The best new consistent money maker in oldschool runescape was released with secrets of the north. So I thought it would be fun to rebuild my bank starting with only a rune crossbow.
There has been some discussion on whether the phantom muspah can be killed with low level gear. Today I am going attempt the boss with a barebones start, and see how far we can upgrade out gear by rebuilding the bank.

A few pointers I'd like to mention for this boss on a "midlevel" acc I've done this boss several times on my 75ranged 82mage ironman with greendhide RCB and ruby/diamond/sapphire switch no kandarin hard sub65 prayer; the video definitely sells the difficulty a little short since as most viewers can tell he is on a maxed account "emulating mid level gear" but in reality having 99 range + range pot + rigour is SUPER OP for accuracy and maxhit; I cant imagine Range-Only being super viable at sub80 range. The few pointers from an ACTUAL midlevel account are: Use rings of recoil for SURE. Even if you have an imbued archer ring I cant see the +8 range boost being better than the return chip damage you deal back especially during prayer and final phase where it can get really stressful I use Ice Blitz until freeze into 3 blood Blitz and repeat. You actually have to conserve prayer better when you dont have 70 prayer (actually turn off Protect Melee unless you're about to fail the kiting AND flick eagle eye it's not too difficult) as well as conserving food with blood blitz unless you make little-to-no mechanical errors entirely. I understand thralls are better DPS but I hate Agility and dont want to use stamina potions on my ironman so this will allow you to finish every KC without any energy restoring methods provided you don't get super unlucky with freeze RNG. Switch to diamond bolts at around 200-260ish(?) hp not until after the prayer phase as shown in the video (depending on what your max hit is) I think I average like 5minute+ kills? And this is usually with at least 1-2 ruby bolt procs. I've had to abandon kills before on the final phase because I get unlucky and spikes cover the ENTIRE map or just run out of food from mistakes during melee phases so definitely not the most pleasant experience for a mid-level account. But... is very doable and is much easier on a non-restricted account (just not as easy as flipping makes it to be hahaha)

It's actually quite frustrating that this supposedly 'mid level' boss is only really viable if you have bis gear or slightly below that - all obtainable through arguably much harder content and much more late game focused. Bosses like Zulrah or Vorkath are very doable consistently with a rune cbow, msb and ibans blast whereas this is either insanely slow, a little less slow, still quite slow, pretty slow, 2m15 kills and 1m40 kills without using supplies at all.

Came here to say similarly.. with 99 range you're gonna have to drop the gear a lot lower than a rune crossbow+rigour to emulate someone with 70 range and a dragon crossbow+eagle eye. Rigour alone here is worth more than the crossbow + ammo upgrade.

@@GibsnRage yeah I don’t know why you’d ever emulate mid level using the best prayer in the game. Rigor is actually broken. If I could choose to never use a tbow or never use rigour I’d choose to never use a tbow every time, that’s how good it is.

Here is the issue. It is really unrealistic because the majority of the playerbase isnt maxed. (Not even maxed combat stats) and doesnt have diaries/certain quests completed. So for example, the triple proccing of the bolts and the potential of proccing bolts is because of Kandarin Hard Diary which increases proc rate by 10%. Higher stats means getting hit less, etc. It would make much more sense to do this on an account that would logically be just *slightly* above the level required to do this quest. As that would be something a common person would think. "Oh i have the required stats, a have a little bit higher than recommended. maybe I can farm this". Rather than a completed max account.

Yeah but it replaces the ancient shard drop and the uniques are 5 times rarer from it, so on average you are better off just getting an ancient shard drop instead of the cache for money. It's a pretty dumb item imo, would work significantly better as a tetiary reward that drops in addition to essence as it's not too common, 1/25 means it will take you like 1.5-2 hours to get this extra bit of reward from the boss instead of replacing a good drop.

@@dikoproz From a money stand point sure, but its more focused on a better chance of the uniques, it doesn't drop often enough to destroy the gp/hr, and it's great for collectors and irons. The essence is on the drop table of the cache as well. Its a gamble, you potentially lose out on 50k-200k for less weighted chance at a unique.

Great vid. I think it kinda highlights that your stats and your general skill are far more important than gear when it comes to bossing. I think Muspah is a great boss. Vorkath teaches more about movement in this game (if you Woox walk it, otherwise it's just piss easy) and this boss teaches more fundamental prayer flicking.

Love the vid man! Quick tip for any of your rebuild series brimstone ring is cheaper than archers and it adds all the ring stats besides suffering. It’s only worth it to buy archers ring if you’re going to imbue it.

A small tip for you bro, at 3:15 you didnt have to turn around. the pillars work similar to acid as far as movement goes, so if you're standing next to a pillar and there's a free tile on the other side of it, you can walk through the pillar without taking damage. Pretty useful for kiting, and getting out of tricky situations with the pillars

Would be interested to see how long the kills would be with an actual mid level account. Even with like god d'hide etc, but without 99 ranged, and without rigour, which is probably why my kills are taking 50x the amount of time.

Osrs should be like rs2 and runite bolts being able to be crafted into any bolt like dragon bolts .. I doubt it would drop dragon bolts price much but I think it would add value and profit to gems and bolt tips and make things better and less expensive.

Just a quick pointer: 1) Dagon Hai top and bottom is 9 less accuracy, cheaper by couple mil, has same weight as ancestral. Ye no def but at muspah it doesn't matter as much. 2) If buying/selling archer ring w/out imbuing just buy a brimstone ring, cheaper + accuraccy for mage if doing mage + range

I'm still getting pretty consistently bad kill times with bowfa and thralls lol. I'm not missing ticks, I don't know why I noodle so much with 99 range and divine pots. I gave up on the mage switch after splashing constantly with full ahrims, toxic staff, mage book, occult, tormented brace, 99 mage and saturated heart lmao

I love the "I only have 100K in my bank." It's just mildly amusing because most people would know that it's only 100K in "Tab 8" of his bank. The rest of his GP was converted to platinum tokens and were placed in a different tab. So he's not actually nearly broke, which is good.

Cool concept, but if the goal is to emulate an actual mid game account you really should be using eagle eye instead of rigour, and probably skip the ranging potion too. That'd bring your dps in line with 87 ranged + pot + eagle eye, which is much closer to what you'd consider mid game.

Maxing combats aside from prayer is extremely easy. 74 prayer only costs like 6m. Plus the 38m for rigour, that’s 44m. That’s less than 10 hours worth of most bosses for rigour. Sit at crabs or nmz for awhile then go bossing and you’ve got his setup no sweat.

@@prinzseel2366 Naw i would never. As far as i am informed levels matter more than gear. If you sent someone against muspah with tbow and 80 range+no rigour, he would probaby be as fast as someone at 99 rcb + rigour. It felt like the video sold the boss as a good money maker, but the fights take more like than average of 6 minutes for people with midgame gear + stats compared to midgame gear + max stats.
