My brain started diving into how complex the internal structure was going to be to get each adjacent section to rotate with the face... And then you pulled out the glue 😆
@RagePlaysGames3 жыл бұрын
Haha ohhhh yea, I do think its possible to do with a larger internal working area without glue, but glue seemed like the easiest solution here ;) I always joke at work that an engineers best friend is a full roll of duct tape and some glue.
@michaelkennell24203 жыл бұрын
@@RagePlaysGames The one that came to mind for me was some sort of honey/slime block checkerboard on each segment, then rotate it internally. Not sure if slime blocks stay connected if they aren't part of the rotating plane though. Your solution is definitely much easier on execution and troubleshooting headache! I designed/assembled vibratory conveyor systems, so my focus was making sure thing didn't stick together lol. WD-40 and loctite were by best friends there.

Hii. I love minecraft, and the create mod, and i'm a speedcuber as well. one thing i can say is though, rubiks cube has more than 6 faces to turn. (F, B, R, L, U, and D,) It also has the middle sections, annotated as M, E and S. We also have double layer turns, which, as it's called, turn two layers at once annotated with small letters of the faces, and cube rotation, annotated as x, y, z. Now that I think about it, Maybe one day I'll make one and share to ya'll.
@RagePlaysGames3 жыл бұрын
Yea, the middle faces do become possible with a slightly scaled up setup, but this size doesn’t have the internal space required for it. That said, a double turn on the external faces would couldn’t as an inverted internal turn, correct? Don’t wanna be mistaken cuz I don’t cube much, but I do recall turning two faces and then turning the external one back for an inner turn. I sucked though haha. And if ya do make one, I’d love to see it! :)

As did I, then thinking about it more, I am not sure this one is fully functional, he also only rotates one side and there's no world download only a schematic... Ok, maybe difficult but fun idea for a challenge. Make a wireless randomizer that will scramble it. Then solve it... by making a redstone contraption with a lot of delays and stuff, so that 1 press of a button, will do rotation after rotation after rotation, until it's solved.

Personally i think this kind of content is really cool, doing some quick builds in between the more complicated survival series, especially with a super complex modpack like A&B where a single episode can take days to plan the buildings, gather resources, record the gameplay and edit everything, breaking the pace with some cool builds like this is a really good idea to keep the upload schedule going. You should also put your schematics on the official Create discord server

Okay, but how does it scramble? Can you rotate multiple faces to actually shift colors away from the face they belong to? If you can't do that then your rubik's cube isn't actually fully functional, and I'll admit I'm a little skeptical since you never showed off a proper scramble in the video.
@RagePlaysGames3 жыл бұрын
Was it not shown in the initial clip of the video/thumbnail? I have a fully scrambled one in my world. Admittedly the center colors don’t move in this as a larger internal space is required for that, but rotating both external sides simulates an inverse internal rotation of said side. It takes 2x button pushes instead of 1, but to the same effect. So it is possible to fully solve it and to mix it up to your heart content :)
@pikminfreak00113 жыл бұрын
@@RagePlaysGames Oh right thumbnails exist lmao, I kinda blanked on that somehow. My bad. I'm actually kinda surprised this mechanism lets them rotate that freely, given how sticky super glue is. I thought the mod might've been the limiting factor there. Glad to see that's not the case. The middle not turning is something I expected, that's a trickier feature to emulate. But, rotating the 2 outer sides the opposite way has the same result like you said, so I'd still count that as retaining full functionality since that still leaves every possible position for the cube obtainable. All said it's a cool build either way, and given how inexpensive the mechanism is I think it would be a good survival mode build too. Some compact fan or windmill bearing setups could replace the creative motors.

Does each side of a cube not have a center part that rotates?
@RagePlaysGames3 жыл бұрын
The middle part can rotate if the setup is made larger to have more space for internal components, but it makes it about 3x as difficult to build unfortunately and makes the super glue aspect even more critical. In this case, I figured it was better to keep it simple since you can make an internal rotation on that side by 2 pushes of the buttons for both external portions :) so its still solvable, just some additional button pushes in some cases.
