I think you hit the nail on the head with the part-repair putting people off. It would be a huge red flag for me - I'd be thinking the seller has found something serious making it uneconomical to repair. The fact that the body panels are on but not fitted well - perhaps they've assumed the chassis must be twisted? Fingers crossed for a good result - should be an interesting series!

@@ItaliaAutos You need to have a very close look at that front tub under the carpet etc - replacing one on a 981 at the moment. I think the floor looks bent as the three grommets should be level. I would have the front bumper off and check the crash bar as well. And the rear bumper as very easy to damage the corner under the light and the rear wing mechanism is made of chocolate..... Keep up the good work!

I wish you lots of luck with this one Neil, but if you think Italian engineers have their moments you are about to learn that The German variant hate mechanic`s with a vengeance. From the state of the tires it looks like the previous owner was less than fussy about maintenance and as it has had other hands into the repairs I would suggest taking those panels off and starting from scratch or at least a serious coat of looking at.

Friend of mine did something like this spinning his Boxster S on wet roads. Bill was huge. Structural, AFIK floor pan etc. One thing to check: exhaust wasn't damaged.... But a few months later the manifold broke. Guessing that was cracked in the prang and not picked up. The other thing is that in Germany a car like this that's accident free is worth a lot more than accident repaired... So even after the repairs by Porsche, the car lost a lot in value.

I know it's a porche never driven one drove BMW audi and Mercedes but always felt good as they we're there's something missing I know I'm baised but none of the former have the soul of an alfa romeo so this is gonna be interesting and how you rate it when you get driving it oh and when I was a middle aged man 👨 and bought my 1st alfa I realised why the hell hadn't I bought one before

Fixing the Mito and the Punto will completely prove to be an easier job than this hellscape. The dividing line is 1989 and the fall of the Berlin Wall. Before - really great. After - piles of rubbish. Wishing you good luck, but I've had no desire for German cars since that specific year. Alfa's are easier to live with and fix !

So....my (totally irrelevant) opinion....A BIG mistake. First, your channel is Italia Autos....why do I want to see a German car on your channel? There are a thousand and one Porsche channel to watch if I had any inclination to watch such content...I don't. And....with all of your knowledge, experience and access to Alfa's, you choose to buy a hairdressers "sports" car??? Didn't you have a new Giulia not that long ago?...and know you want one of these? No doubt you will have lots of new viewers who like this kind of thing, but you have lost one old one.
