keto ruined my thyroid and now I am dealing with severe cortisol issues. Even clean eating isn't enough as I just learned from this video that cortisol breaks down proteins into sugar. That was an ahaha moment for me. So if you still have high cortisol eating keto can still cause weight gain. Hypothyroidism can be associated with higher cortisol levels. This is primarily because hypothyroidism can slow down the clearance of cortisol from the body, leading to elevated levels. This is me right now.

Dr Berg has a great video on consuming natto (a food) and improving circulation. I tried it and quickly thought that I could not acclimate to it. I found some nattokinase capsules and started taking them. I would take one before bed on an empty stomach. I felt an almost immediate benefit from them. Then I found nattokinase/serapeptase/lubrikinase (spelling might be off) and have been taking that for a couple of years total. Presently I do not take them every day. One of those three is believed to feed upon scar tissue that might be in your body from past damage or surgery or something. I’m no authority on any of it, but have had a good experience with improving vericose veins and other benefits. Dr Berg’s videos have been a tremendous benefit to improving my health. I bought Vinatura brand Lumbrokinase Natto-Serra (made in USA) from Amazon. God bless

I think he looked good in the before and still looks good in the after but I definitely noticed what you're talking about in his after face. A hollow face with the jowls can make a person look older. It's usually the result of having low body fat. This happened to my sister in her 30s and my ex husband in his 30s from extreme lean diet and exercise. I took collagen and the hollow look with jowls went away. I also put Amala/Alma cream on my face and neck. I refuse to look older while I'm still young. Where I need improvement now is under the chin. So I need to follow the facial excercises he mentioned that gets rid of the under chin issue aka turkey neck. 😅 Bryan Johnson lost a lot of weight going vegan and doing intermittent fasting and it gave him a hollow looking face which a lot of his followers said made him look old. His goal is to look younger and reverse aging. So he had fat injected in his face. He should've just done collagen instead though. Like a vegan one.

Intermittent fasting may lead to increased cortisol levels in some individuals, particularly during prolonged periods of fasting. Cortisol, a stress hormone produced by the adrenal glands, can rise as a response to the physical stress of not eating for extended periods. This is part of the body's mechanism to mobilize energy (e.g., by breaking down stored fat) during fasting. However, the extent to which cortisol increases during intermittent fasting can vary depending on factors like the individual's stress levels, diet, fasting duration, and overall health. For some, the increase in cortisol may be temporary or minimal, while for others, especially those already under stress or with certain health conditions, it could be more pronounced. If you’re concerned about cortisol spikes from fasting, it’s essential to monitor how you feel during your fasts and adjust your fasting regimen or consult a healthcare professional if needed.

I lost 52 pounds and really improved my health 3 years ago. The one side effect I did not like was I formed "Ozempic face" although I was not on Ozempic. I did mine through intermittent fasting and keto. I literally look 10 years older with wrinkles and a slim face. I've been rubbing castor oil on my face every night for 4 months but can't tell much difference. I think it's a loosing cause.

Wow! I never ever thought about moon face from cortisol!? I take Prednisone but it hasn't affected my face. I know when I gain weight my face looks huge then once I lose weight my face looks slimmer like when I was in middle school.

I have loved you for many years...starting IF and keto have been huge....no the pounds don't drop off..but I set my mind to the fact that I didn't gain this weight overnight either, I made bad choices, I still do, but I know it by the way my body yells at me...I do 2 meals a day, fat fiber protein...some days that first meal after 11 or later is enough and I just go with omad....Thank you so much❤ You have aged like fine wine Dr Berg....You're a God send to me at just having turned 61 this week

I like the before and after pic. Both handsome. One healthier and one unhealthy. I appreciate the information and insight you're giving in this video. It's giving me something to think about with my habits and patterns. Stress has been my enemy for so long and totally working against any progress I would make with change of diet, better sleep, fasting and exercise. I have to get the stress under control so I can finally see the benefits of any healthy efforts I make. I once had a chiropractor tell me that they couldn't do an adjustment on me because they said my body and muscles were too tense. I was confused because I felt fine and relaxed to the point of wanting to take a nap. They didn't believe me. 😂 This was in my 20s. A massage therapist injured me once from over doing trying to massage out a knot of tension they felt would leave my back. I didn't understand what they were trying to do. I felt relaxed. 🤷🏽♀️ SMH. I ate terribly in my 20s. I clicked the link for the cut out. Thabks Dr. Berg! 😃

I prefer your old face, It's nice that yo finally were able to grow facial hair .. But if you get your old face back and use this facial hair that's a good combo i would say for you. Is it because you started eating so much eggs that your facial hair started growing?

Great content, as always. It's hard to tell if my face deflated a a result of dropping my cortisol levels or that pesky 85 pounds I lost. Likely both. Thanks for all your info and support.

Sorry Dr. Berg, but I honestly think you just became skinnier and older, which is normal after 10 years. You were way way younger in the before picture. Now you've lost quite a lot elasticity and skin fat in your facial structure as well.
