Lunch suggestions for all the commenters having a problem with that: I always prep a carb (quinoa, rice, millet etc) + protein (beans, chickpeas, lentils) + veggies (raw or roasted). Then I mix it up but I use different dressings to make it either a salad (add spinach and a oil vinegar dressing) or a Mexican bowl (add Mexican spice mix and oil) or Asian bowl (add soy sauce or sweet chili sauce). That way you get all the good stuff without it being boring and the same flavour every day.
@dharsheeran2 жыл бұрын
wake up and smell the coffee please. Peanuts, flax seeds, chickpeas, lentils, and beans have no protein. DIAAS shows that less than 20% of the protein on the nutrition label is actually being absorbed by your body from plant-based products (DIAAS is the protein quality scale, showing how much of the protein is absorbable by your body). Compare this to eggs, meat, or cheese, where 100% of the protein is absorbed and can be utilized. Also, plant-based sources do not have creatine, the essential amino acid needed to grow muscle. I understand how you got sucked into this cult of plant-based garbage, I was too. Abbey is a liar and is manipulating us all. As a previous sheep, I say to you, flee from that rotten shepherd.

I think it'd be really interesting to see you react to nutrition and diet culture-y scenes in movies... Not necessarily movies about, like, ED, but movies where it's more casually thrown in. I'm sure viewers could probably offer suggestions cuz there's a lot of questionable things from 80s to 2010s movies.

I have a mini pot that has the right size for one serving of oatmeal, so i make it fresh almost every morning in the colder months. The cleanup between one small pot and one bowl is pretty much the same. It's also sth. that my stomach really likes. My go to is flax seeds and penut butter as well. For toppings and extras, i usually have a big jar where i mix nuts and dried fruits etc. Whenever the jar gets a bit lower i top it up with whatever i feel or what's onnsale and shake the jar, so that's how i get vatiety.

@@AbbeysKitchen I was formerly manipulated by you. I lost my period and gained fat, while losing muscle, all while following your "healthy eating" habits. You liar, you make me so enraged. Please, ell your followers about the DIAAS. Plant-based sources of protein actually have no absorbable protein. Peanut butter isn't healthy, and we both know it. From anti-nutrients to excess calories and unhealthy fats shrinking our cell membranes and therefore longevity (look up Dr. Franz's study), peanut butter is horrible for us, and yet you promote it so frequently. My version of the cereal is milk (usually oat or soy milk), a serving or so of peanut powder, a serving a nutravege omega-3, then I stir in frozen raspberries, and break up any clumps, then dump in a bunch of Froot Loops. Keeping the raspberries frozen helps stop the cereal from getting soggy too fast.

I'd love your opinion on oats and type 2 diabetes. Obviously minus any sugar or syrups. Some medical professionals recommend oats/porridge for breakfast for slow release energy but the hardcore keto diabetics show it spikes sugars in the hours after eating. Tbh I'd rather a bowl of porridge than a low carb, fat heavy meal
@hG215092 жыл бұрын
I’m replying to you because I’m also a dietitian. Oatmeal is a great option for healthy breakfast. It’s got fiber and does not usually case a spike in sugar. Now everyone reacts to foods different and spike in blood sugar will depend on what is in it and the portion size. I think if you enjoy porridge for breakfast you can definitely continue to eat it . Like Abbey recommends pair your carbs with protein ( this could be Greek yogurt, nut butter, or eggs). After eating ~ 2 hours it’s normal to have BG trends between 100-180 (this is typical for those with diabetes) above 180 it’s considered high. Maybe try checking your blood sugar after eating porridge to see how it affects you. ❤

You shouldn’t be worried. The small teaspoon to tablespoon going in your oatmeal isn’t going to kill you. Besides, if a bit of added sugar gets you to enjoy eating much healthier foods, isn’t that a great thing?
@itsjudystube74392 жыл бұрын
@@lutziputzi It isn’t about sugar as in using a teaspoon of sugar or adding just a little Maple syrup, it is about the sugar content of the total ingredients, banana for example is high sugar. Even the strawberries and blueberries and especially the chocolate chips add to the effect on blood glucose levels. Sugar (starch, honey, glucose, fructose, dextrose etc) is particularly bad for the body where Cancer is concerned. I would like to know what additives are in the nut milk and in the protein powder. It all seems high in additives and sugar to me, but it could easily be tweaked to be clean of those things.
@lutziputzi2 жыл бұрын
@@itsjudystube7439 Natural sugars are great fast-acting energy for your body? A banana doesn’t even have more than 30 grams of carbs, nevertheless sugar. Last time I checked, daily sugar intake should be around 100 grams for a 2000kcal diet. It’s better to eat a little more sugar than to not eat vegetables because you can’t find pleasure in them. You can’t live your life being scared of bananas.

Question: I wake up every day at 6:30 and this year at work I have my lunch break at 10:30. I feel like eating before I leave the house wouldn't be worth it., So I just grab some coffee and eat "breakfast and lunch" at 10:30. What is a better solution?
@BC-np8cb2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like teacher schedule. I'm on a simlar time table, and I never want food before I leave home. Once at work it's go go go. I mix different raw or dry roasted nuts maybe with some unsweetened dried cherries, occasionally some chocolate chips. I just have a big bad of it for the week and eat some before work gets hectic. It's not ideal, but nuts for me are a good balance of, quick fuel that's not heavy feeling or messy. I'm often not that hungry before lunchtime, so I don't see any problem with waiting unless it causes other problems.
