It’s awful when something happens! My husband was diagnosed with rectal cancer in February of this year. He was a super tough SOB and he only had a few bad days through oral chemotherapy/radiation and IV chemotherapy. Tuesday will most likely stop that, at least for a while as he is having a bowel resection with ileostomy placement. So, now it falls on me-taking care of him in the hospital, taking care of the animals on the farm and hauling hay to our cows (on a summer pasture about 30 minutes away because we’ve had no moisture all summer ). It’s overwhelming just writing this. We have people offer to help here and there but the thought of it intimately falling on my shoulders is…yeah. Thank you for your videos that have offered me some solace from my problems and stress. I love you and your family❤❤❤❤

Look up sciatica stretches to help relieve some of that frozen electrified lava shooting down your legs. That's the best way I can explain sciatica. I've had it for 10+ years now and the stretches help. Also, resting is doing something. Resting is allowing your body time to recover and heal. It took me years to accept that, but it's true.
@julielivingston9207Ай бұрын
i have been dealing with sciatica for just over six weeks.. i dont know how you have dealt with it for so long.. i looked up stretches on youtube for people over 50, ( im 63) and found some that work with my other issues (hip arthritis , bone on bone) and they have helped a lot!! i would also recommend them..

Sandi, i have been dealing with back and sciatic issues for almost 20 years. I've learned that I HAVE TO listen to my body and slow down when things flare otherwise I pay for it by being down much longer than if I just took the time when I first hurt to relax and let myself heal. Hard lesson to learn, but well worth it. The only person who knows your body is you and you have to make YOU a priority. You rock, you will get thru this. Stay Healthy :)

Wait until you cross the 65 mark. Pay attention now to your body, because when you hit your 60s, your strength and endurance keep dropping. I am trying to garden more, but I only have 2-3 hours in me per day for physical work. I used to have 6-7 hrs in my 50s. I also have to skip a day between hard physical work. If I do hard work 3 days in a row, it buys me 4 days of "good for nothing". I wish I had known how much I would lose and how quickly. I don't have heart problems, I just wear out.

Yes indeed to the TENS type unit! During my knee replacement surgeries, my PT sessions ended with ice and the “happy zappy.” I found a USB rechargeable one on Amazon. I’ve now used if through 4 knee procedures, my husband has used it for his knee surgery, we both use it whenever someone strains the back, and lots more situations. Our little zapper can be carried around in a pocket, so you can treat the sore muscles or joints while doing regular activities.

From Texas, I have a slow degenerative bone and connective tissue that I was born with. Tried to be active and productive and have worked through some difficult situations. The pain and emotions you can't ignore. Just learn from them. Move when you can and rest when needed. The world has enough heroes and idiots. Avoid imitating either just be you. I can't stoop nor stand upright. I've been in a wheelchair for 15 years but, I work in the garden in a motorized wheelchair. There are good days and some are bad. When someone offers to help, I accept if I need help or I'll say if I keep moving then I can keep moving. Not bragging just sharing. Appreciate you and your family. Your family appreciates you. I'm not an animal person but, I can tell a lot of those lambs & sheep appreciate you. You and your family has taught a lot about love compassion, consideration and how to face your fears & struggles. I will live the best that I can, then I get to die. After that, I live some more because there's an eternity waiting on me. A good positive attitude and determination accomplishes much. So, I appreciate the Brock's. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, experience and creative expertise. Much love and blessings, prayers in Jesus's Mighty Name. ❤☝🙏🙌💪👊...I get to be 73 yrs next month. Those alarms are godsent. They have saved us a couple of times when a water heater leaked! You won't regret it.

I hear a lot of stories from nurses that say if a farmer comes in willingly for treatment, something is seriously wrong and their symptoms shouldn't be dismissed.

I hurt my back in 1986, when I was in the US Marines. It has bothered me quite a bit ever since. Chronic pain can be very humbling! I would encourage you to take care of yourself as much as possible. You only get one body. I love your videos, Sandi! You and Mark work so hard! I just love your sheep videos, especially watching the lambs when they get the zoomies while their mums are eating at the bunk. Your videos give me a lot of pleasure and distraction from MY BACK PAIN! THANK YOU! ❤🐑🌽🦙🚜🧑🌾❤

Amazing Brock family farm. I hope everyone reads this post and agrees with me. I am truly amazed by the Brock family farm.I have been watching since early 2020.Sometimes I feel like a voyeur. You and Mark need to be respected for your amazing skills. As farmers you Sandi, work so hard with your sheep. Not just a farmer, but also an emergency vet, mechanic, plumber, and large machine driver,7 day commitment to your sheep,and loving them so much! and the retired ladies..To top it off you are a filmmaker and producer.and then there is the fieldwork and Marks maintenance,mechanical/ electrical and keeping up with the research. Oh! and the entrepreneurial wool manufacturing and distribution. Where do you find the time? You are both Canadian heros! I do wish consumers knew this about our farmers. 🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑

Advice from someone who suffers from fibromyalgia. On days like these don’t feel guilty about taking the time you need to rest and recover. Do ONLY what you will regret not doing at the end of your life; visiting family, supporting your kids, taking the rest you need for those important moments, … I went to my twins’ soccer game yesterday in my full pain and exhaustion. That is all I did the whole day. Because that was something I would have regretted not doing. BTW, Their team and them, all played great!

I'm so sorry you are dealing with fibromyalgia. I was diagnosed in my 40's, 30 years ago, when I found an understanding doctor that helped me handle it better. It's a difficult illness and causes unrelenting pain.

@@karenj.5910 Thank you. I was diagnosed in 2019, my mid-thirties. It has been a battle so far.

Back in the early 50’s this was considered important and my grandmothers and my mother taught me the importance of making sure you have enough yarn for whatever you’re doing the same die-lot, and the same wool texture for a project. This is really taught today, I think. I could not have been more than five years old at the time… maybe six I learned how to embroider as well as knitting and crocheting. I had a small chair that my grandfather made, and I was sitting next to my grandmother‘s chair on my project as she was working on hers. She would help me by giving me instructions. She let me know that coordination will come in time. (Not those words.)

Sandi, you always keep us smiling with your videos though you have all the same good and bad days we do. Yes, as someone that just had her 55th Birthday, getting older does mean that your body can't do all it once did and can't recover as fast either. The GOOD part is that it teaches you to take time to "Pet the sheep" and smell the flowers too! Love as always, and looking forward to the fall drop! Smiles from Alberta!

So sorry you are still struggling with pain Sandi, wish you could just ignore it, but I’ve never known that to work. Please tell us you have purchased a handcart, this will really make all the difference helping to prevent future back injuries, it’s that old saying “Work Smarter, Not Harder”, and it sounds like you are doing this already by purchasing a sensor to warn of leaks. Really glad Mark and Clarissa have been able to help out, it’s always going to be something on a farm. Feel better soon Sandi, sending healing energy your way. Thanks for the update!🐑🐏🌱💕👍

I love the color of your lilac t-shirt. It looks nice on you. I agree with you about taking care of your body. I have arthritis, but my hips are the worst. I did the physical therapy route. It helped me significantly. Apparently, it is possible to develop unbalanced muscles as we age. Eating a healthy diet has also helped. Protein is muscle saving and building. Just putting that out there for anyone suffering from pain. Sandy is very active but when you have chronic pain “motion is lotion”.

Take care, Sandi. Make sure you look after your body. You only have one. Maybe a trolley to move boxes. A table style trolley would be very handy, both bringing in the stock and during packing orders. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
