My depression has manifested in the past as letting my room get out of control, particularly in high school with laundry & trash. It’s insidious how mental illness can trick your brain into seeing simple tasks like folding your clothes or washing dishes as these impossible feats, and you get stuck withering under that fabricated pressure while trash just continues piling around you. Therapy and support from understanding, patient loved ones that don’t jump at the chance to just call you “lazy” is a HUGE help, but ultimately it truly is up to *you* to push thru that mental block. You don’t deserve to live in squalor, neither does anyone that might be living in the same space as you. You deserve, at the very least, a hygienic and safe place to sleep. It’s not easy, it’s seldom pretty, but trust me when I say, it is *worth it.*

If he’s living with his grandmother in that home, adult protective services needs to be called. It’s unsanitary and a fire hazard. At her age it’s also a fall risk. She needs to be removed from the house. Hopefully if anyone knows who this is or finds out who he is, they can call adult protective services. Also what he’s doing with getting her all worked up, I forget what it’s called, but that’s also a thing that’s very frowned upon by adult protective services. It’s falls under some form of emotional abuse.

Well, from the situation, seems like this guy needs to be removed from Grandma’s house, if he is either this out of control, or so mentally ill he thinks his conduct is fine. Just the idea of talking to grandma about why it’s “fine” to drive drunk, apparently for the 6th time, when the grandma says she is sick of it and reasonably think it’s ludicrous, is wrong. Sadly I have seen several unemployed young adults who mooch off an elderly relative longterm but call themselves a “full-time caregiver” or say they can’t get a job because of their “care taking,’ which often consists of occasionally taking out one bag of trash. And they tend to be fairly disrespectful and abusive to their older relatives.
