially this video was amazing. I don’t restrict myself from any food (except meat for ethical reasons) because I think life is too short to not have ice cream. I work out a lot, I eat healthy but I think moderation is key and I love how you promote this on your channel 🤍

Abbey thank you so much, this is the video I needed ! I've done loads of work on intuitive eating since I last reached out and I intellectually understood what you and they were saying about gentle nutrition, but now I get it :) I've already started, I wanted fried chicken but instead of getting a bucket, I got some bake at home and made my own slaw so much tastier. Seeing you using the HCC really helped me absorb and understand. Thank you :D

Thank you for all of the great suggestions! One of my favorite foods is a bowl of white rice, cut cucumbers, carrots, avocado, edamame, and those fried onions that come in a can. Sometimes I’ll have it with a fried egg too! And I’ll usually top it off with a chipotle mayo (and hoisin sauce). It’s really yummy and comforting and I can have everything precut and easily eat it throughout the week for any meal!

When you started the beginning of the video with Frosted Flakes, I thought it was going to be a set up for bad nutrition justified somehow but as I watched, I have to say your approach seemed very balanced and grounded. What I especially love is that you don’t vilify any particular food but instead find ways to build a healthy meal out of many foods that have been triggering or misused. Nicely done. I am going to try your high protein oatmeal tomorrow morning!

My favorite oatmeal has always been oats with a raw egg added at the end, blueberries/apples, and peanut butter. I eat that at 7-8 am in the morning and won't be hungry until 2 pm in the afternoon. Always been my go to. Didn't know it was always a hunger crushing combo.

One more combination that I personally love to do is cake with Skyr on the side! It's super high-protein and very fluffy, so it's a lot like a slightly tangier and denser whipped cream and goes particularly well with chocolate cake. Cake used to be a huge fear food for me, specifically at social gatherings (well, it's been a while), however since my family or my partner's family are usually the ones hosting and I tend to have some Skyr around and a small slice of cake with a dollup of fluffy white stuff on the side doesn't look weird to anyone. If there's fruit (from the garden) I usually also take a piece on the side to add a bit of fibre as well!
