Fun fact: On June 2nd an angler named Austin caught a 66 pound flathead. He posted it on a Facebook group, where it got a lot of attention.. Mainly because it was an absolute monster, but also because the picture was taken away from the water. Even though he stated the fish was released numerous times, the keyboard warriors attempted to bring him down. While you have the right to wonder if people online are telling the truth, I fully believe Austin was telling the truth. I feel, almost without a doubt, I caught the same fish 18 days later. On Facebook, Instagram, and KZbin community I posted both photos. You be the judge.

I caught my first 50+ flathead when I was 10 now 43 years later I’ve got 32 over 50 under my belt with my biggest being 74.2 so I’m a fair judge when it comes to flats. That was definitely a 60+ and if he had a few more meals in him I believe he’d easily go over 70. Great job and congrats.

You should do a video over your go to set ups for catfishing, like which rod and reels you enjoy most, which terminal tackle you prefer (seen 6th sense has that catfish hook), then cutbait and how you go about getting your cutbait

Josh, you are 100% correct on the vertical bite on the circle hook. I fish from a boat and when I suspend drift fish, those hooks have a hard time finding the corner of the mouth. I do hook some in the tooth pad on the roof of the mouth, but it's a lot of missed fish. Going with a much bigger circle hook or a wide gap or traditional J hook has helped. Sometimes, letting the fish run out away from the boat a bit helps that circle hook find a corner. Awesome fish! Congratulations!

Absolutely amazing catch Josh!!! I just recently moved to Oklahoma and i cant wait to catch a flathead!! Im originally from Washington State and we definitely dont have catfish like that up there. Found this cool little spillinway underneath this old damn at a place called Lake Overholser and caught a few channels and saw A LOT of alligator gar but was also only fishing for about 45 minutes with my daughter using her little closed face reel and pole. Cant wait to get my good gear mailed down here, especially my Lamiglass which could absolutely handle some monsters! I'm sure you hear this ALL THE TIME but if you ever come down to Oklahoma (specifically OKC area) I would love go out fishing. A friend of mine here has caught quite a few hogs and knows some great honey holes! Let me know 😉🤣
