I’ve been a USPS mail carrier for 27 years. My best friend’s husband got laid off about 6 months ago. He asked me if we were hiring. I gave him all the info to apply and was surprised when he didn’t. Then I found out that my “best friend” told him not to apply. She told me it was menial work and she would be embarrassed if he was just a mailman. So now he’s just unemployed and I’m wondering why that’s not more embarrassing.

Given the persisting global economic crisis, it's essential for individuals to focus on diversifying their income streams independent of governmental reliance. This involves exploring options such as stocks, gold, silver, and digital currencies. Despite the adversity in the economy, now is an opportune moment to contemplate these investment avenues.

The pathway to substantial returns doesn't solely rely on stocks with significant movements. Instead, it revolves around effectively managing risk relative to reward. By appropriately sizing your positions and capitalizing on your advantage repeatedly, you can progressively work towards achieving your financial goals. This principle applies across various investment approaches, whether it be long-term investing or day trading.
@alex-Yolan

I agree, that's the more reason I prefer my day to day investment decisions being guided by an advisor, seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time both employing risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, coupled with the exclusive information/analysis they have, it's near impossible to not out-perform, been using my advisor for over 2years+ and I've netted over 2.8million.

Federal student loans are dischargable in bankruptcy. It's an extra step called adversary proceedings where undue hardship needs to be proven. It used to be really hard because they also include earning potential for several years in this but with government guidelines changed, there has been a big increase in approvals this year. This path has always been a possibility just under the current administration, how undue hardship is proven finally got some clear guidance vs being largely the judge's interpretation. Only private student loans that were exclusively directly issued to any institution are not dischargable (if they were paid to the student, there is a big chance that they also used it for living expenses and a good bankruptcy attorney will absolutely be able to get rid of those). Avoid any bankruptcy attorney that tells you otherwise, there are a lot out there (at least here in Texas) that just want your business and an easy and fast case. For anyone who does want to get rid of their federal student loans, find a bankruptcy attorney who did adversary proceedings filings before.

@imveryhungry112 I'm surprised that my comment was deleted. I would really like to know what the issue was with it. She could have replaced 50-75% of her lost income with a retail or fast food job with some dashing on the side. If she did labor, she could have easily replaced it all. I know people hustling at the warehouses making 65-75K with a bunch of OT. This is the problem with many Americans, she attaches a higher social value to that job, when its nothing special from an income side. She probably thinks she is to good to do a “lesser” job. She can do at home customer support and probably walk into 20-25 an hour tomorrow. She's just lazy.

Due to my demanding job, I lack the time to thoroughly assess my investments and analyze individual stocks. Consequently, for the past seven years, I have enlisted the services of a fiduciary who actively manages my portfolio to adapt to the current market conditions. This strategy has allowed me to navigate the financial landscape successfully, making informed decisions on when to buy and sell. Perhaps you should consider a similar approach.

Overcoming the mental depression caused by layoff is very hard. But true, go for any job, in the meantime because the lack of money is depressing in of itself. At least you help minimise one part (money, even if lower, should keep from drowning further). Sometimes people worry about how these in between jobs read on the cv, but it ultimately looks worse with unemployed in that time frame. Also, in this search, you may find another field you had not considered, and actually enjoy more. My cv is bizarre with all the different directions I have taken. What sucked more was being unemployed and broke. Some employers actually praise doing the in between jobs rather than 'doing nothing'.

Here’s the problem with Ramsey. A woman calls up and needs interview advice and gets “go work 12 hours at Walmart and Uber.” I’m a highly educated job seeker with a lot of manager experience. Minimum wage jobs aren’t hiring me. I’ve applied to a lot of $20-$25/hr jobs and not even got an interview. Because they don’t want to hire people who will leave when their primary industry calls them back. As for Uber, with the rates driving apps take from the driver, it’s not worth the wear and tear and gas. Plus, if everyone is driving for Uber, it takes away from all the other drivers. Let’s just call a spade a spade. The market sucks and having a bunch of mediocre radio personalities making ridiculous salaries giving advice on how to live a normal life is entertaining more than productive.

It is all done through computers. 90% of applications, even for the crappiest jobs, are never seen by a human being. The people hiring don't even know you exist. Over stupid things like the margins in your resume might not be what they want, or you used a header for your name and phone at the top. I only know this because a retired military computer guru is running enemployment groups in my area. He is finding all the issues preventing people from finding work. There is also rampant age discrimination. He was told right to his face by a 27 year old recruiter looking at resumes that she would not hire someone even though she had a stellar resume. The reason she gave was that the person was her mother's age. I have never been out of work this long in my life. I'm afraid I'm going to die homeless. Three and a half years ago I had stellar credit, money in the bank and a crappy job but was at least employed. I was finally able to buy a home. Now I'm about to lose my house. Heres whats wrong with the logic of just get a job til the right one comes along. There are only so many hours in a day. If you work an 8 hours shift thats 9 hours (lunch break) plus commute if on site. Now add in maintaining a house and a family. When do you have time to sit and search and tailor resumes and network and interview? Those types of jobs like Walmart dont give time off up front. So you have 4 rounds of interviews for 2 different jobs and you are getting fired anyway. Not only that but 20-30K may not even pay the rent for some people (my mortgage alone is $34K annually so for me that would be pointless). Being out if work for a year doesnt mean you dont know how to do the job. Employers will look at how long you were at your past job, and if we are really honest since Covid, nothing has been "steady." I feel her cause im there too and i know several others who are as well in the tech sector. I dont claim to know what the solution is, but we need better solutions than that.
