Hi, would be awesome to see a feather game changer with your hen feathers! I made one with my own chickens feathers and it turned out pretty sweet!

Awesome! Ya I’ll look into it, I’ll have to continue to harvest feathers over the next few months. Come spring when temps warm they molt feathers more so I’ll be able to get more then for sure.

Using feathers from your own birds is a cool deal. I pull lots of frathers out of San Diego bay. There not good for hackles but fine for tails.

Awesome, yeah any materials can be used one way or another for flies.

I use my cats fur for a grayish brown dubbing and sometimes mix a tiny bit of uv ice dub to give it some sparkle.

Nice! Yeah I might try something with all the dog fur from my border collie! Haha

I have been meaning to ask you about this. I have a small flock like you and am curious of what feathers to keep an eye out for and where they can be used at the fly bench. Easier said than done. Thank you for sharing and god bless you sir.

Thank you! God bless you as well, and yes start collecting the feathers for sure. Many are usable.

during warm weather i trim the feathers i want with scissors. as long as you don't take too many it doesn't harm them in the least.

Oh that’s good to know, I’m not sure though I want to try that. I’d be scared of hurting then

Nice tie McFly! How deep will that fish?
@McFlyAngler Жыл бұрын
Thanks! The depth will depend how fast your stripping it. I can’t imagine though it will go super deep. I guess if you dead drift it through a slow moving pool it could get as deep as your leader, or close
