Use it almost a year now. Apart from lacking modern camera system such as potrait mode, this is the best phone i’ve ever had. Phone size is pretty bang on. Very easy for one handed usage. 12 mini is the best contender for this iphone. Iphone SE not worth upgrading from iphone 8.

@@JoshiiWah I like the overall footprint of the phone very much. When comparing to the 8, it’s shorter and lighter. On paper the mini is narrower but the width feels really similar due to the squared off design of the mini. The biggest difference is the battery life so far. Tbh if you’re not a tech enthusiast it’s not really worth the upgrade. The extra screen size doesn’t make a difference when contents are viewed in portrait. As for landscape, it’s only noticeable when viewing non 16:9 video. Still, you could zoom in on 16:9 videos but you lose some content at the top and bottom.

I have just the regular 8. I should have clarified, it is not my only phone, just what I use for my side business while working from home. Lasts all day, but I am only taking photos, commenting on social media, researching, etc. I paid $100, certified preowned from Sprint. Would definitely recommend it if you need a solid, inexpensive phone.

II was given an Iphone 8 as a gift 4 months ago. I love it-! I had a Iphone 5s for 4 years until it was stolen! I love the picture quality on this phone over my 5s, picture quality has improved since the 5s. You forgot to mention when taking pictures on the Iphone 8, you can take pictures in LIVE mode. You can create your own LIVE wallpapers when you take pictures in LIVE mode! I use that feature a-lot when photographing things like nature.

I work on selling phones and I have a lot of older people asking me for a good and a cheap phone for casual use. These people usually prefer a smaller phone and because off all that I recommend the iPhone 8 renewed, I think is much smoother than other 200€ android phones, has better cameras and I think iOS is much more intuitive for most people. I think for a casual use this phone is still brilliant, especially for the price!

I have an iPhone 8, which I bought in mid-2020 after cracking my 6 that I had used for 5+ years! I considered an 8+, because I was really disappointed the 8 didn’t have portrait mode, but it is a requirement that my phone fits in my back pocket. I love touch ID and don’t want to switch to face ID, even though I know I will need to one day. And it’s gold, of course!

For me this 8 is the most optimal way to get into the iPhone world for the cheapest way possible while not giving up on modern features too. There is the SE 2020 which is better but for the price and for being so close at the 8 i would pick an 8 instead. You got the A11 chip which is still performing, 4k60 recording, good cameras, TrueTone, stereo speakers all packed in a small form factor and for not that much. I was planning to buy one of this in the past months, i would have go for a Product Red model, and 64 gb storage option for like 160. Best way to get into the iPhone game hands down!

Just got a used one in beautiful condition. Like any used phone, the battery was on its way out. I replaced the battery myself ($15 for the part) and I am all set. Older iPhones that are still getting software updates from Apple are a good value, since the user experience is still much like the latest iPhones. If you don't need the latest camera, and you factor in a battery change, they are great.

How many hours did you get a day on the iPhone 8? I have the SE 2 and I saw a battery drain test and my SE beat the iPhone 8 by almost an hour and it has the exact same battery. I suppose it’s the A13 bionic chip. I assume you wouldn’t mind the SE, it has portrait mode doesn’t it?

I just upgraded from an iPhone 8 to an iPhone 12 blue! In my opinion it’s much better and I used to have a Samsung which you can guess was quite big I had it years ago and I literally had the 8 for 6 months and I thought that it wasn’t the right phone for me it’s amazing value and really good specs on it for today’s standards! Especially the gold colour like you mentioned haha! But all in all I prefer my 12 it’s beautiful I’ve had zero problems with it! iPhone 8 is a lot more affordable and to be honest the design doesn’t look dated whatsoever! I think the iPhone X looks less attractive than the iPhone 8 not the XR that’s amazing just the X seems older than it should be I guess? Anyways amazing review I’m glad you loved the phone and did this ‘mini challenge’ from your perspective of it! Your my favourite tech reviewer KZbinr you are! Well done!

I bought an iPhone 8 Plus at launch in September 2017 and used it up until February this year when I upgraded to the iPhone 12. It was a good phone and the only reason I upgraded was because I wanted something newer and more future proofed with no home button and faceID with better battery life. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are still great value phones at £200 or less and will get another 3 years of support at least. I would also consider buying the iPhone SE 2020 used as well because you can find them used for around £200 - £250 so that's probably a better buy than the iPhone 8 just because it's newer and around the same price.

Still use the iPhone 7, works well enough to still use. The only bad thing is the battery that runs no longer than 4 1/2 hours (100-0 %) on WiFi and 3 hours on 4g (with battery safing mode on from 60-0%. This year I am probably going to upgrade to the 13 series, If they is under screen touch ID and a 120 Hz screen.
