One thing I really like about Ichigo being special is how the story handles it. It’s centered around him, but it doesn’t treat Ichigo like “the chosen one.” He’s special because he’s a one-in-a-million existence in the world of Bleach, but it’s not because it was prophesied or magical. He came to be because of several characters’ decisions and a bit of coincidence here and there, like White choosing to bite a Quincy.

You're right! Ichigo never had anything handed to him. He fought for everything he gained. He made his choices freely because of who he was. His struggle was real and often painful. His goal was never egotistical - he didn't want to become "Pirate King" or "Hokage." He just wanted to protect the people he cared about.

I find so funny that somehow Tite Kubo managed in just a couple chapters or just a single episode to develop one of the best and most beautiful romances in any shonen. Masaki's death doesn't hurt as much as when you hear her story from the very love of her life. Even if you can sympathize with Isshin as a single dad of 3 childs, you never get to hear his story with their mother until now, and fuck it hurts...

Kubo has said many times that he didn't make a plot from beginning but he did imagine different scenes and ideas which later he adapted and connected in the story when the time was right. He basically sews the story from different smaller ideas and stories. Maybe that's why his characters feel so real and alive cause they are living their stories inside his head. And even Kubo doesn't 100% know what that character will do. Like with Gin Kubo has said that he was thinking about two routes and chose the route that we have seen in final story.

In a Q&A, Kubo said that Hitsugaya and Matsumoto recognized Isshin when they went to Ichigo's house, but just chose not to say anything... That's incredibly stupid, so I'm going with the headcanon that it was like a revolving door effect, where whenever they were there, Isshin just happened to be elsewhere and vice versa. That's funnier to me.

Kubos explanation makes more sense. They were all at the house during the arrancar invasion and also during the Aizen fight when Isshin shows up an then again when dangai Ichigo shows up to fight Aizen and puts down his dad and Matsumoto is looking right at them only a few feet away. Maybe we'll see some kind of interaction in the future but imo, it's not needed

1. Squad 10 was assigned to Naruki City which is next to Karakura Town, and as we all know Karakura Town is under Squad 13 jurisdiction. 2. In the original series, when Ichigo asked old man what his name was, his voice was muted. So he believed that the old man was Zangetsu. In the manga, his name was censored/painted over. It's because Ichibe erased his name. 3. Aizen was not only a schemer, he was also a groomer. He also made Hinamori crazy for him. Lol.

Loved the reaction as usual! As someone who is a Bleach fanatic and manga reader that pays attention to every detail, you really catch a lot of things people miss! These small details matter a lot later. Also, I agree with your point on Unohana being a bit short-lived and rushed btw! Kubo did say that he is going to use the anime to fix a few mistakes he made when he was being rushed to write the manga, but they could have given Unohana more screen time since she is such an important character!

I have been looking forward to your reaction to these episodes for a very long time, and you didn't disappoint me! You become very emotionally involved in the story, and Shirō Sagisu's soundtrack has quite an effect on you (those violins get you every time). At the same time I enjoy watching you put the pieces of the puzzle together to solve the mystery Kubo created. I know you appreciate the flashbacks and the world-building lore as much as I do, and the pay-off of the last episodes of the first cour was huge! Every question about the relationship between Soul Reapers and Zanpakuto is answered in four words: "The Blade Is Me." Ichigo has access to every source of power revealed in Bleach (except Hell): he's a Shinigami/Hollow/Fullbringer/Quincy - and still human! I enjoy how you're getting more and more creative with the effects in your edits! Isshin was physically 20 years younger in Soul Society. On earth, in a gigai, he aged 20 years in 20 years, while Rangiku and Toshiro barely changed. Despite this,Toshiro and Rangiku recognized Isshin (acording to Kubo's answer to a question posed in Klub Outside), but did not acknowledge it out of respect for his wishes. Since he disappeared from Soul Society, and made no effort to contact them, he clearly didn't want to be found. Rukia never interacted with the Captain of Squad 10 twenty years ago, though she may have seen him at a distance. But Ichigo's dad looked much older than Isshin Shiba, and in any case there's no way (as far as she knows) for a Shinigami and a human to have children, so in her mind Ichigo's dad couldn't possibly be a Shinigami. Ichigo resembles his cousin, Kaien Shiba. Isshin more closely resembles his nephew, Ganju Shiba. I halfway expected Karin Kurosaki to look like her cousin Kukaku Shiba... (and Yuzu resembles Misaki). It was so interesting to see how much of his personality Ichigo gets from his mother. I almost wish Misaki Kurosaki had her own series. Echt Quincies are "Pure-Blooded" so their ancestors were all Quincies. The Ishida family and the Kurosaki family were Echt Quincies, but Misaki ceased to be Echt when White infected her with his Hollow reiatsu. The opposite- Gemischt or "Mixed" Quincies - had some non-Quincy human ancestors, like Uryu's mother, Kanae Katagiri; and Misaki Kurosaki after she was infected by White. Because of this, both of them died nine years ago when Yhwach first performed Auswählen ("the choosing") and consumed the power of all the "Mixed" Quincies... except Uryu Ishida. The manga never revealed why Uryu survived, so all of us manga-readers are hoping the anime will explain what makes Uryu unique. Yes, what Mayuri recovered from Szayalapporo's lab will be revealed in the next cour (but I guess you know that by now). I noticed you gave up on your Miro page after episode 9. Shall I assume you no longer intend to use it?

everything about this stretch is sooooo gooood Ichigo learning the real reason why Masaki died, freeing himself from the guilt that he was the one that caused her to die, and at the same time dealing with his trauma with hollows that came from that experience, and finally being able to accept himself because now he actually knows himself He forms a heart with himself, and as an extension, with his parents, and even with yhwach, through the understanding he gained of himself You can think back to all his fights and realize how he's slowly been getting to know and accept himself throughout the series, each battle an opportunity to explore the contours of his soul

@@sakinah06 it's what i love about ichigo. literally every fight he is clashing souls with his opponent, both getting to understand his enemy and himself, it's why when he kills Ginjo it's such an important moment for Ichigo, he does it not with hate or desire for revenge, but to free Ginjo of his own hatred, understanding that he also could have been in that position, and at the same time accepting death as a natural part of life and not something intrinsically good or bad, which does also help him accept this hollow nature, his killer instinct. This arc is basically him actually acknowledging the origin and existence of these things within his soul, as opposed to before like in his mugetsu form where he just accepts zangetsu without fully understanding him, or for an earlier moment him accepting that he wants to fight and defeat the espadas at the end of the grimmjow fight, an important step to understand himself but not quite the whole way there.

I thought that Kubo had created the story and the character relations from the start and worked his way up to get to each reveal. But I think he said in an interview that he comes up with the stuff on the fly and it happens to work out. I don't totally believe that. I think he had a lot of stuff planned from the start. Because if you rewatch the episode where Ichigo first meets Zangetsu, the audio is muted when Zangetsu tells him his name and Ichigo couldn't hear it. He then says "It seems I cannot fully reach you yet". That's no coincidence. That tells me Kubo created the Juha Bach character from the early days of his manga.

[Tidbits & Clarifications][Ep.13][Get ready for a mini Book, lol (For those interested in particular details)] - This episode is so important because it effectively finishes off Ichigo's character development. As we all know the Zanpaktou is representative of a Characters self progression and Here Ichigo finally gets a Completed Zanpaktou. Both parts of Zangetsu finally accept Ichigo because Ichigo finally accepts and loves himself, Which is something he couldn't do given his trauma. -Throughout the entire show Ichigo's Quincy power never said he was Zangetsu, in fact, the first & only time that part of Ichigo's soul spoke its name, we could not hear it. More important is that if you go back through the story "White" always told us that he is Zangetsu. Think about the entire SS arc, it was actually White that kept saving Ichigo. Kubo loves writing in this fashion where he blends Metaphors and Foreshadowing to make the viewers that pay attention cling to a false understanding. - Some still question "Then how did Ichigo have a Zanpaktou all this time". The hollow "White" was made from Shinigami Souls, so practically Ichigo had something akin to an Asauchi, yet made with a hollow as a base. This is also why whenever he got stronger as a Shinigami, His hollow powers did as well because his Shinigami and Hollow Powers are one. -This part of Ichigo that looks like Young Ywach seems to carry Quincy intent, yet also seeks to protect Ichigo. I always found it fascinating because this Quincy part of him believed becoming a Shinigami = Conflict and suffering so he actively tried to keep that from happening. I still wonder if maybe this belief comes from Ywach himself. - The long Blade is representative of his Shinigami & Hollow powers and the short blade is his Quincy powers. - Bleach blends Buddhist themes and Christian themes when crafting its lore. Buddhism has a concept known as Samsara and within that concept, you have something known as 6 Paths, 3 of them are virtuous paths and the other 3 are unbenelovent paths...One of those "bad" paths is the Animal path, which plays into Komamura's clan being beast.

@@Castiel_01x No, that was self defense against a hollow. Later, she felt the call of something inside of her, but what White wanted was to devour her. And since Quincys don’t have antibodies against hollowfication, it would have killed her. With Ichigo, since White was made similar to an asauchi and Ichigo was born with Soul Reaper powers, it melded with his soul creating something new: white Ichigo, aka Zangetsu. Since it’s literally part of Ichigo’s soul, it behaves a differently than a standard Hollow. But originally, White’s purpose was to kill soul reapers and/or infect them.

KATAGIRI AND RYUKEN MENTIONED GRAH. I’m so sorry I hope you don’t mind me spewing my thoughts about them in your comment section. If you want to read pure brainrot im here for that. I guess I should start at the beginning when Katagiri first met ryuken.. im not the only one who found it weird right? the “my life has belonged to you from the moment we met eyes” quote AND SHE WAS A LITERAL BABY?? Where are her parents? No child would choose to be a servant from that age. And she had to be one for her whole childhood. I assume she was told that full blooded quincies are worth more than her and that she’s below them. She literally calls him master? Thankfully I don’t see ryuken going anywhere near katagiri with weird intentions and vice versa. They both would have some very unwanted thoughts but they would try to forget about them as fast as they could. I would actually hate this ship if ryuken wasn’t the same age as her but since he is I love them a lot. They both were kind of groomed into thinking the only real quincies where full blooded and they needed to stay alive and ryuken kind of got fixated on that and thought it was his duty to do that. Basically the same for katagiri the whole “marriage between quincies doesn’t require love” thing. I mean katagiri is in that position because her parents loved each other. Also katagiri is not afraid to go against ryuken if she thinks that it’s for the betterment of the quincies which I find interesting. I also like the implication that she’s not afraid to say her thoughts around him, and it seems ryuken wasn’t scared to vent to her also. They are the same and different at the same time. Katagiri literally gave her whole life to the quincies and ryuken had everything he had taken away by the quincies. Ryuken lost his childhood, his son (kind of ryukens own fault though ngl 😭) and his wife to the quincies. And Katagiri gave actually everything you have no idea. The way I want to say more about that but I can’t.. if you know you know. Anyways I can go on but im gonna stop. I will talk to literally anyone about them if they’d listen. if anyone read this thank you and also sorry if anything was confusing 💀

Im just so glad Bleach is getting the love it deserved. There was a very real chance that fullbring arc could have been the last of the Bleach anime. It still feels a little surreal to be getting new bleach episodes. Next part cant come soon enough.
