@victory the huge footing with the beams sticking up were for the spancrete sled pour table. They would pull rebar from the anchor point and put incredible pulling pressure on the cable/rebar inside the spancrete double Ts while the poured each section. It locks the cable/rebar into the contrete under the pressure/tension. This provides an incredibly strong tensil strength. You can imagine the tons of pull tension on the beams sticking out of the footing.
@JohnThompsonthegreatАй бұрын
The really bad news is these beams would have been driven into the ground with a diesel powered hammer to around 20 feet to 30 to get the holding power needed to hold that much sideways pressure. Maybe not but that was typical of how they do it.

When the dump bed dropped as hard as it did it may have pushed the oil out from pressure or blown the top seal. Keep that tandem you'll need it when you start your second crew

I used to work at a precast concrete company, and I heard you say that was the area where the cables were attached. They would tension the cables at the one I worked at to like 2500 psi or something like that. So I can see why it would need to be that reinforced. It was for these giant metal forms to make things called T-beds to build parking garages. There were 5 cables about 7/8" with 11 bar tied to them down in the beam part. That was a horrible job tying those to the cable.
